I Would Cry...
I was just reminded of Crystal which I haven't listened to in a while and decided NOT to play it since it brings me to tears every time I listen (Practical Magic version) and I don't want to be sad. I also have a hard time listening to Beauty and the Beast blues jam without welling up. Sometimes I cry tears of joy because it's so beautiful it hurts. This happened to me just yesterday with my girlfriend Annabell Lee in the car.
Maybe I'm just a total emo? lol So what Stevie/FM songs make you cry? :( |
Love. Freaking. Is. Enough said.
I lose my sh*t to that song. |

Beautiful Child.
Touched by an Angel. I teared up during BATB in Vegas a couple years ago. I was in front and she looked at me when she sang, " would you die of grieving when I leave..." I lost it. More recent, Italian Summer. Jamie |

Alright so I'm still a new listener and I've only heard up to the Live album because I'm going by date order of when they were released because I'm kind of weird like that:wavey:; but the Stevie/FM songs that make me cry would have to be:
1. Crystal (One of the most epic, beautiful and touching songs ever written) 2. Landslide (I was on the way home from Spring Break listening to the white album on shuffle and this song came on and I started bawling. With graduation and everything going on this song is extremely special to me right now. However, the emotion of the studio version does not even begin to compare with the version from the live album. I swear once Stevie starts getting all emotional I'm long gone.) 3. Songbird (one of the most poignant love songs of all time. Christine Mcvie is severely underrated:nod:) 4. Storms (I don't know if this too personal but I can relate to this song extremely well I swear whenever I listen to this song I feel like Stevie took the words I cannot say and put them to a melody...love her.) 5. Sisters of the Moon Demo (As much as I love the studio version, this one with all of the original lyrics and the emotion she had while singing it...kills me) 6. Never Make Me Cry (Ironically this one makes me cry...another beautiful song from the world's most underrated album:Tusk) 7. Beautiful Child (love this song..."Your eyes say yes but you don't say yes *shivers and tears*) OK so maybe I just cry a lot and I'm sure there will be more to listen to as I go through the albums and get to Stevie's solo stuff. But I can honestly say that this band has some of the most touching lyrics I have ever heard. Sorry to ramble :)! |

Some other tearjerkers for me, as taken from my "Heartbreaking Stevie Sh*t" playlist on iTunes: Storms CRYSTAL (this will be my wedding song) Beautiful Child Silver Springs FORSAKEN LOVE These songs perfectly describe a specific situation from my past, so they get me pretty badly. |
Silver Springs makes me wanna punch someone, not cry.

I totally get it. I always liked FM and Stevie before seeing her perform Silver Springs during The Dance, but AFTER that happened, I was hooked. Jamie |

MANY SONGS, FOR VARIOUS REASONS..HERE ARE A FEW:
Crystal: either version (FM or Practical Magic) I want this song at my wedding, if I can ever find Mr. Right  I have been lookign for the real thing for so long, the line "That has finally, finally found me" gets me every time. Gypsy: This is my theme song. So much so, I have the lyrics tattooed on my shoulder blade. This song makes me happy, and simply floods me with beauty. Beautiful Child: No explanation needed....just a gut-wrenchingly beautiful, poignant masterpiece. God's Garden: Not only does this song rip my heart out lyrically, just the tired, completely worn out sound of Stevie's voice makes me cry for her. I know she was heavily addicted to Klonopin at the time, and the whole thing is just so sad. she was missing her best friend, and just in a sad state in her life. There are only a few times I am actually able to make it through this entire song. |

One more thing:
I know there are mixed feelings about this demo, and some people find it ridiculous, but the Rhainnon Birds Rising demo makes me cry like a fool. The part where Stevie says: "Lindsey, don't you think that Rhiannon is a beautiful name?" "Yes, stevie I do......I think that Rhiannon is a beautiful name" Oh My LORD! The mere sound of her voice during that line just kills me. She really, truly loved him...... |
"Love Is" (that line "she told in the hallway frozen, in the dark, and her heart broke down, she cried, she fell to the floor")
"Sleeping Angel" (dunno why but for some reason the end gets me) |
Very cool thread, Lindsay.
A few of Stevie's songs make me cry...Love Is, Gypsy, Silver Springs. But the one that gets me is Seven Wonders. Does anyone here remember when MTV actually played FMac videos? I do :wavey:. I rememeber my best friend and I being young, excited girls watching MTV and waiting for the premiere of the Seven Wonders video. Stevie looked so beautiful in this video, and of course we wanted to be her! When I hear that song, it just takes me back to being a kid in the 80's. Good times. |
Of the new ones, the one I've misted up for is:
For What It's Worth. That "you saved my life" thing she does toward the middle is just...fabulous and hearwrenching. Others: Stevie: Live...even if it's not hers, Circle Dance. I cried (a little, I'm not a big crier) every single time I heard it that summer. Her voice just held such strength and brought back my own dad's passing. FM- Say Goodbye. I love the recording so I was waiting for it live. And, the first three times (I believe) someone in the audience, to my left, right, back or front, did something to interrupt my rapt attention during the performance. And, then, I was lucky enough to get front row a few times and stood at the stage. A few times right between Stevie and Lindsey. There was one time (I think Philly) where the two of them absolutely did not break each other's gaze during the entire thing. It was something to behold. Silver Springs: not so much for the song itself but for being the song that got me into this whole shebang. I only got to see it live ...twice maybe? before it was dumped from the setlist of SYW. And, last but not least, the oddest one...Gold Dust Woman! I remember one concert where I watched and remembered my very first Stevie live experience. The Central Park in Blue thing with Sheryl Crow. I made my way up in this massive crowd and it was raining lightly and...there she was. Years later, for some reason, while I was watching her sing it during the Camden/Philly next to last SYW show (a very, very emotional show by the way), I just got all verklempt. |
Landslide,B and the B,Storms to name a few that turns on the waterworks for me.
|
Rose Garden. When she sings "well I've got all these things... all these things but a small gold band... on my finger... on my left hand".
I cry for all the people who've passed up their one great love and regretted it ever since. I cry for myself for not having found the man of my dreams yet. And I cry for all my friends who have spent years with the love of their life and yet still can't legally call them "husband" or "wife". Silver Springs. I had goosebumps when I saw the Dance, and having not known beforehand they were going to do it when she sang the first few lines I immediately started to cry because I knew what the song meant to her and that she was finally going to get to perform it. But the studio version they had on The Chain will always be my favorite. There was once a boy who was a very good friend. Our friendship had a love and a closeness that few others had, yet he was straight and we could never be together. I longed for him, and he knew it. He was kind. And one day he fell in love with a girl. "So I begin not to love you... turn around, see me running... I'll say I loved you years ago... and tell myself you never loved me." Breaks my heart every time. Beautiful Child. "You say it will be harder in the morning... I wait for you to say just go". Always gets me. Moonlight. I've written about this in other threads. It speaks to my soul about a lot of stuff I'm going through right now. And the things I can't walk way from. And the fact that the Lady from the Mountain has finally found a home. That makes me so happy. And lastly, when Stevie thanked Ellen for letting her perform Secret Love the other day. She was so humble and so sweet. And the look in her eyes showed that she really meant it. I couldn't stop crying when I saw that. |
Aww, we're such a bunch of saps! Love it!
I mist up at 'Gypsy' quite a lot, because it's just so perfect and sparkly and yet wistful. A single tear will often roll during 'Silver Springs' and 'Sara'. I'm usually in bits at the end of 'Blue Water'. Don't know why, except that I love the sea too, and all that waiting for the sound of my gypsy.... Cannot even get to the end of 'I Miss You', from TISL. I think it's something in the musical arrangement that sets me off. I am literally tearing up as a type this. Whyyyyyyy?? Loz |
Anything live, forget it. I'm pretty much a blubbering idiot throughout the whole show. I used to cry a lot over Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You when I was a young girl (20s). I would play it just so I could cry! Those tears were for me and my situation at the time. I have choked up many times listening to Red Rock's Beauty and the Beast, purely over the way she sings it. I *almost* burst into tears when I first walked into NOTS last year. The energy was fantastic. My first thought was, "my people!!!" HAHAHA

Beautiful Child + Storms. Every time. Without fail.
Silver Springs, Landslide, Beauty and the Beast, Love Is and When I See You Again if I'm in a particularly sad mood. Although, I found myself crying to Thrown Down the other night, and I have no idea where THAT came from. |
Storms for sure. When I *really* discovered FM for the first time via the Very Best Of, I was a sobbing mess over this song. I actually had to go a little while without listening to it because it honestly made me far too sad to function in any responsible way afterwards.

Having established this, there's a good chance I will have to be taken out of Stevie's anticipated November concert on a stretcher, with oxygen  |
Storms and Beautiful Child have always brought out the girl in me. Storms most definitely because I can relate to it so well. It's amazing how many people actually pick these two. Though I suppose each Mac song becomes a stereotype in their own right. Don't Stop also gets the tears flowing, because it gives me a message that has been somewhat lacking in the rest of my life. When things are so bad in my real life that I think I can't cope, Don't Stop is just a friendly, cliched reminder that it's not as bad as I think.
Though I'd deny this to the ground in real life, I cried during the first three songs of the first and only Fleetwood Mac show I ever saw. Rhiannon, Gypsy and Dreams if I remember correctly. |
