Perez Hilton interview is here
click for video
http://perezhilton.com/2011-05-04-pe...s-stevie-nicks The first lady of rock 'n' roll! A true legend and one of our all-time favorites!!! Perez recently had the rare opportunity and privilege to be invited into the home of Stevie Nicks to talks about her new album, In Your Dreams, which was released this week. Her first solo record in 10 years!!! We talked about why there was such a long delay between albums, the music industry, how she made this new record, why she had Lindsey Buckingham play on it, the future of Fleetwood Mac, what new artists she's loving - and so much more! Read highlights from our chat after the jump and watch our interview in full (above)!!! P.S. Katy Perry will be very happy after she sees this video! Stevie Nicks: Right, I did a big Fleetwood Mac 83 shows tour. And when I got done with that, I said, "I'm ready to make a record and I don't care if anybody buys it. I'm just going to — I'm making it for me. But I, when I make something for me, I know that if I love it, my fans will love it. Perez Hilton: Now I heard rumors that Fleetwood Mac might be getting back together next year. Is that true? Can we talk about that? Stevie Nicks: Always. Perez Hilton: It's definitely happening? Stevie Nicks: Lindsey has a record coming out in the fall and by the way it's extraordinary. Perez Hilton: Are you on his record? Stevie Nicks: No. But that was before we had our amazing peace you know. But it's my favorite thing he's ever done. I think it's brilliant. I think he took some serious melody pills and lyric pills and he came up with a beautiful, beautiful album. So that's going out in the fall. This is coming out May 3rd, next week. Perez Hilton: Yeah. Stevie Nicks: So by the time, you know when this album and Lindsey's album come to a stop then Fleetwood Mac will gather again and we'll either make another record or we won't and we'll just go on tour. Perez Hilton: So that hasn't been decided yet if there will be a new record? Stevie Nicks: That hasn't, no. Perez Hilton: So you just got off the road with Rod Stewart, might you be doing your own solo tour soon? Stevie Nicks: It all depends on what happens when this record comes out. And I have said this to many people because – Perez Hilton: What do you mean? Stevie Nicks: — you don't really know. Perez Hilton: So if it doesn't sell that much you're not going to tour? Stevie Nicks: Yeah, if the record comes out and it you know blasts out like a rocket, and then all of a sudden you'll start getting offers from promoters from Europe, from the United States, from Australia. We're already going to Australia in November. We do well in Australia. I don't even have to have a record to go to Australia. But, so if the record is a huge you know sparkler then you nev–you don't know because people will wait. All the promoters, all the people in this business will wait to see what this record does. And if it does really well then – Perez Hilton: But you're Stevie Nicks, you could tour whenever you want. Stevie Nicks: I know. But I just did 18 shows coming across the United States with Rod Stewart. So we have really played the United States even though there's you know there's 50 more, we did 53 Fleetwood Mac shows two years ago. So there's you know thousands of other cities you can go to. But, I can't tell you Perez because I honestly don't know. What do I hope? I hope that this come out of the gate like a rocket and I hope that people do love it and I hope that we get offers to play all over the world. Perez Hilton: Is there anybody you're really liking these days? Stevie Nicks: I — well my favorite song right now is Katy Perry song "ET". Perez Hilton: Really? Stevie Nicks: That's my favorite. |
That damn Katy Perry song. It's awfuly catchy.
|
so Stevie is definitely touring in Australia but not sure about here
|
OMG, I'm so going back to Australia!!! :blob1:
But I'm rather shocked that she hasn't already slated a 30-city tour in the U.S. It just goes to show you that, despite her saying that she doesn't really care whether the album sells or not, she does care! She's under the delusion that the album will be such a blockbuster that offers will flood her inbox. Really? |

Perez has been taking question-asking tips from Ellen.......
|
Wow, that totally blows. She sounds pretty uncertain about a full on US tour for the album...I thought that was a done deal! I figured she and Dave would be hitting the road together since they both have fresh albums.
|
grr this interview annoyed me?!!! stevie needs to do a solo tour stat! i have no idea why she is worried about touring. she doesnt need to do the huge sheds anymore. she should be thinking about playing places that hold between 5,000-10,000 seats. ugh! i want to hear stevie singing annabel lee or moonlight this summer. why stevie why?! i want her cd to go to #1 and sell millions but thats just not going to happen.
i do like that she likes katy perry though. i just got into her and have been obsessed with ET too. |
Good, stop touring altogether and get your butt back in the studio!
|
This is my favorite part:
"He took some serious melody pills, and lyrics pills, and came up with a beautiful, beautiful album." It's her little acknowledgment that some of his previous stuff might have been a bit out-there and maybe not to her liking...but he took the meds and fixed it  |
Katy Perry? Seriously? Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear. Probably not a popular opinion, but I hate it how much more established artists try and make connections with younger audiences by claiming to enjoy newer artists. Maybe sometimes it's true, but on the whole they are just big fat liars.
|
I have to wonder if she isn't all that interested in touring at this point, cause she could afford to back it herself? Maybe it will be just a few shows here and there? Bummer! oh well I am second row center for Las Vegas!

Thanks for posting. I've never seen Perez before, but have heard of him. That was a nice little interview and she looked great. Weird how she has to wait for promoters to see if she'll tour. Makes it seem like the Rod tour was not such a good thing, if that ends up being a reason for no one to want to promote her to tour again now. It did seem silly to me for her to tour right before a cd coming out, but I'm clueless in that whole music world business.
I love Stevie's poetry. I wish she'd release a book of it since it will never all fit on enough cd's. Usually when I would get a new Stevie album I'd read lyrics first before listening to it because I love just her words as they are just as much as they are in the songs. |
Played the video of the interview. She sounds pretty healthy.
So does he. |
I'm not in the least surprised that she let it slip that she really does care very much if the album sell. Her identity is her rock stardom. She would never really be comfortable with reduced venues and the loss of the other trappings of stardom .

E.T.? That is the only song of Katy's latest 4 singles I don't like. Wonder if she likes the regular version or the remix w/Kanye West lol.

E.T. gets stuck in my head all the time but I acknowledge it as a god-awful song. & She liked Maroon 5 about seven years ago, yikes:lol:
But anyway:Perez you SUCK. Edit:Also to add:slightly unfortunate that she SO dependant on a hit record to feel good.It should not matter at this point, she should just enjoy it's release and feel proud whether it sells a million or just one copy. |

Nicely done. I wish it was longer! Perez did a really good job on this interview. I am surprised. I didn't hold out much hope for him.

QUOTE] Great, this is exactly what I feared would happen. Can someone please tell me why it was a good idea for her to tour with Rod? I feel like that decision just sabatoged the entire release...what's done is done (and I'm probably just really heated from the fact that I think her touring with him and then being immediately shoved into aggressive promotion has every reason with why she ended up getting sick at the worst of all times) But now she's saying that touring with Rod has taken away the possibility of a tour supporting the release unless it does really well?? If she had time to rest for this time in her life that was so important for the release of the record, she would have really been able to see how all of the release date promo high-profile events would have helped the record. And...if she hadn't toured with Rod, she probably would have toured no matter how the record did. :( |

She lied to me! She told me in San Diego she was for sure touring solo after the Rod gigs when I asked her. I'm scarred for life!

On a side note, has anyone out there in the fashion industry ever seen the pantyhose-custom-made-gloves before? They are so distracting --- maybe hiding the aging hands, or are they magnetic trreatment for arthritis, or seriously, some new fashion thing ?? Please, enlighten me..ugh. |

She looks so pretty with her wavy hair, much better than the super-straight look.

i hate the gloves though. its almost summer and it looks odd to see her wearing those now when its warmer out. |

If the CD does well, I can see her doing a short U.S. tour in late summer/early fall, leading up to Australia.
As for her tour with Rod, it gave her massive media attention and also helped to put her back on the public's mind. Plus, almost every review I read mentioned she had a new CD coming out. Plus she looked really good, and even the few so-so reviews marked about how happy and fresh she looked. It was all very good PR. I think at some point she gives up touring, or only does smaller shows. I can't really see her going on full-throttle much longer. She's looking and sounding good for her age, but she's still nearly 63, and the body starts to naturally slow down. |

I agree with all that you just said. This just sucks. And I'm convinced the Rod thing did help eff up the promotion for IYD. They cut it too close and now she's sick! Does anyone here know - is it STEVIE or her MANAGEMENT that insists on her only playing large venues? Whoever it is, they need to get over it. Jamie |
I'm going to be a little annoyed if she does end up touring the US and Australia again but doesn't play at least one solo show in London. It's not like she's unknown here or couldn't sell out a show. Her association with Fleetwood Mac would surely guarantee a sell out or near to. She could play somewhere like Royal Albert Hall. I don't really want to pay for the Hard Rock Calling show in Hyde Park when I don't paticularly like Rod Stewart or anyone else on the bill.
I was actually looking at the box office date on FMLegacy. com and I was surprised to see that she's rarely been able to sell out a large arena on any of her solo tours post Rock a Little. I noticed that the smaller venues that held around 5,000-7,000 people sold out while the bigger venues of 10,000 + she had trouble with. Why put her in venues she couldn't possibly sell out as a solo artist? Some shows were less than 30% sold in a 15,000+ seat arena. She should just swallow her pride and stick to the amphitheatres and smaller venues etc. |
