Covers and Original Songs

So I kind of do this as a hobby, I guess. I just like to sing. And I put something on youtube for a contest one time, and I've just kept doing it ever since.

These are just a few of my more recent ones of them. I've got a lot more on my channel, but most of them are years old. There are two FM covers on my channel as well.

(I promise I sing things other than Britney Spears.)

This is one I wrote. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

I've just listened to your Landslide cover and I liked it. You've got a really good voice! I'll hopefully find time to listen to some of your original tonight. If you write as well as you sing then it should be a treat!

WildHearted 07-08-2011 04:14 PM

Thank you :) I hope you have time to listen!

-Lillith- 07-09-2011 04:19 PM

I could somehow only listen to the britney cover ,i have a internet problem right now.
I dont like britney too much but i loved your video. Its really beautiful :)
You playing is very good. I play keyboard as well but i never covered anything with it. .. I want to upload a selfwritten keyboard song next time.
Keep it up!

Really lovely--especially the original song.

Thanks you guys, I really appreciate it.

Good stuff pal! Loved the Song to Sing cover. Hanson songs are pretty tricky to sing, which I learned when I tried singing Voice in the Chorus and Can't Stop...

Oh my gosh, another Hanson fan haha. Yeah, they really are. Taylor (and Zac for that matter) have such high voices for guys that a lot of their songs are in tricky spots haha.

Regrettably I don't know that much of their stuff, but I love This Time Around and Shout It Out. I have a pretty high voice so I can hit the notes reasonably well - even Mmmbop! - but man, the "phrasing", there's like no opportunities to catch your breath at all! Such great singers.

Ah, I see. And yes they definitely have great vocals. You should check out 'The Walk,' it's got a different vibe from most of their other work but I really like it. Really raw. :)

Here's a new song I wrote. I'd love to hear what anyone thinks or constructive criticism. This was kind of a one-take deal so there's a couple flubs in the video.

SummerlongBoots 09-08-2011 11:39 PM

LOVE ALL OF THEM! :blob2:

You have a lovely voice! Reminds me of the music you'd hear in the coffee houses, back in the day. :)

WildHearted 09-08-2011 11:43 PM

^ Thank you :)

Funny you would say that because the coffee house in the town where I go to college has acoustic nights once a week that I've been playing at

SummerlongBoots 09-08-2011 11:51 PM

Good for you! I'd stop in and listen! Probably become a groupie too.

How about Nightbird?

And if you know Pat Benatar's
One Love I'd like to hear that.

I'm not familiar with One Love but I could become familiar, haha.

And I can certainly do Nightbird. I actually think I want to make that one a little more like, less off-the-cuff and use my school's soundbooth to go in there and sing both the parts and everything, so that one might not be for a while though.

You will be happy to know that for Christmas I got a condensor microphone so now I can layer my own vocals and, do a cover of Nightbird for you :)

But in the meantime - my first recording with my Christmas present, a little song I wrote the other night.

I'm not Benjamin Buttons.
I have no grand story to tell.
I haven't seen the world. And
I haven't worked on a tug boat.
Nor have I ever been in love with
a gorgeous red head.

But what I have done is wait
patiently for your version of
Nightbird.

feedback much appreciated :)

also, nightbird is next on my list of covers, for sure. i need to work out the piano part!
