Rumours I-tunes boost

So I was just on I-tunes store (Canada) today, and looking at albums sales. Rumours is at #5! Where did that come from? Not that it's a bad thing.

I took a look at it. I'm kind of surprised they don't have "Silver Springs" on the tracklist for the I-tunes version. Guess they want to keep it like the original.

It's a show called 'Glee'! ;)

MacShadowsBall 05-07-2011 08:30 PM

Though I didn't really care the Glee versions of the songs, I'm thrilled that new fans or older fans are rediscovering the Mac.

Me too! That is so awesome! :D

HighPassion 05-07-2011 08:40 PM

Hahahhahaha. Totally forgot about the whole "Glee" thing. What a brain fart:rolleyes:

I don't really watch it, although I've been meaning to watch the Rumours episode.

For some reason I don't think it's about fornicating, cocaine, and an intense web of hooking up and heartbreak as the album... But I've never seen the show

It's cool to see the effect that show had though, considering I doubt it was even on the I-tunes charts and now it's #5!! Yay. People will see the better versions better

candlebright86 05-08-2011 07:07 AM

it was number 2 in the Irish iTunes charts the other day! I was beside myself!... it's number 3 now, but number 2 in the US...

As much and all as I love Adele, I wish she didn't have her album out at the moment :P

erwk05 05-08-2011 07:09 AM

just finished watching the rumours episode on Glee, Ive never even watched the show before .

They did a decent version of GYOW and I dont want to know but their rendition of Dont stop didnt sit right with me personally!

Im not a glee fan, its good for the mac getting their name out there with the younger crowds BUT its going to be even harder to get concert tickets now with all the GLEEKs trying to get tickets now too :)

Tellurium 05-08-2011 07:37 AM

Not to worry, I think most of the GLEEKS will stick to the Glee tours and leave the real thing for the rest of us. ;)

Call me Scrooge, but much as I love Kristen Chenoweth, I find most of Glee pretty annoying and would've liked them to leave this album alone. I don't really care that it promoted Rumours. Rumours doesn't need promotion and has always done just fine, thanks very much! ;) Thankfully I don't think any of the renditions were really good enough to eclipse the originals in the eyes of viewers, unlike poor Don't Stop Believing (it always irks me when people say that's "a song from Glee".)

henryscutter 05-09-2011 01:31 AM

I talked to my 15 year old neice today and she was telling me about all the kids in school saying they like Fleetwood Mac now. This girl has been listening to Stevie/Mac for 12 of her 15 years and been to 4 concerts. Her attitude made me laugh, she is like oh please go find your own music this is mine  I guess she is having trouble sharing. Even though I dont get into Glee I am glad they are introducing good music to these starving children

Oh, it's about all of those things, except maybe the cocaine. :p

Wouldn't it be amazing if it finally hit 20X platinum?

What is it currently at in platinum count?

Amazon Rankings (as of today... shoulda checked at the height of sales):

MP3: #14 Paid in MP3 Albums (See Top 100 Paid in MP3 Albums)
CD: #29 in Music (See Top 100 in Music)
Deluxe: #214 in Music (See Top 100 in Music)

Shame that the deluxe is so low. People need to hear this remastered. :(

kak125 05-09-2011 03:41 PM

also on hits daily double it at 21 with only 36% of sales in for this week

Although I'm not sure if it's their 'Official' page, the FM facebook page has gone up in the THOUSANDS sinse last Tuesday! :)

TerraRhiannon 05-09-2011 04:44 PM

I told Mom Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' is gaining popularity like no one's business. She said she doesn't know why because it's such a stupid show. Hahaha. I have to agree, but I'm really glad kids and other people are discovering or rediscovering them, it's really great. I just hate how people are like, "Oh my god, they are the best thing in the world, my new favorite band!'' No, they're not. You know like 5 songs, and half of an album. You just watched Glee, they aren't your life soundtrack, take a second to appreciate them for what they really are. Gesh........ *major eye roll*

It has like 900,000 fans practically. :) I can't remember what it used to be though.

I'm pretty sure it's been lagging at 19X platinum (19,000,000 sales) for years now. This boost could finally put it at the 20 mark.

That's for American sales, right? Cause I thought it was at least a 40x Platinum.

MarkMc1990 05-09-2011 05:04 PM

Yep, American sales. I should have clarified that.

jcalzaretta 05-09-2011 05:11 PM

It has been at 19X times last certification in 2003.

MarkMc1990 05-10-2011 10:36 PM

Sorry if this is old news, but if so just consider it an update, but Rumours is currently #2 on iTunes :)

jcalzaretta 05-11-2011 05:25 PM

Rumours coming into charts (released tomorrow) at number 11.

Wonder if that suggests word-of-mouth. Kids telling their friends: OMG, you have you get this ablum called Rumors [sic]!!

ETA: I am not mocking. It's wonderful if true.

ETA: RUMOURS #6. IN YOUR DREAMS #69. Imagine if the new Mac album had come out two weeks ago. wow. this is proof they care about art more than money. ;)

DoubtfulMiracle 05-18-2011 07:41 AM

The Rumours episode of Glee aired here in Australia tonight. The album is now #1 on the Australian iTunes chart, with the 1975 FM album at #20.

On the iTunes singles chart, GYOW is #12, and Dreams is at #31.

Seriously, the power of Glee blows my mind.

Artemis 05-18-2011 08:25 AM

It's #2 on the UK iTunes chart, too. If they manage to over-take Adele, they could very well hit #1 in the UK again... which would be incredible.

StephenC 05-18-2011 08:29 AM

Amazing to see it's number 2 in the UK iTunes chart - maybe every home in the UK now has one version of Rumours. I remember after TITN was released, Rumours re-entered the top 100 for about 2 years.

Great to see, but I still really loath Glee!

kak125 05-19-2011 09:35 AM

Rumours is at #38 on the billboard charts this week.
FM Greatest Hits is at #187.
