IYD Tour?

I was curious with everyone do you think Stevie will do a full late summer/fall tour this year? I hope she does what do you think?

louielouie2000 05-13-2011 06:04 PM

If she can get a promoter to get some dates booked for her, I don't see why not. The problem she's going to run into is the fact the Heart and Soul tour already hit most of the major markets earlier this year. I don't think you can visit those twice. Stevie isn't the current "it girl," the market won't absorb her.

I am guessing she'll keep doing these little casino dates like she's been doing lately. I just wish she'd give up and start doing smaller theaters. She wouldn't have any problems then. That'd also allow her to hit smaller markets which she hasn't been to in decades, like Austin. :D And no doubt, she'd sell out every show if she did smaller venues (2,000-5,000 capacity). :)

That's brilliant, but I wonder if she'd go for smaller venues...

the small theatre (cap 2500) that I used to work at tried to book her but she was $350,000 and her management wouldn't budge on the price. I tried to convince the ceo that she could easily sell out even at a $150.00 ticket price but he still wouldn't book her.

I think it would be a mistake to NOT go out behind this album and tour. We've been waiting 10 years for something new/something Stevie new, and I am very curious to see what she would do with this album. We made this album open at #6--and I do believe it's the loyal fans, not the casual fans, that purchased this album.

I think we'd have to talk with Dave Stewart, as he seems a bit playful. Having seen the sizzle reel, imagine the designing of the stage set: fire eaters, vampires, ghostly apparitions . . . maybe an owl, and I'd love to see that Edgar Allan Poe dude walking around. She could turn this into one big Halloween party--and she's always said she enjoys Halloween. ;) I don't think she'd have any problem selling out her show.

it's not entirely uncommon for an artist or singer to double dip especially when coming off of or going into a joint tour by playing the same venue or the 'opposite' venue (indoor vs. outdoor, etc.).

But, with that being said, she is most likely going to be booked into smaller venues if she decides to head out.

That is the BEST idea I have heard in a long time for her show. Absolutely! Someone should Twitter Dave - especially since he has an album to support as well soon. I'd do it but don't use Twitter :(

MacMan 05-13-2011 11:44 PM

I keep thinking about a remark she made in one of her interviews when she was deciding to go on the road with Rod and she said her Management said to her something along the lines of "it's a good idea, you'll get to play your song (Secret Love), it's only a month of shows and it'll be like you worked this year". Basically meaning she'll haul in enough money within that month and won't need to do much else the rest of the year... Not that that has anything to do with promoting the album, it's more along the lines of making money... But it might play into it.

But I do think like Louie said, it would be hard hitting the same markets again. But really there's plenty of other markets she could hit, smaller markets... but it might be more work. She could do a secondary market run.

THAT was very telling. Thanks for giving us the details on that. I always wondered what the hell prevents her from doing smaller venues! Those idiots that are her management need to rethink their decisions. Unbelievable.

I think if she does a late summer/fall U.S. tour she can hit the same markets that she did with Rod. I really think she should have done was not tour with Rod and focus on this new album and I don't think the record label and publicits don't give Stevie enough confidence about her new work either. I think she will hit the same markets just play smaller venues she will sell out.

UnwindedDreams 05-14-2011 11:58 AM

Unitingnations, any idea when these dates would b announced? And I'm guessing these would be in July-august

StandbackStevie 05-14-2011 12:12 PM

not sure I think it would happen I hope.

UnwindedDreams 05-14-2011 12:25 PM

Rod said in an interview that it's probably going to happen again

I will be livid if it happens. What a waste of the IYD era if she tours again with Rod. It started out with such bang and excitement, that seems to be dwindling down and down..... I want an album tour, dammit.

StandbackStevie 05-14-2011 01:31 PM

If the heart and soul tour kicks into gear again and they come around here again I will attend cause it will be stevie's in your dreams tour but I really don't think the chemistry with Stevie and Rod were that great viewing from the Youtube filming and out of the duets they did I loved Passion better than the young turks and leather and lace.

Totally agree. One really has to question her management's decisions.

(.... still in vegas....waiting for my girlfriend to finish her hair and makeup so I can do mine. Why don't hotel rooms have two bathrooms?)

Ugh, no Nashville. Why do performers hate us? I have this dream of Stevie playing the Ryman. But given her high price I'm pretty sure it won't happen. :distress:

^ This is horrifying!!! No matter what they call it, it's a Rod Stewart show with Stevie Nicks. I did not like the experience at all. (besides seeing her, obviously) The only good thing is that more fans will get to see her, but this should not be the way!

WildHearted 05-14-2011 02:54 PM

I really don't want to go to a Heart & Soul show but I also don't want to miss Stevie.. ugh, I really wanted her to do her OWN IYD tour. That's why I didn't go to the Heart & Soul tour when it came to the city closest to me - and now if they come back around I'm sure they won't go there again.

Tango 05-14-2011 03:10 PM

There is so much potential to do this tour UP. Stevie needs to get a consultant in-- someone with a measure of vitality and vision, because this album has all the potential of being a FUN tour--a profitable tour, if the managers want to view it that way. If she doesn't want to make another solo album after this, fine. But give this album its fair shot.

Ah, another article talking about her reunion with "Lindsay Buckingham"--very well-researched:mad:

She could tour, but perhaps not in the kinds of venues she would want. Given how reliable unitingnations as been so far, I'm inclined to believe that another leg of Heart & Soul is in the works. Maybe she'll keep playing casinos as well?

I'm also in Nashville. The problem with our city is that we have so many labels that get a million free tickets for the industry folks, and whatever is left goes to the general public. A lot of bands don't come here because Nashville isn't profitable with ticket sales because of these labels and their free ticket "hoarding". It's one of the things that disappoints me about this city.

Last time Stevie came to Nashville as a solo act, was the TISL tour.

And yes, it would also be a DREAM COME TRUE for me if she played the Ryman. A lot of big artists (Dylan, Petty) usually play two nights in a row there. Stevie could easily do the same thing and sell out both nights!

Yes, the free ticket thing is very true. I've been the recipient of some of those tix from time to time. But I've noticed a lot of artists just raise the prices and we all get to pay for those free tickets per say. For example, I'm seeing Keith Urban when he's here and noticed that the tix for Nash cost a significant amount more than say his date in Chicago.

When she played here where did she play? I didn't move here until 2006 ( I was out of town when FM came in '09 too). Glad to see someone else shares my Ryman dream. Ah, someday.

Crystal_Elle 05-14-2011 06:47 PM

Honestly, I think if she goes on tour with Rod again the main reason is because it's the easy and most profitable option. Rod's people take care of most of the details, she just shows up. If she were to tour on her own (a full blown tour, not just random casino dates), her people would actually have to step it up and plan something. Does she even have an actual booking agent? I know she does all the casino shows because they're quick and pay very well. People have said before that she needs new management, I agree (hire me, I have artist mgt experience ;) ). This new album is the perfect opportunity to put her back on the map. There is so much potential for her to be amazing and close to back on top again. Unless of course she's the one calling all the shots, but from things she's said in interviews, I don't think that's the case.

Just my 2 cents.

She played at Starwood Ampitheatre in Sept 2001 for the TISL tour. It was amazing. She even grabbed both my hands during the EDGE walk. Amazing experience for me!

Ah... Rip Starwood. We really need another place like it. If I ever get rich, I'm totally building something like it.

Macfanforever 05-14-2011 09:31 PM

Personally I hope the Rod thing dont happen. This will be a big mistake for her. She's got to till Rod . NO.Again I have nothing against Rod Stewart.
She's got to focus on promoting IYD with a FULL set list. Not a digest version. If she does she can ditch the covers and do tunes from the IYD cd.

P.S. I'm not in the mood to get slammed in the the head with one of Rod's soccer balls like I almost did at the Mohegan Sun show.

WideSargassoSea 05-14-2011 10:05 PM

The only double bill I want to see is the elephant in the room...

...Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

I mean, honestly, I'm sure it's been said a thousand times, but what could be a better way to promote their new albums? Stevie has publicly expressed her "love" of Lindsey's new work. He collaborated on "Soldier's Angel." They seem to be on friendlier terms than they've been in years. They also have a huge body of work together with Fleetwood Mac -- plus the ace in the hole of Buckingham Nicks.

I'm prepared to be flamed, but from a financial standpoint, I think it would be viable as well. Stevie would have the opportunity to hit the same markets she did with Rod, and Lindsey could play larger venues without sacrificing his solo venture for the "Big Mac Machine." He could come out and do a solo set, then they'd do a few songs together (solo or Mac, whatever they desire) then she could do her set, then they'd close with a true blue Buckingham Nicks encore. To alleviate some of the tension, they could swap spots at each of the dates. (Shippers, note that I said swap spots...not swap spit. ;) )

I have no worldly want to see with Rod ever again. His teleprompter-rific version of "Leather and Lace" hurt my soul. Stevie...either hit the road solo and do theatres, or rock the sheds with LB in tow!

Livia 05-14-2011 11:07 PM

I second the wish for a B/N tour.

Dave's album is dropping in June. Didn't he tweet something about the possibility of he and Stevie touring together? I'd much rather see him opening for her, than her opening for Rod again.

ADAM_EVE 05-16-2011 02:07 PM

In a recednt e-mail my brother snet me (chain links?) Stevie said it would depend on how well IYD did. Also backstage at Oprah when I met her with Matt, she told me when I asked about her doing Europe, that for this tour she wanted to hit places she hadn't played ever or in a while. That was why they were doing europe. As for Casinos. Melissa Etheridge like Stevie is in the same boat.9re. ticket/album sales) Her upcoming summer tour is mainly in casino venues. (which I hate.) The reason (I'm told) casino shows are the way to go, is that they pay you even if you don't sell out. I think Stevie's ego is saying I played MSG, I'm not doing for ex. Beacon theater, (NYC) IMHO Stevie needs to get over herself and just promote the damn record properly. I wouldn't mind a B/N tour, but the problem with that is it would come off like a sort of FM show. I think this album is great and it's shame she isn't (so far) properly promoting it with a full on solo stevie tour. I think if she does one it will later this year.

StandbackStevie 05-16-2011 04:02 PM

I agree Lindsey and Stevie double headliner would be awesome Buckingham/Nicks Tour would be awesome other than that would be Heart Touring with Stevie and of course FM.

Exactly...there is no incentive at all for Stevie and Lindsey to do work together as "Buckingham Nicks" (either recording or tour), when, at this point, "Fleetwood Mac" essentially IS Buckingham Nicks, with a famous rhythm section backing them up. And why market something as a "small machine" (BN) when the "big machine" can pull in bigger crowds and more money?

Macfanforever 05-16-2011 05:32 PM

I love to see a B&N tour.I can hear them fighting now .who's going to open the show. That would be awesome.

SapphireSister 05-16-2011 05:36 PM

I'm really not feeling optimistic at the moment about her doing a tour in support of this album. No way for a BN reunion when he's promoting his solo stuff, he's just too selfish for that. So I say the most we can hope for are more Rod dates and an FM tour in 2012. What a shame :(. I mean seriously, it's almost June. Do you really see her all of the sudden announcing a summer/fall tour in support of the album? Anything's possible but I highly doubt it. Is this real or a nightmare? On a positive note since I'm the only person in the world who doesn't adore IYD I shouldn't be too disappointed.

Because they need to do the BN songs. I would even be fine with the FM bill as long as they did a BN segment in the middle, around Landslide.

The incentive at this point is personal and just for melancholy. I think they still have that - or at least Stevie does.

Oh I would love for them to tour as BN and do BN songs...but if Stevie can't do songs from the album she just released because people won't know them, then she sure as hell will need some MAJOR convincing in order to do a proper BN tour.

I think the latter scenario you suggested is more likely...FM doing a few BN songs. I think it's a longshot, and I would absolutely LOVE it...but Fleetwood Mac, to me, has not been associated with "risk taking" since Tusk.
