If new tour happens...

If Fleetwood Mac decides to make a new album and/or tour, will Christine be involved? Yes or no? Why? What do you think?

I would love to see her again involved, at least for the last time.

Heartboy 05-13-2011 09:07 PM

That would be so awesome but I don't think it will happen! :/

MacShadowsBall 05-13-2011 09:08 PM

I would love for Christine to return for something, whatever she would want to do, i.e album, tour, a one-time FM show perhaps in London(*hint,;)) However Christine retired over 10 years ago. Ten years after retiring from my job I wouldn't want to return.

I know the point of this question is to provide conversation/discussion which is certainly something this forum needs, but I wish that fans would accept that Christine is no longer a member of Fleetwood Mac. :sorry:

JesusRumours 05-13-2011 09:13 PM

I know that a lot of people don't think it's possible, but I see it as a possibility, and even more if it's the last FM Album/Tour. Maybe nostalgia will bring her back! :D

Can't do that.

My sense is Christine is done with Fleetwood Mac for good. I don't think she'd want the chaos even if the band offered to record in her home studio in Wickhambreaux. If you read the articles and watch the interviews from her '04 solo album, In The Meantime, she just seems done with the whole Fleetwood Mac thing. She only made In The Meantime because she was hanging out with her nephew, who was an art student, and they sort of organically started noodling around with music together. They'd get together and cook, talk, and play around in her home studio. Over time, an album's worth of songs emerged. Even 7 years later, I'm still in disbelief we have In The Meantime. I guess stranger things have happened, and Christine could shock us all and record with FM again. But I can't see the politics of Fleetwood Mac playing along with that either, though. Just my rambling two cents. :)

Oh I think anything is possible. Everyone seems to forget that Chris retired from touring after BTM, but was somehow convinced to do The Dance... then she "retired" from the band altogether. But come 2002, she was ready and willing to record again, but not tour and the Mac would have nothing to do with that. I think she'd definitely record with them again. I doubt she'd tour, but you never know...

I completely agree. As sad as it is, I think Christine is over that part of her life and fully content with where she is now.

I think we very nearly got Christine on SYW and it wasn't her that pulled out of that in the end. It broke down on FM's side because they said that she couldn't record and not tour. But who knows what Lindsey was doing with her on the phone. Mick said he'd listen to them talking to each other over the phone and I just have to think they argued. So . . .

I don't think there would have been Meantime at all, if her juices hadn't started flowing after aborted SYW negotiations. That being the case, I could certainly see her recording with them in the future. If not an album, then a couple of tracks,.

I have to wonder if she feels burned by the whole Say You Will implosion, though? It seems like to me that she'd be pretty fed up with the drama of Fleetwood Mac after that, and just close the door to them once and for all. I can't help but think she offered to do one last studio album with the Rumours line up just to close that chapter of her life cleanly. That way she could say she'd done her due diligence, and come full circle.

She's getting close to 70 now... I just can't imagine she'd want to go back to FM at this point in her life. I just look at the scattered interviews she's done this past decade, and she talks about not even liking going into London anymore. She just seems like she wants to live out the rest of her days in quiet seclusion behind her high walled country estate.

What is the story behind the SYW negotiations. My assumption, based on limited information (DR doc, interviews) was always she quit after The Dance. Then when SYW was bout to start, she was invited and declined.

mylittledemon 05-15-2011 12:53 AM

It's a real shame Christine has yet to return... and an even greater shame that she's likely not to. I think SYW made it clear that this is a band that is much more cohesive and much more balanced with her in it. I liked SYW, and I like that FMac is still around... but it has been quite different without her, and ultimately, I don't think it's been an improvement.

There's no story, really. The band never went into the details. Stevie said,

Quote:

"Did I wish she were there? Absolutely. But she did not want to go on the road. It's not that she wouldn't have done this record; she would have. But if she couldn't go on the road, what would we have done if her songs had been the singles?"
Mick said that in the beginning, he would hear from Christine and she could have joined in the early stages of production, but then as they got farther along that became impractical and he told Lindsey, he didn't think Christine's involvement was going to happen. Then, in another interview he said that he would hear Christine and Lindsey talk on the phone and he didn't think it was going to happen. He didn't say what they were talking on the phone about.

^I wonder how the logistics of that would have worked out? Reportedly, Chris sold her LA home in '98 (I wonder what part of LA she lived in anyway?). I guess she would have had to rent & furnish a home in LA to make the album with the band? I suppose that's what Mick & John will have to do when the next FM album is made now that they both live in Hawaii. It's the pointless little logistical matters like these that occupy my mind. :o

Everytime I see that Stevie quote I can't help but roll my eyes. She acts like they choose singles by randomly drawing them from a hat. If you don't want one of her songs to be a single, don't make it one! And if it is so good that it has to be a single, oh well! People aren't going to NOT buy tickets to the concert because Christine McVie isn't performing her hit new single

Dodfather 05-15-2011 08:40 AM

I'd love her to return in any form at all but I really, really doubt whether it would happen.

I don't know that the artist really has much creative control over singles, do they? I believe that's the record company's domain.

chiliD 05-15-2011 12:56 PM

Christine involved?

What part of "NO" is that difficult to comprehend?

She's done...Fleetwood Mac is dead to her.

And at this stage in their career, how big of a hit single could it have been anyway? Were people going to storm the box office demanding their money back if they didn't hear it?

It wasn't going to be Fleetwood Mac's Smooth. Although, if Christine or any Macster had written Smooth, I would have had to kill myself with ecstasy, truth be told. Jealous.

I'm not sure what went down with that whole SYW thing. \Michele

When she says that, I'll believe it. Also, I'm going to tell you the truth. I don't mean to be morbid, but aside from regular reunions, I also envison surviving bandmembers coming together for a one-off tribute if they lose someone.

We all want her back. I don't see it happening though. because i think she is just spent as far as the band goes. We should just be happy with the years she gave us. She's so earned a nice quiet retirement:nod:
