Miley Cyrus singing Landslide (Video)

I think I was just sick in my mouth slightly. And that was just at the title of the thread

WildHearted 05-01-2011 12:27 PM

She really didn't do that badly, in the scheme of things. It could have been a lot worse honestly haha. Miley sounds much better when she sings songs like this rather than attempting to belt out mindless pop stuff that's out of her range.

TinyDancer 05-01-2011 01:06 PM

It's actually pretty good I have to say. If it brings the song to another generation than I have no problems with it. I like her Stevie-esque top too.

coming from someone that hates miley cyrus...she didnt do that bad IMO...hope it brings stevie to a new audience...thats how great music lives on:nod:

I think this is a perfect song for her, with her growing up and moving on from HM. It's a little rough around the edges and that's not a bad thing. I wouldn't hate a polished version recorded from Miley.

Josh2003 05-01-2011 01:33 PM

I feel like Miley gets a really bad rap just because she was at one point associated with Disney/Hanna Montana/corporately-created child-music crap.

And all of that is true.

But she has a great voice, she seems to be very down-to-earth, and a big fan of Stevie's music. I give her a ton of credit for continuing to pursue a career beyond her Disney days, and doing so by paying homage to those who paved the way for her.

Good for her. Keep it up, Miley.

It isn't even bad, honestly. Just the actual concept of it all. MILEY CYRUS. Singing LANDSLIDE. Oh my god what the hell.

WildHearted 05-01-2011 02:10 PM

Miley gets a lot of flack but I think if she went the folk/country/acoustic route which her voice is obviously suited for, she could be taken a lot more seriously and actually be quite good. It's a shame she's limited creatively by her Disney/HM past and her current record company trying to sell her as a pop-star which she, quite simply, isn't cut out to be.

I do think she has a very mature voice and as far as her Disney acting work goes, the scripts may not have been great, but I think she was a pretty skilled comedian. Good timing, deft reactions and line delivery. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I like the ballet at the beginning.

Ghosty 05-01-2011 04:48 PM

I agree.

Also, I can't really tell what Miley's wearing but it looks Stevie-inspired to me.

So much better than Dixie Chicks! Just nice and a little bit sad, and the guitar accompaniment is right on the nail. I'm impressed!

WildHearted 05-01-2011 06:53 PM

I thought the guitarist kind of flubbed the interlude/solo, but then again I'm comparing him to Lindsey so I guess I set the bar too high lol..

tilthefirefades 05-01-2011 06:55 PM

I absolutely love her, and her music isn't that bad surprisingly. she's also a pretty decent songwriter, and i love that she's admitted to being a sell out and only wants to release rock music. I guess time will tell with her.

I know, me too! Then again, I fell in love with a Doctor who slash video set to Miley Cyrus. I have the scars but it was a cracking good video. So anything's possible!

WildHearted 05-01-2011 07:07 PM

I'd rather it be Miley than Taylor Swift or Glee.

jannieC 05-01-2011 07:18 PM

I thought that was actually lovely- maybe one of the best covers out there. I think she sang it with feeling and she does have a very rich sounding voice. As much as I am sick to death of Landslide, it is obviously going to be Stevie's artistic legacy.

gypsy4life 05-02-2011 01:31 AM

I prefer this to the Dixie Chicks as well, however, the guitarist was lacking a bit.

It is apparent Miley is an admirer of Stevie, and I think it is kind of sweet that she wants to incorporate her music into her own live shows.

I am not a fan of Miley's music, in general, but this could have definitely been worse!

belladonnadream 05-02-2011 03:08 AM

I don't like Miley and don't like her trying to be Stevie in any way... Even though it did sound halfway decnt..I just don't like the concept of it at all..
