nice! i am listening to it now. hmm for what it's worth sounds very country. not sure if i like it yet!
Oh my god. Lady From The Mountain snippet in Moonlight. It's so pretty. Oh my god. Thank you so much for sharing this, it's making the tedium of doing an essay so much better.
hmm in your dreams is interesting as well as wide sargasso sea.
And I'm in class until 1 o'clock! Drat. So, how do they sound? I'm dying.
I'm diggin italian summer
this at least tying me over till some kinda leak, very mellow cd!
moonlight sounds cool as well as annabel lee and i really like everybody loves you so far.
ooh ghosts are gone sounds very rock n roll. i like it!!
Ooh, now THAT snippet of Everybody Loves You is much more enticing than the original snippet we had (and I loved that one too!) Oh, this is making me super-excited for the CD now. Her voice sounds fantastic on all of the snippets so far, too.
I'm really loving "Ghosts are Gone" & "Moonlight" with the lady from the mountain verses... OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! Thanks sooooooooooooo much for posting this! Just wish the snippet of New Orleans had more of the actual singing rather than the instrumentation. Can't really guage this song on what is in the snippet. But LOOOOVE everything I'm hearing!!!! :blob1::blob2::blob1::blob2:

FWIW - sounds kinda folky
IYD - kind of a rock shuffle thing WSS - seems like it starts off slow, then builds to what we heard on the sizzle reel thing; she sings the "even though they were so in love, they drew a line in the sand just because they didn't know each other" part NO - you don't hear much of the vocal, but the music reminds me of Sleeping Angel a little bit Moonlight - the clip is LFTM: "and others say she's not really real...like a candle burns bright, wants to burn faster...but maybe then at least she really feels..." I'm guessing this is the beginning of the song. AL - sounds pretty great SA - I might actually like this; I noticed a recycled Battle of the Dragon lyric: "no one walks away from this battle" ELY - I really like this, from the snippet; more interesting than what Dave Stewart posted GAG - sounds very rock & roll; along the lines of Fall from Grace, perhaps YMBTO - kind of a bluesy little thing IS - nice; not sure what else to say about it, but it sounds good; kinda hard to say much from the clip |
I only allowed myself to listen to two: Moonlight and WSS.
So psyched to hear that Moonlight has Lady from the Mountain ALL OVER IT...well at least in the snippet that we heard. As for WSS...it's...interesting. Based on both, it sounds like they must start very slowly, then build to grand climaxes. |
I'm even more anxious to hear the whole thing now. I didn't hear anything in the clips I had a problem with, which is heartening.
Hmm, there's quite a few I'm apprehensive about on there.
Moonlight Italien Summer Everybody Loves You Annabel Lee These four seem to be the strongest, hard to tell from 30 second snippets to be fair. I did think Soldiers Angel would be a little more promising though ! |
It's not letting me play them on my Mac ...someone HELP !! agghhh
I'm digging For What it Worth and Italian Summer. For What's Worth is 70s classic rock with a country flair. Reminds me of Chevy Van for some reason. In Your Dreams is definitely Tom Petty inspired. Wide Sargasso Sea and Everybody Loves You sound cool. She is not rhyming on this album for rhyme sake. Sounds lyrically deep and produced to the tee.
Well, I'm pleased with these clips. I'm mostly shocked at the title track. It's nothing I thought it would be.
From just the clips, my favorite song by far is Soldiers Angel. Thats straight "good" Rocka Little vocals there and its backed by incredibly haunting guitar.
The rest of the clips just don't tell me much at all about theses songs. The good thing is none of them turn me off, only You May Be The One is on the EH side. After Soldiers Angel Wide Sargasso Sea is probably my favorite. I like the slow side of the song as much as I like the rocking clip from the reel. |
OMG thank you so much.
I'm liking everything here, except for Everybody Loves You. There're a lot of different things on this album, and we even get a blues track, and an electro touch on Everybody loves you...And i thought Stevie couldn't surprise me anymore. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. (WSA is going to be freaking epic). |
This website will let you hear a different snippet of "Soldiers Angel" than the Barnes & Noble site has posted... just translate the page to English, if your browser gives you the option. If not, click on "Meer" under New Orleans & it will expand to show all the songs & you can click the link to listen to SA.
http://www.cosmox.nl/muziek/in-your-...ampaign=Muziek I'm still searching other Euro sites, so if I find anymore different clips, I'll post them here... |

For What Its Worth sounds straight off of Tom Petty's Wildflowers, my favorite TP album. I guess that shouldn't be shocking considering Mike Cambell co-wrote it but still. I'm loving it For What Its Worth (awseome pun)

I don't think the album sounds exactly cohesive stylistically, except for the confessional Bob Dylanesqueness. I mean it goes from Led Zeppelin to Tammy Wynette and George Jones to the Thompson Twins. It's sorta a wild ride that is not soo wild. More of a story album it seems from what I'm hearing. However, I lovvvvvveeee the For What's It's Worth snippet. That song takes me back to a time of classic country rock and just better music in general. |
I'm so tempted to listen to the clips, or the streaming copy over at Rolling Stone...but I think I'll pass and wait for Tuesday.
Love the clips. FWIW is incredible, as is the title track. I think it's safe to say In Your Dreams is not TISL pt.2. Sounds like the record is moving in a completely new refreshing direction for Stevie, a direction quite frankly she should have moved into right after RAL, if someone like Jeff Lynne were producing her in the late 80's. anyway....off to stream the whole album. this is gonna be great:thumbsup:
