Favorite Sassy Stevie Line

The recent quote where Nicks pontificates on the virtues of humbleness and modesty got me thinking---- what are your favorite strong/sassy/confident Stevie lines?

Mine is DEFINITELY "when I want something, I get it," but "I was anyone's fantasy" is a close second

Sleepless-Child 04-23-2011 06:13 PM

"That's the poet that i am", and the whole Bob Dylan thing...
"yes i was beautiful!" (Jimmy Fallon...ok, accident, but i'm sure she meant it, it's subconscious.)

sodascouts 04-23-2011 06:14 PM

Sometimes when she does "Outside the Rain" she changes the lyric to:

"Baby, is there anyone in this whole wide world who could ever replace me? I don't think so." Love it!

CADreaming 04-23-2011 06:25 PM

I thought it was funny when she was talking about wanting to do "Crash" on the Live in Chicago cd and everyone told her a girl couldn't do it and she was like, "Yes, I can.YESICAN!" :D

Silylily 04-23-2011 06:25 PM

"Over my dead body."

~ To Rolling Stone in 1997 when asked of the possibility of her getting back together with Lindsey Buckingham.

CADreaming 04-23-2011 06:28 PM

^HA. Made me think of another one. Mark & Brian interview introducing NGBA for Lindsey, she said: "And this is called Never Going Back Again - you lie!" - Aug. '97

HighPassion 04-23-2011 06:30 PM

"I can turn all your music on. I can make you feel alive." ~Nothing Ever Changes.

So sexy and sassy. I love it.

ryguy2010 04-23-2011 06:36 PM

I don't know how to learn
From the pages of a book Some won't understand unless they heard this live from 1986! She sings it with such tude!

One of the most under-talked about Stevie songs EVER!!! It's totally BA!

Behind the Mask is the only record that Stevie's been on, that I've not heard. How does the rest of the album sound? I've always heard it was horrible. In fact, I forgot it even exsisted...

BTM has always had a strange sound to me. IDK how to describe it, but it is just... weird. But I think Stevie's songs are good! And I like Skies the Limit. Enjoy:

Musicman408 04-23-2011 11:10 PM

The way I feel about Behind the Mask, as well as all of the "lesser known, and appreciated" Stevie materials is that I look at them as just part of what Stevie and Fleetwood Mac whole, so I always find something to love in it. Plus, it was one of the first FM albums I got... I'm thinking- I got it for Easter of 2004, after becoming a fan in summer of 2003. :)

Yes, it's called crappy mixing! If this album could be seriously remixed, Stevie's vocals could soar, and not sound like she's singing underwater with a clothespin on her nose. The mix is a sonic nightmare in my opinion.

Agreed! I was just listening to Freedom today, and I was wishing I could hear her vocals more clearly.
The album has some prime stuff on it, lyrically, but, it is often lost under the music.

One of my favorite sassy Stevie lines: "I don't really need this in my life! Why don't we forget about it."

michelej1 04-23-2011 11:35 PM

I'm kind of partial to when she tells Christine she doesn't hear any background vocals on Sara "because you're not singing any."

I also like when they're rehearsing for The Tusk tour and the sound goes out and she says, "It's not that funny is it?"

Actually, she just says too many things to pick one or twenty. Palm tree hitting Lindsey on the head. Pale shadow of the dragon boy. He was the ayatollah and they were hostages. Rumpled ball of tuskness.

When she said she wouldn't read Mick's book because she'd just have to go through it with a red pen writing "Big Lie" next to things.

Destiny Rules when she says it sounds like John fell off the stage. So much better than saying it sounds like John is absent or that John left. Just the image of him falling off the stage with bass in hand was in my head and I giggled.

She's a riot.

Michele

She seems really bitter in this and I LOVE it!

APerfectLie 04-24-2011 12:24 AM

"Don't call me when you're lonely."

"Poor little fool."

"The closest you've ever come to me was to help me up the stairs." I never see this as her talking about being someone physically close to her, but rather someone being her or as amazing as her and the closest whoever she is talking to has ever been to becoming her was to walk up the same damn staircase with her, but even then they were still catering to her. Does this make sense?

"If you really want to leave me, find another windy day. I won't stop you, fill your sails and drift away!"

"When you hang up that phone, well you cease to exist!"

"Take your leave of me now! Disappear, into the air. I wish you gone and I don't care!"

"It's not enough that you depend on me and it's not enough that you say you love me! It's not enough to just save face, because sometimes you just fall from grace."

johnnystorms 04-24-2011 12:44 AM

Planets

"you will never love again, the way you loved me. you will never rule again the way you ruled me. you will never change again, the way we're chaning..................." the fury in her voice is WAY sasssy!

Totally get you. Sort of like please if only you were me. Reminds me of "She was no competition" from Fireflies.

Ha,

some moron on another board is pissing everyone off saying that Stevie's "Overrated" & the only songs she writes about are about drugs & witchcraft.

He's jealous of something!

Stevie interview with Jim Ladd 1980

"I love to be miserable. I love to walk around in the throes of a passionate miserability. I made that word up years ago. Miserability. I don't like to suffer and I hate pain but I do like to suffer to the point where I want to get to my typewriter and write down all my wonderful and marvelous philosophy fo why I'm suffering. I like that part of it."

WildHearted 04-24-2011 08:57 AM

"My walls are flaming!"

Actually, pretty much all of Smile At You.

tbaker3 04-24-2011 10:53 AM

I've been desperately trying to find it on youtube. But there's this studio chatter clip, where she wants to try recording a certain song, and the studio tech doesn't know whitch one she's talking about and puts the wrong one in a few times. Then when he finally figures it out, Stevie goes, "Thanks, sweetheart," in the "itchiest" way possible. Love it.

SaidSomething 04-24-2011 11:11 AM

love these

Look at me with daggers...it wont do you any good...

If you f*** with my people...Im going to get real f****** angry.

WildHearted 04-24-2011 12:06 PM

Any variation of her Go Your Own Way was rude/I was NOT shaking up remarks haha.

APerfectLie 04-24-2011 05:08 PM
