so one of my co-workers was talkin about getting her boobs done and i wondered.....

when did Stevie get hers done? and didnt she have to take them out? i know i've heard that she did before, but i can't remember if it was confirmed or not.

And yes, she did get them out. I was listening to that audio that I think Michele posted of this SYW era interview Stevie did, and she talked explicitly about the whole matter, and implants in general.

I wanna scream at women who get them. The grass is not greener...i can tell you from being handed a very hefty set thanks to heredity. I wanna lop them off half the time..bigger is not better!!!

She got them taken out then froze them. I remember hearing something about them leaking and her getting epstein-barr virus as a result. Poor baby.

How have they done over the years? I think the older boob jobs look so much more real than the two melons on a stick we see nowadays.

This is all probably TMI but anyway: they look totally natural, and I'm not just saying that. She was in her early twenties when she got it done, and she only got like a full B cup I think and she's 5'9", so they were and are very proportional to the rest of her. Everyone is always really shocked when I tell them she has implants because you honestly can't tell at all. She's never had any problems with them leaking or anything like that over the years, they've held up really well. I agree that the older ones look better, I think nowadays people go overboard with the size and don't take into account how it will actually make their bodies look.

I'm a radiology tech and most of my day is spent performing mammograms. I would say half of the patients I see with implants tell me, unsolicited, that they wish they never had them put in, for one reason or another. The only patients that are consistantly happy about any kind of breast augmentation are those that have had breast reduction.

This is what I tell patients that ask me about implants.

My favorite SBE (Stevie boob era) was the late 80's/early 90's. She was showing off those bad boys like none other! I've wondered if they were saggy because they leaked?

Whatever she's rockin now works because they seem to be more proportioned and age appropriate.

I heard she got them taken out like in 93-94'ish time frame because she was always sick, and then finally realized it was because of her implants. The article below talks a little about it (from 2001). But, I am glad she had them taken out.... she took the implants out, and we got a beautiful, energetic, youthful Stevie back.... with smaller boobies... (lol). She is healthy and still around to create music, so that is a great trade of in my opinion....

I thought the interview where she said she got the implants to even out her figure because she had big hips was interesting. I did not know she thought of her bottom that way.

It is interesting. I guess it's hard to tell because she wore skirts/dresses a lot of the time, but I never noticed her hips being big at all in pictures from those days. She just looked tiny all over.

I've often wondered the same thing. Breast augmentations didn't enter the mainstream until the 1980s. Stevie truly was an early adopter! :lol:

I've always been a little skeptical on this one--don't, like, 95% of middle-aged Americans have Epstein-Barr? (The internet tells me they do, so I'm going with it;)).Why was she so sure it was the implants?
Correct me if I'm wrong and she had valid reasons for using this anti-implant rampage, but I think she might have just felt uncomfortable admitting to having a "kissing disease.":shrug:
Stevie is one of the only people I can see feeling more comfortable admitting to plastic surgery than an exchange of bodily fluids. Ah, I cherish her!:angel:

Actually, the outfits always made me assume she veered towards the pear. I'm the same way (flat chested and extremely narrow on top, larger on bottom), and tend to wear very similar cuts--lots of leotards and A-line skirts. When people consistently wear full or A-line skirts it's a solid bet they're self-conscious about their booties (see also: Davis, Kristen; Hewitt, Jennifer Love).
I can totally understand wanting to even things out with implants, but I've heard too many women admit they regret them. I will never forget hearing my cousin call her father from vacation in Europe and have to explain that one of her implants burst:eek:.

I've heard posters here theorize that she lied about when she received the implants and it was really in the mid-late 80's. After all, her boobs look really natural in the late 70's. She may have wanted implants to seem like the impetuous choice of a young woman, not the vain act of a middle-aged one.
Honestly, though, I have no idea. In fact, if she hadn't admitted to implants I wouldn't have thought she had them-they've never looked like Montagian bolt-ons. I can't recall any drastic boob changed that couldn't be explained by weight changes:shrug:

I consider myself an expert on Stevie's boobies. I've been staring at them fororever. :p No, she didn't lie...at least not about when she got implants. You can tell from comparing Fritz, BN and FM white album era photos that she had no chest until Rumours era. After 76 you can see she had a handfull. They looked very nice and natural. She was wise not to go for biguns. :laugh:

She might be stretching the truth implying her boobs are 100% real now. My guess is she had silicone implants removed in the 90s. I doubt she wanted to leave her body disfigured. She probably replaced the silicone with saline implants which also look very normal and natural. Again, she went with small, correctly proportioned implants, so nobody can really tell. Good call.

I think she was just smart about the boob job and didn't go very large.

But I totally agree with you that really, there was never a drastic change that couldn't be explained by weight. I think that is DEFINITELY what happened in the late 80's when her boobs got huge - not that she got implants, but that.. she gained weight, and that was one of the places it started to show.

Mezzo, you brought up a good point about the Epstein-Barr stuff. I didn't even think about that before... how would you get epstein-barr from implants? Is there something in the silicone? I thought it was a virus.

i thought she had epstein barr virus and that was when they also realized her implants were leaking, so it was two issues making her ill. i had epstein barr and was sick for a few years (and i'm still f'd up today) but never had implants - the two are not related. and many people can have the virus and be a carrier, but not get sick with it, from what i have understood?

i first noticed she looked like she had implants when watching angel in the tusk documentary. the way she was dancing around and i was wondering what kind of bra she was wearing, was it strapless because strapless never seem that supportive, and finally thinking, are those fake? i think in the mid to late 70's breast implants were coming out and starting be "the thing" among celebrities. she was a pioneer, lol!

When you say "kissing disease" I believe through the euphemism you are referring to something more embarassing than mono, but I find it interesting because I noticed that although fans have said Lindsey had mono, when they had to return to Northern California from Los Angeles, I noticed Lindsey never said that. He said what he had was never diagnosed. I wondered if that was true or if he just really didn't want to say what it was that he had.

The mono thing holds up, I think, because it is the sort of label that gets attached to a range of fatigue- or postviral-related conditions. Back in the early '70s, postviral syndromes were not very well known, so it's possible that it was labelled as mono anyway, even if LB never accepted the label?

Interestingly, Stevie has made many references to her parents telling her how tired she looked and how she was sick all the time in the BN days. This was before the 'crazy' FM tour schedule, and I've always thought it was likely that she had whatever LB had, too, but it was perhaps milder - or she made less of a fuss! :laugh: Y'know what 'man flu' is!
