IYD german release date: April 29th
 

Hi everybody,
I know that the main part is coming from the US. I've been at Saturn, a german multi media store, a couple of hours ago. On their blackboard for new upcoming releases Stevie's album is scheduled for release in Germany on April 29th. I was pretty surprised I have to say because I always thought the release in Germany would be later. After checking back with the assistance he confirmed the release date and said that the album is mostly available one day earlier as the stated date.
I have no clue why this album will be released in Germany few days earlier as in the US. I'm sorry when some of you are upset about this but I'm excited!

Amazon.de states the German release date as being May 6:

Not just Germany..All new releases come out on a Friday in most of Europe.Pretty much everywhere bar United Kingdom.It's to do with the charts..charts published on Thurs see the new stuff on Fri etc.

And yet the Mp3 download page states April 29:

I hope you can download from anywhere in the world because I'm sure as heck going to be trying. :)

8 out of 13 songs will be over 5 minutes long. Epic.

I haven't noticed that yet! That makes me very happy :nod:. I'm dying to hear previews of all of the songs, but I guess it's good we don't have them. That way the album will fully be a surprise. :D

Hearing stories of potential delay for Ireland fans....24th JUNE?!:eek:

Secret Love and Cheaper than Free are the only 2 songs under 4 minutes on the album.Not that I dislike either of them but I'm hoping that may indicate that they are also the 'slightest"

I don't know whether to feel excited or worried about this.

Plus;
-Stevie's longer songs are often very much epic.
-When she's on, her longer songs are brilliant; see Tusk.
-More Stevie to enjoy!

Cons;
-Stevie's longer songs, when not epic, drag on forever.
-When she's off, her longer songs get very very very dull.

I was able to translate the page easily with the google translate button on the tool bar. I was ALSO able to log into my Amazon account- I wonder if this means I will be able to buy the album on April 29th :eek:!!

Has anyone ever done this before?

Thinking even further, Germany is 9 hours ahead of USA West Coast time, so wouldn't that mean I'd be able to technically download it April 28th at 3pm?

My friend recently purchased something on the amazon uk site and had no problems. It even converted the currency for her!

Holy crap! The deluxe version of IYD is going to be close to 70 minutes! :eek: :blob1:, which will make this, by far, the longest Stevie album ever. Thirty-five years ago this would have been a double album, so, in a way, this almost makes up for not releasing any new solo material for ten years. "When it rains it pours..."

I love me some epic Stevie; my favorite songs are all over five minutes- "Trouble in Shangri-la," "Bella Donna," "Edge of Seventeen," "Wild Heart," "The Nightmare," etc. And this album appears to be jam-packed full of epics. Gah! I just cannot wait... this already sounds like the best Stevie album ever.

Since the prices aren't up yet for IYD mp3 I was checking others to get an idea of cost. It seems that the german mp3s average. 98 euros per song, which equals $1.24 in US dollars, which is essentially the same as what US amazon charges per song.
Good news that it shouldn't be more expensive.

Well I can say I will absolutely be illegally downloading the entire FLAC when it hits the net 29th.That's if Ireland is *somehow* being taken to part of England and getting it June.

Well I checked the FAQ page and unfortunately it says that MP3 downloads are georestricted to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I guess they probably filter with the IP address. I'm still going to give it a try but this really blows.

Darn. Oh well. I guess we're meant to have it when we're meant to have it.

They looked it up and told me that it was out here on may 6th and we dont get the DX Version.

So I need some clarification. Should I not upgrade Iyd to the deluxe edition from reprise.. Does that mean I don't get 'My heart'? Would hate to pay that ridiculous amount for 1 song. Will it be offered on I Tunes?

Apparently My Heart is only offered through Barnes & Noble. Nobody is really sure if that's only through ordering online, or if the copies in the store will have My Heart.

Thanks Louie ;) I received an email from Reprise and thought it said if I upgrade I would get My Heart and a Lithograph as well :shrug: But maybe it was the Secret Love vid? I deleted the email so can't recall.

The Barnes and Noble I'm getting mine from (in Scottsdale AZ) Said that they would only be getting a few of the special edition version with the bonus in the store the rest would be the regular versionI ask him to check over and over again Haha just to be sure and then I reserved my copy of the in your dreams version "with bonus"

Wait, what all is on the 70 minute deluxe version that isn't on the regular?
