Dodfather 07-14-2011 02:12 AM

I went for Blue Denim purely because Kick It has to stay!

GarboSpeaks! 07-14-2011 02:52 AM

I always wanna play these, then feel terrible for kicking a one off. BD isn't a fav. I'm just really, really surprised Kick It made it this far. I love Greta, but also surprised it made it this far. That's awesome. Interesting choices made.

darklinensuit 07-14-2011 05:00 AM

"Greta" for sure, I really can't stomach it at all. I think it's a production issue since I don't mind the earlier outtake.
BD & KI are two of the best songs on the album, but since I had to choose, I voted KI - its production does not feel quite complete to me, and also I think BD has the better vocal.

My vote is for Kick It since it's still here, but the best songs on the album have been voted off.

michelej1 07-14-2011 11:13 AM

Blue Denim FTW.

SapphireSister 07-14-2011 01:06 PM

Blue Denim will always win but Street Angel is the true legacy of this album.

MacShadowsBall 07-14-2011 06:25 PM

Tough choice between Greta and Kick It. Neither are my favs, but not really my least favs.

Hmmmm....

I'll have to listen to these again now and determine my vote.

I view polls like these very seriously, (in case anybody didn't know that) ;)

johnnystorms 07-14-2011 10:59 PM

had to go with....

Blue Denim and Kick It. something about that vocal on Great just gets to me! not to mention "rhinestone collections"! i looove Kick It, but i think Greta is very autobiographical!

MacShadowsBall 07-15-2011 11:53 AM

After listening carefully to "Greta" and "Kick It", I went with "Kick It".

ontheEdgeof17 07-15-2011 12:37 PM

I wanted Kick It to win, but alas....:(

SapphireSister 07-15-2011 12:38 PM

Guess I should be happy Street Angel made it as far as it did....

Yeah. It's a top 5 favorite of mine. I knew it wouldn't make it to the final round.

StevieNicksfann 07-15-2011 05:15 PM

How in the world Blue Denim stays with one of her most monotone vocal deliveries is beyond me. Greta for the win

Totally agree, 100%. I would think Stevie songs with a bit more mystery and passion would easily win over this. But, you have to consider that most people voting may not even own the album and are not fully informed when they vote. It's like picking the handsome candidate over the one who is actually qualified.

Whenever I read the results of these polls I usually think Stevie fans have no taste in music. They can't tell a good song from a bad one. However the truth is, is that we all have different tastes and that is what makes us all so special.

mitzo 07-16-2011 12:13 PM

I must agree I am often really puzzled at people's choices as far as Stevie's music is concerned. It's as if we are listening to a totally different woman. Not that that's bad, but it does tend to make stuff like Blue Denim punch far beyond its weight.

KarmaContestant 07-16-2011 03:07 PM

I don't mean to say that Blue Denim is a bad song; it's just that when placed against some of the other material I don't consider it the be-all-end-all track of the album. It also comes down to what songs you feel are representative of the Street Angel era, and for many people those songs are Jane(the bad, Maybe Love and Blue Denim. Of those three, Blue Denim is my favorite.

For me, Love Is Like A River, Street Angel & Rose Garden are the era-defining tracks on Street Angel. Of course it's disappointing to see your favorites voted off.

Street Angel is the only Stevie Nicks album I have  hence the reason why I only participated in that albums Survivor rounds.

Occasionally, I do a few Fleetwood Mac polls , most of my fav's don't typically win. Though the song that does win I most of the time like, it just usually isn't my fav.

You're missing out!

Neal 07-16-2011 08:43 PM

I missed the poll, but I'd have kicked off "Blue Denim" at this point. The other 2 are simply better songs.

daniellaaarisen 07-16-2011 08:47 PM

"Kick It" is the only song off of Street Angel that I listen to regularly... I would've wanted it to win. Too bad I just looked at this thread!

Dani, I think me, you and Louie are the only 3 that really love Kick It!

No, it's one of my three favorites on the album. I would have been fine with it winning.

mitzo 07-17-2011 08:04 AM

Kick It is my fave off the album. Also like Jane...

ahafan02 07-17-2011 12:23 PM

The thing about these challenges is that I always thought certain songs were fan favorites and these challenges show me that I was completely wrong LOL.....

Regarding Street Angel....Maybe Love, Greta and Street Angel are my favs,,,,I never liked Blue Denim (sorry)...

MrStevie 07-17-2011 01:17 PM

Kick It kicks ass.

Soft and tender album closer, Stevie purrs and pulls at your heartstrings, gets me every time. Can't help it.

BTW It's about Jane Goodall, so the chimpanzee reference is perfectly logical.

I agree. If anything hurts the song, it's the tiresome angel references.

True, it gets sappy and has some goofy lyrics, but something about it touches - like Stevie really managed, through the Klonopin, to write and perform something kinda vulnerable and awestruck and reverential about an icon, Jane. It is epic, childish, silly, profound, contrived and raw, all at the same time. Along the lines of Soldier's Angel, to me.
