Which set of Stevie songs is your favorite?
Which set of Stevies FM songs is your overall favorite from one single album?
White Album- Rhiannon, Crystal, Landslide Rumours- Dreams, I Don't Want to Know, Gold Dust Woman Tusk- Sara, Storms, Sisters of the Moon, Angel, Beautiful Child Mirage- Thats Alright, Gypsy, Straight Back Tango In The Night- Seven Wonders, Welcome to the Room... Sara, When I See You Again Say You Will- Illume, Thrown Down, Say You Will, Smile at You, Running Through the Garden, Silver Girl, Destiny Rules, Everybody Finds Out, Goodbye Baby |
Tusk and Say You Will probably have an unfair advantage because they have more songs than the other four.
But I went with Tusk because imo that's collectively her best work. |
Tusk... by more than a country mile!
I went with Tusk too I love every song except for When I see you again that is the only song of Stevie's I don't like. whats the matter baby she says too much in that song I know it was done before or after her stint in the Betty Ford Clinic after Rock A Little Tour in September 1986.
It was a toss up between Tusk and Mirage....but I went with Tusk.
Tusk as a set although in a pure classic sense, Gold Dust Woman cannot be beat.
I went with Mirage. The better songs in Say You Will ("Destiny Rules", "Everybody Finds Out", "Running Through The Garden", "Smile At You", "Thrown Down") aren't enough to counteract the dreck ("Silver Hurl", "Illume").
Mirage. Does anything really top Gypsy? My second vote would have gone for SYW because that's when my love affair with Stevie began and I first saw her live. Mirage live video i.e. sisters of the moon, that's just unstoppable.
Ummm.. I think we already know the winner.... Lol
And what about Behind The Mask?:(
CONFESS!! Who voted for Tango?
I went with Tusk because each song is incredible. There is no weakness there. White Album songs are legendary, but I grew to love the live versions more than the studio recordings. Each of the other albums has a song I feel is less than stellar. |
White Album - Rumours - Tusk - Mirage was just an incredible run of songs for Stevie, she didn't slip up once, and was easily the strongest songwriter on those albums, imo.
Tango and Behind The Mask were a shocking fall from grace, and the quality of her songs on those two albums when compared to the others is incredible. Sandy Stewart really saved Stevie from being a total laughing stock on Tango. Say You Will is interesting, for me. Her songwriting is incredible - minus Silver Girl - but the production is a bit... not so good - Silver Girl, Smile At You. However, when she's one, she was really on; Thrown Down, RTTG, EFO, Destiny Rules. I think, though, I'm going to go for Tusk. It has everything special about Stevie nicks contained perfectly in 5 songs. The airy-fairyness - Sara, the mystical rocker - Sisters of the Moon, the straight-up Rock - Angel, and the fragile vulnerability - Beautiful Child / Storms |
I went with Mirage. I remember once reading a music critic saying “Mirage has some really pleasant sh*t on it”, and I agree. Its often overlooked as being a good album, not just Stevie’s songs but all the members. I find myself reaching for that CD more than any other Mac album. I like how Stevie’s songs on Mirage have a little bit of country (That’s Alright), pop and the classic Mac sound (Gypsy) and the mystical (Straight Back).

I've always had a HUGE affinity for SYW songs, because that album is what got me into the Mac and Stevie, so it's always a sentimental fave! :)
Stevie's contributions on Mac albums are usually very strong (the exceptions being Tango In The Night and Behind The Mask). I voted for Tusk because I think all 5 of those songs are incredible (and I think WB might have juiced up Tusk sales somewhat if they'd focused heavily on those songs for promotion and released several of them as singles).
I think the White Album and Mirage songs are spectacular as well, also Rumours. If the Rumours trilogy had been "Dreams", "Gold Dust Woman" and "Silver Springs" instead, I think a lot of people might have had a hard time choosing between Rumours and Tusk. Say You Will is a return to form from the nadir that was Tango and Mask. |
Sara, Storms and Angel - what more can be said?
I went with Rumours for this poll; it is my opinion that Dreams and Gold Dust Woman (and the excluded Silver Springs) are better than any other songs she ever wrote for a Fleetwood Mac album.
Tusk, with Mirage being a veeeerrryy close second.
Tough choice, but ultimately I went with Tusk.
She was perfection on the White Album through Tusk, though. |
I went with Mirage, but if Stevie had sung lead on "Crystal" I might have gone with the White Album. (Nothing against Lindsey, it's just that it just doesn't feel like a complete set of Stevie songs if she's not singing lead on all three of the songs.)

I thought I was going to choose Rumours but actually, and I see that I agree with the majority, it's Tusk.
