Rachel Zoe promoting IYD

This is what she had to say:

This may come as a surprise, but it has been quite a while since I have made a modern-day music purchase. Not unlike my closet, my iPod is filled with mostly vintage treasures by The Doors, Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac and more. (See my complete iTunes playlist here). However, once in a blue moon something really special comes along to pique my interest, such as Stevie Nicks’ just-released album, In Your Dreams!

Debuting today, In Your Dreams puts an end to the decade waiting period since Stevie Nicks’ last record was released. As a longtime fan of both her solo career and work with Fleetwood Mac, I will say that this gypset gem was totally worth the wait! Combining storytelling, imagery and Nicks’ distinctive vocals, it is every bit as romantic and soulful as I dreamed it to be. Intrigued? Add In Your Dreams to your spring playlist today to hear for yourself…spellbound by Stevie! xoRZ

I just love how this younger generation of celebs is coming out of the closet with their full love of Stevie. Growing up in the late '80s and the '90s, Stevie was a total joke to everyone. NOBODY would admit loving her, or being influenced by her. The Dance was definitely the watershed moment where celebs started openly professing their love for Stevie once again, and the momentum has been building ever since. Especially with this younger crop of celebs. Even back in her heyday, Stevie was never truly taken seriously by rock critics. She was lampooned almost universally. It's such a different story with In Your Dreams... we're seeing the first truly gushing album reviews of Stevie's career! I've gotta say, it's highly vindicating :).

Rachel was singing her praises on her show with Goldie Hawn's daughter.

She is a stylist and has her own show on BRAVO. The Rachel Zoe project. She dresses stars for events like the Oscars.

WildHeart69 05-03-2011 08:49 PM

^ Yeah, can someone fill me (us) in?

Ah, thanks!

It's TOTALLY vindicating. I played the CD at work today and people (Co-workers and clients alike) were really getting into it. It just makes me want to do the "I told ya so dance" (Will and Grace reference)

I think people will finally "get" what we have been "getting" all these years.

I found that people either :
a) love stevie (like us)
b) can't stand her and never will like her...
c) think they dislike her but hear her songs repeatedly five or six hundred times and then grow to like her. In the least they associate their newfound love of Miss Nicks with the one who perpetrated (you) the repeated listening sessions.

Mackenzie Phillips was tweeting today that she was downloading IYD and said that she was loving it. She totally strikes me as a Stevie fan.

I really don't feel like celebrities gush over albums the way they've been gushing over this one... but maybe I'm just completely aloof to the way the world works outside of my Stevie-scape.

Rachel is part of the fashion world and they LOVE HER

I wonder how she's doing? I hope she wasn't High!

She really messed things up with her sister.

btw, Chynna's a huge Stevie fan!

That's an absolutely accurate assessment! This album will/is having a huge, lasting impact on Stevie's legacy. You mention about people not admitting loving her, I felt just like that in high school with Fleetwood Mac. They were my "secret love" at a time when they were not very cool with my peer group.

d) think Stevie is the guy who used to sing with some chick named Lindsay Buckingham.
e) think Stevie was pretty great but destroyed her voice in the early '80s & is now un-listenable.

Is anyone else shocked at how good Kate Hudson sounded singing "Silver Springs"? I think Stevie just found the woman who can play her in the biopic.

Wow......after reading I have to admit I feel old! I was 18 when Rhiannon was the craze and all us girls wanted to dress up like Stevie and be Rhiannon along with her! It was almost like a, "Rhiannon cult" so to speak. I do agree though that the rock critics never did take her seriously, not even Jimmy Iovine as well when they hooked up to do Bella Donna. He told her straight up she wasn't a proven singer and had to be serious. In her early days the media and critics were critical of her and she struggled with that...to the point where she said she wanted to quit.

Perfect choice! I wonder how Stevie would feel about this. Is she a Kate Hudson fan?
