Least Favorite Stevie song from Tusk

Time to vote for your least favorite Stevie Nicks song from Tusk.

Poll closes in 4 days.

WildHearted 05-08-2011 07:21 PM

This was so freaking hard, but Angel. It's awesome but the album version could be improved by the faster tempo they used when playing it live.

Artemis 05-08-2011 07:30 PM

This is the one poll where I literally can't vote for a single song. I can't even nitpick a single thing on any of them. Tusk is Stevie's greatest work with Fleetwood Mac.

mezzoforte 05-08-2011 07:31 PM

I've always considered Stevie's Tusk contributions virtually flawless, but I had to go with Beautiful Child. Gorgeous song, but it's just a touch too slow for me.

MarkMc1990 05-08-2011 07:36 PM

I voted Angel. I love the rest of her songs on this album.

KarmaContestant 05-08-2011 07:47 PM

I voted Angel, without even thinking about it. Spanning Stevie's career, it is one of her better songs; in a line up with her Tusk material however, it's easily the weakest link.

bluefox4000 05-08-2011 07:55 PM

This was easy, come on.....lol. Angel. It's weak when put up against those other juggernauts

MarkMc1990 05-08-2011 08:03 PM

While we're talking about Stevie's songs on this album, why is it that it took 27 years for Storms to get live performance treatment?

TrueFaith77 05-08-2011 08:07 PM

I voted Storms. And I have no excuses. But "Angel," I think, gets mistaken for the weak link but I get goosebumps during the "look up" part. I think she utterly captures a moment. But "Storms" is exquisite. And so powerful.

fumidesigns 05-08-2011 08:17 PM

this poll is rude.

j/k :)

I would love it get an answer to this question from one of them. I first heard that song on...like friday I think and it surpasses so many of their other songs for me. It is so beautiful.

caroline79 05-08-2011 08:43 PM

I had to go with Sara. Maybe once I listen to it more I will love it, but right now, out of all the choices, it is the weakest song for me.

"I'm not a child anymore
I am tall enough to reach for the stars
I am old enough to love you from afar
too trusting? yes, but then women usually are"
-why I love Beautiful Child

I might have chosen Sisters of the Moon had I not heard the piano demo. I think that is one of the most beautiful performances I have ever heard.

Even though Angel is getting a little tired for me, I still like it.

Storms is becoming my favorite FM song. The chorus is absolutely haunting.

Right? Wonder what rare track Stevie will perform next tour? I'm pulling for Straight Back! :D

Regarding lest fav song on Tusk: Angel. It's a giant steaming turd of boredom.

I agree completely and this is the best sig pic you've ever created. Love the clip from Little Lies inside the banner. You are so creative. I love that about you!

And a Top 5 Fleetwood Mac song of all time. Peter Green better not bring Oh Well in the house when Angel is around.:p

"Angel". But I'm glad it got on the album or we wouldn't have the live (bra-less) version from the Tusk documentary.

This is a trick question, right? And it's weird that Angel is "winning" because that is my very favorite F Mac song. Period. ;)

JesusRumours 05-09-2011 12:32 AM

All of them are GREAT songs, but we all know that Angel is not as good as the other ones.

pattyfan 05-09-2011 12:52 AM

Careful there :) We don't ALL know that :)

This is really, really hard. I think all her Tusk songs are excellent and I love Angel. I'll vote for it as the weakest though only because I prefer the faster tempo of the live version and her kick-ass vocals at the end. If that version was on the album... oh yes!

Also, does anyone else think that the mix of Sisters Of The Moon just plain sucks?? Her vocals are barely audible at times.

Yep, i hate the studio version of Sisters of the Moon. The live, though, is fantastic, so it kind of breaks my heart to vote against this one. Angel is better live too, but the difference is not that HUGE compared to Sisters of the Moon and its studio version.
Songs like Beautiful Child, Sara, or Storms, however, are studio masterpieces, and are not quite that good when they're done live.

McTrouble 05-09-2011 05:37 AM

That was an easy one - don't much like Beautiful Child.

The other Stevie songs on Tusk are well good.

I felt like this and then I saw the stunning performance of it on the Live In Boston dvd. I suddenly "got" the song and now I love it.

It sort of worked the other way for me - I watch LiB at least once a week and a while ago I started to skip past Beautiful Child. It's the only one in that concert that I skip though!

ryan4136 05-09-2011 12:04 PM

I can not vote, there is no such thing as a least favorite stevie song on tusk....it's all A+ material :sorry:

windbecame 05-09-2011 04:42 PM

i had to go with Angel! i don't mind it live(esp solo) but the album version... yuck! i said on here once before...but what kills it for me is the part in the song where someone sings outta key "i knew you would" it sounds horrible to me. some people say it's lindsey...others say it's christine.. (i have a horrible feeling it's Stevie and she did a few fat lines of coke before recording and had a MAJOR backdrip and kept singing and they just left that part on:lol:) but whoever it is, that lone "i knew you would" just kills it for me... sorry!!!

TerraRhiannon 05-09-2011 04:48 PM

All these songs are golden... but I'mma say Storms, it took me the longest to get into.

Unpopular opinion is unpopular. apparently :P

jcalzaretta 05-09-2011 05:07 PM

Impossible. Stevie's songs on Tusk were flawless.

shackin'up 05-09-2011 05:14 PM

I'm gonna hold my vote, too. I can pick out a least favorite Stevie song from every friggin' album she did. But not on this one. I really think these tracks are all sheer brilliance in 5 totally different ways. An impossible effort, but she did it on Tusk.

jellyman10 05-10-2011 04:52 AM

As others have said, her Tusk songs are the strongest she has on any Mac album, so it's Sophie's Choice!

But 'Beautiful Child' just drags a bit. For me. Sometimes. A bit.

Sisters of the Moon, for me.

Like all of you, these songs are gems. Perfect record for Ms. Nicks.

tabruns 05-10-2011 01:13 PM

For me this is basically the "least favorite" of 5 songs that I really like a lot, but I ended up going with "Sisters of the Moon". I thought the live version with the extended coda ("sister.....brother.....sister" etc.) was superior to the recorded version.

xxxmx 05-10-2011 06:08 PM

Not possible.

When defending Mama's honor from attacking Christine or Buck fans, I always point to Tusk.

Jake, you are such a MAN.

:wavey:

tabruns 05-10-2011 10:10 PM

I hope this isn't considered too off topic for this thread but does anyone know why Stevie only got 5 songs on Tusk? She gets 3 on all the other Mac albums, so I thought she'd at least get 6 on Tusk. I was actually hoping for MORE before it came out, knowing what prolific songwriter Stevie is.

I've always thought a possible sixth song could have been a piano-based "Sorcerer" (basically the Marilyn Martin version but with Stevie singing it).

I think it's to do with the length of the songs. I did this once; if you add up all the song lengths. Stevie gets the most on the album, followed very closely (I think it was a matter of seconds - and that's only if you're counting the full-length Sara) by Lindsey, whilst it was Christine who had the least amount of lead vocal time.

Tada. I knew I had this on my PC somewhere;

Stevie

6:27
5:29
4:40
4:53
5:23

Total: 26:52

Lindsey

2:02
2:40
3:32
3:04
3:13
1:48
3:02
3:48
3:36

Total: 26:45

Christine

4:36
2:44
4:30
2:14
2:43
3:44

Total: 20:31

So, that's why Stevie only gets 5 songs; the sheer length of them means she gets more album space than Lindsey. If anything, Christine should have more.

I was wondering/upset about this too awhile back. However compared to Lindsey's 9 songs, Christine's 6 & Stevie's 5 aren't that bad. Lindsey's were so short while Stevie's were all like 5 minutes in length.

What the result is that Lindsey has more of a scattered presence through out the double album, whereas the girls are in confined doses.

Hmmm...I never thought about it like that, you make a very good point! I do wish Lindsey's songs were longer though, as soon as I really start getting into them they are over!
