Guesses for the Hard Rock Calling setlist?

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for the setlist for Hard Rock Calling?

APerfectLie 06-09-2011 03:36 PM

I am sure it will be the same as the Heart and Soul setlist.

Surely this show will be professionally filmed; I know that edited Hard Rock Calling concerts are broadcast on the Palladium channel all the time. Let's just hope that they don't edit out too much of Stevie's set and that they only leave in the new songs.

Just watched the Hard Rock Calling 09' on Palladium last night. I was interested mostly in The Killers & The Pretenders. The 3 song set list captured from The Pretenders was a couple of classics plus one new song from their 08' "Break Up The Concrete" release. If they film this years I'm sure Stevie's aired setlist would be similar, but hopefully all the unreleased footage would leak on YouTube;)

It's a curious one, being part of a festival and having to win over a lot of non Stevie fans. I wonder will she slip in Rooms on fire as it was her biggest hit over here?

That will be really interesting to see if she pulls out ROF or not to a UK audience!? Otherwise I'd expect her to rely heavily on her FM standards and throw in a 2 to 3 new songs to promote In Your Dreams new release in Europe in a couple weeks.

Well whatever she does will be fine by me of course, and i hope she really shows the crowd what she's made of. There has been quite a lot of bitching and moaning on the HRC's facebook page about the Sunday line-up by people that know nothing about her work, some reckoned they didn't even know who she was, Its what you have to put up with over here sometimes, as long as i don't have some idiot behind me screaming for 'Don't Stop' i'll be fine ;)

Now why would she do that? She didn't do it for her US release.

I'm hoping that the Wiltern show gave her the confidence to play these new songs. I can totally see her doing the Heart & Soul setlist, but we can always hope that she'll just keep surprising us. I can see her doing 3 new songs since the Wiltern performances went RIDICULOUSLY smoothly.

Her album wasnt out during heart and soul tour, then she got sick. She sang the new songs impeccably at the Wiltern show,it was amazing. I cant see her NOT keeping a few in the setlist:)

I'm hoping for "Rooms On Fire". It was her biggest hit here

fall from grace
secret love
outside the rain
dreams
sorcerer
moonlight
gold dust woman
if anyone falls
stand back
annabel lee
Rhiannon

what i think she should do if she's allotted the time and should keep for the summer:
secret love
annabel lee
outside the rain
dreams
new orleans
gold dust woman
if anyone falls
Rhiannon
landslide
sorcerer
moonlight
edge of seventeen
stand back
rock and roll

This is a very good guess.

Lindsey played 6 songs from his new album recently, and he doesn't even have a release date yet. So I don't buy that excuse. Artists preview songs from their upcoming albums in concert all the time. Fleetwood Mac & Stevie herself used to be amongst those ranks. Stevie flushed major sales potential down the toilet by not performing new songs in front of a captive audience which likely would not pay to see her otherwise (the Rod tour).

That being said, I'm guessing she'll perform 3 new songs at this show. Secret Love, Moonlight, & Annabel Lee seem the most likely suspects. She very well could throw in a 4th new song, so that she can have the option of losing one of the new songs in shows later this year.

SaraThePoet 06-12-2011 03:31 PM

I agree it is a lame excuse, but she came right out and said she did not want to perform them before the album dropped because she knows the bootlegs would end up Youtube and that is not how she wanted them to be introduced. Like we would love them any less? Ahhh..love that lady and her way of thinking lol..she needs to realize how dedicated her fans really are :)

Artemis 06-12-2011 03:50 PM

I'm guessing, at most, the only curveball thrown into set from the H&S tour would be Moonlight and possibly another song from IYD. I wouldn't rule out Rooms On Fire either, since it's her biggest hit in the UK.

Although, how long does Stevie get? If she gets shorter than usual, we're just going to see the same six/seven songs + Secret Love, I fear.

IYDhas been released inEurope (mainland) for weeks now. It was out even before the US release. Only the UK hasn't got it yet, which ll has to do with the Hard Rock Calling festival f you'd ask me, Just marketing !!!

I doubt it there will be ny surpries. We would you perform on a festival with new songs for a general public (ok, there will be a lot of fans) but I think she'll play her standard set with RoF incuded...

Personally I'm not really bothered what she sings, I'm just excited to see her solo, it's been 22 years since I last had that opportunity! :)

There are many artists that choose not to introduce new material until it's commercially available and there are many artists who will introduce new material prior to release. Neither is the right or the wrong way and there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

What I observed at the Stevie/Rod show was a crowd interested in nothing but the most familiar hits. The Stewart fans all around me talked loudly during unfamiliar songs and were more concerned with trips to the bathroom and the beer garden than with her gorgeous closing version of Love Is.

I don't judge Stevie by what Lindsey does.

STEVEHEDRICK 06-14-2011 03:49 AM

I like to know the songs before I hear them live, so she can do whatever she likes!
