Different IYD's (regular, deluxe, etc.)
 

Hey guys! I'm so excited for Stevie's new album, but I have very limited time on the internet (I meant to post this last week), and haven't heard much about the release beyond the date. You guys have helped me out before, so I was hoping you could advise me again on the best version to buy, if there are any deluxe or special editions. Or better yet, I'm a sucker for free (but related) items with purchase.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It seems the only real "special" edition that you can purchase is the Barnes and Noble version that has the extra track "My Heart" on it. If there's a different version on a physical CD that's out there... not sure.

You might like the special edition from iTunes. It is sooo in depth.

I am crabby this morrning, soar throat, tired, and NOT listening to IYD since I am waiting for my Barnes and Noble order - which has been delayed and won't arrive probably till next week.

I was thinking maybe I should have just pre-ordered from Warner Brothers. But I really didn't care about the lithograph boosting up the price. So I went with Barnes and Noble. Neither place mentioned if the cd would arrive around 5/3 or be shipped out on 5/3 (at least I didn't notice), so you figure you are taking your chances with either one.

I guess I just find it annoying that there are these 4 different versions:

1. regular cd
2. WB deluxe
3. B&N w extra track
4. itunes special deluxe


I really like just being able to walk into any given store and buy a cd. Is that too much to ask? Stevie and Dave want to bring back that joy. I loved Stevie's letter. But WB is screwing that up (at least I assume it's their decision, all these differernt versions of IYD).

If they wanted a regular cd and a deluxe package I'd be fine with that. But have them be available in all stores.

I remember when Behind the Mask came out. I went to a local record store and the day it came out. All they had was the special edition that came in a box with a picture and it cost more. They had one copy of it and nothing else. I guess FM and SN were not big sellers for them at that time. I got it and it was cool because I didn't even know a special edition existed. But the point is I didn't have to order it or only go to one store for it. When you don't live in a city you don't always have a big selection of stores nearby.

So anyways, this is so not like "back in the day." Which is a bummer since SN and DS are hoping for that. I don't go to itunes so that special version is not for me. I don't have a Barnes and Noble near me. And now I wait for their order, who knows if it will be delayed again? We've seen things like that happen.

It certainly is raining on this fan's IYD's parade.

Please don't think I'm annoyed at Stevie. I'm just ... annoyed. I'll be heading out in a few minutes and will be in the car driving and then waiting in the car for a while this morning and it sure would be awesome to be listening to IYD. It's rainy and dark out, I feel like crap, and nothing takes your mind off such things as Stevie. In fact, she makes a rainy day delicious!

Sorry for the kill-joy vibe for you guys listening to your cd's and enjoying. I am glad so many people are happy with the new cd. I know I will be too....eventually, lol!

as for now I have SYW, Rumours, and Crystal Visions cd's in the car. Can't find my Mirage!!! And that is one of my favorite springtime albums. But the sound is horrible anyways and doesn't even play loud. But it's such an awesome cd, especially in the spring.

With all these different types/versions of the CD, I think they got it kinda mixed up themselves...

I got mine from pre-order WB (regular version) and the song list on the jewel case is actually what's on the cd - but what's my cd reader shows as a song list has My Heart as song 8 and it has no Cheaper Than Free listed so if I click on Everybody Loves You, I get Soldiers Angel and so on....

Has this happened with anyone else?

I put the B&N deluxe version into my iTunes yesterday and it couldn't read the tracks. I had to type them individually into the system.

I empathize with Ghosty! The same is happening to me...waiting on my Barnes and Noble edition to arrive. I live in the middle of nowhere. There are no record stores at all here. I agree that all stores should carry the regular CD and the special edition!

So, can someone describe the differences with these 4 versions so I know what to order/pick up?

And, no, Ghosty it isn't too much to ask for to walk into any given store and pick up a cd. Unfortunately, everything these days is so involved, complicated, and we have too many choices. Yet, are we any happier? But I digress...

Gracenote Database picked up all of the titles of the Deluxe WB CD when I imported it into my iTunes last night, and all songs correctly.

PLUS, for those incessantly bitching, "Soldier's Angel" has (Featuring Lindsey Buckingham) in the title when importing. So, all the complainers can just go away about Stevie "not giving Lindsey credit!!!!!!" :laugh::laugh::laugh:

2. WB deluxe - Bonus Track: My Heart; Same as B&N
3. B&N w extra track - Bonus Track: My Heart; Same as WB deluxe
4. itunes special deluxe - Features an expanded electronin "booklet" and videos for Secret Love and Cheaper Than Free

Also the WB Fan Edition has a slipcase cover whereas the B&N does not.

Right - but you pay an extra 13 bucks for that poster and slipcase.

My point was that the disc of music is the same disc of music in both editions.

can anyone confirm that the digital booklet indeed contains more than the regular booklet?

Let me confirm that for you. YES, the iTunes Deluxe version has more info/photos than the regular, printed CD booklet.

Thanks so much for understanding. I didn't want to be a downer, but had to get that off my chest. I think what was getting to me is kind of like how Joe mentioned, we have so much of everything these days, yet does it make us any happier? It really just complicates things more or causes frustration. Twice in the past week I had to go back to stores because they screwed up. One scanned and charged an item $14.99 when the tag price was 3.75! And the other was a different store ringing up a pair of pants twice. Too much. I know that's not really the same issue, but it's everything these days has to be so complicated.

I am tempted to get the itunes but my computer with the cd burner is old and so slow and not sure it can handle whatever it is you have to download. And what is annoying is that this is a cd from a woman who she herself does not like all this new technology, but yet the record people seemed to put the best deal on itunes. If they had put the extra liner notes and extra photos in the WB deluxe I would have gone with that. I hope those photos and stuff will eventually get posted online on fan websites so the rest of us can see it all. Us poor smucks not so technically advanced. ;)

I have a lot of stores in town, but not like some bigger areas that have it all, or are at least close to it all. So, between that and being ipod-less (and could care less for one), we people seem to be at a disadvantage. It stinks.

Does the B&N deluxe cd have "My Heart" as track 8, or is it track 14? Their website shows it as track 14.

I went to BN today and they were out. And her album has been doing exceptionally well there. I bet they ran out.

Very true. ^^^^ In Your Dreams was number 1 on their top selling list all day yesterday. Also, I suspect that B&N far underestimated the interest in this album; I went to the largest/busiest one in the Denver area, on Colorado Blvd and they only had ordered two copies.

are you kidding?? Yippee! I'm downloading it when I get home from work!! Wow...love me some Stevie extras!!!

I'll never understand why it's not possible to buy on Itunes from different countries... :distress:
