Lots of promo scheduled for Stevie in May!

This just posted on Nickslive, via Ricky Peterson's twitter (Stevie's keyboardist):

"We’ll be doing promo the month of May. Today Show, Ellen, Dancing With The Stars and lots more! So keep your eyes open for us and a tour this summer."

OMG. Oh please tell me that's a late April Fools joke. :distress:

Stevie's goin on Ellen again? Hopefully she won't sing Stand Back a third time! :p

I don't watch Dancing With The Stars... how could she do a spot on that show without being a contestant?

Dancing with the Stars frequently features musical performances from artists...kind of like American Idol towards the end of the season.

I know Hejira isn't so happy about this, but the DWTS audience is huge!

Plenty of people have performed on that show. I don't think they are actually dancing while they're performing. I know Sheryl Crow was on a couple of seasons ago. Chris Brown was just on. I dunno... I realize it's massive exposure, but it's so soul-crushing too. One must do what one must do, I guess...

Macfanforever 04-12-2011 11:29 PM

Wow .thats great news.To bad the Ice skating season is done.I would like the see her perform on the show.

 Their audience is huge. So it will be good for Mama's record. And I'm curious to see what kind of interpretive dance they do to her songs. Hey if she sings Stand Back and Landslide at least the dancing will provide a new twist.

This is so cool! Thanks for the heads up!

I can totally see Stevie on 'Dancing With The Stars'!

Heart was on it last November promoting their 'Red Velvet Car' CD and performed 'Barracuda'. It was awesome!:)

Christopher 04-12-2011 11:52 PM

Annie Lennox performed on DWTS last fall. Yes, it sorta makes me cringe, but it does seem to be the norm nowadays:( One thing for sure is Stevie is no slouch - she works hard for the money:laugh:

Gypsybecca 04-12-2011 11:54 PM

She could also go on Pawn Stars...she could see how much the cranky old man would give her for a Buckingham Nicks album....and she could flirt with Chumlee. That would be good exposure, right?

Dancing With the Stars? :distress:

If that bitch does Stand Back on Ellen one more time I will put a clog in her coke straw. I swear she better not do Stand Back at any of these shows!

It's funny because in one of the radio interviews Stevie did promoting the tour, she said that Ellen wanted her to perform Stand Back instead of the new single, and her response was "Stand Back, again!?"

louielouie2000 04-13-2011 12:27 AM

I'm actually totally digging the idea of Stevie doing a show such as Dancing... it's utterly out of the norm for her! She normally does her little late night and daytime circuit for promos, and that's about it. Good for her (and her publicity people) for mixing it up! Hopefully there will be more random surprises like this to come!

I love Stevie Nicks fan humor.

Artemis 04-13-2011 01:31 AM

We hear about DWTS in tabloids in the UK, so it's gotta be a pretty big deal if she's singing on that show; it'll at least give her a whole load of exposure.

daniellaaarisen 04-13-2011 01:35 AM

Let's face it-- when you release a new album at 63 and are most liked by 40+ year olds, any promotion is good promotion. She knows that.

That being said, she's booking some surprisingly good opportunities for herself considering her age and the demographic to which she best caters.

StandbackStevie 04-13-2011 04:09 AM

yes we will be getting a summer and fall tour of course and hopefully she will be back in CT if I can't get the webster hall ticket then will wait for her stop in CT.

Musicman408 04-13-2011 05:17 AM

Looking forward to seeing this come to fruition! :)

TwistedGypsy 04-13-2011 05:35 AM

There is nothing wrong with her being on DWTS. It's one of the biggest shows out there and has a huge audience. Get over it people. So what if it doesn't seem "cool" to some people just sit back and enjoy. This could really vamp of the latter part of her career. Mama got to make that money! And I think this album his her baby and she wants it out there to share with everyone. Good for her and I'm so happy for getting all this stuff.
BTW, some major people have been on DWTS singing. Heart was on there last season and Jennifer Hudson was on there last night.

fringed n fab 04-13-2011 07:34 AM

I've caught bits and pieces of this seasons DWTS but haven't kept up with it this year like I have the past 2 or 3 but I think it's good she's going to be performing on there and it'll be nice to see what they do to some of her songs. I personally never understood why they have the dancers dance to that horrendous house band and their singing, their voices suck to peoples songs, why can't they just dance to artists music from an album instead of that ****ty band singing along? Anyway, I'll definitely watch the night Stevie is on there.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit all the lil kids in my life at least know who stevie is............i take my bow for that! they may not adore her like i do, but i be damned if they dont' know anything but lil wayne!!!

Agreed. Get those summer dates posted! I'm hoping for the benefit of others that she makes it on her solo leg to cities that she didn't go to on the Heart and Soul Tour, but I'm also selfishly hoping that she makes it up to Toronto again. They played at the ACC on April 2nd, but I defiantly didn't go because a) couldn't handle her with Rusty Rod and b) I was holding out for a solo date. I'd like to see her playing some outdoor venues again. She played the Molson Ampitheatre in September 2001 and it was like paradise!

And "as far as these hokey shows go," you're right - they are SUPER exposure - especially if she appears in prime time! JUST AS LONG as she plays some new material. Everyone knows she's the gorgeous sandpaper throat behind Landslide and Stand Back - can she effing let the world know that she's been up to something else these days, please?!?

mikebise 04-13-2011 09:57 AM

You already heard that Heart, PROMOTING THEIR NEW ALBUM (!), sang "Barracuda" on Dancing With The Stars last year.

How do you know the producers wouldn't rather have a universally known HIT, rather than new material?

And, hey, Oprah even had Stevie perform "Secret Love" for her web~site, as well as "Landslide" for broadcast.

Preach it sista  ITA
My neice was obsessed with The Dance dvd when she was three, funniest thing she watched the whole thing with me and asked to watch it again all the time. When she was four I took her to see Stevie on the Enchanted Tour. I wasnt sure about taking her because she was so little but it was an outdoor venue and my sister was going so I figured we could walk around if she got bored. She paid attention to Stevie the whole time even putting her winnie the pooh blanket over her head and swaying to the music :D Some people sitting behind us bought her a snickers ice cream bar and said they wanted to bring their daughter cause she also liked the music but they didnt think she would sit still. My neice is 16 now and she has a very eclectic taste in music. So yeah Stevie/Mac music is timeless and I am all for getting more exposure as long as it is done tastefully.

I can't stand to watch the men of Pawn Stars. They lowball and take advantage of people and I don't see how any viewer could look up to them and how that son/owner snickers and plays on disadvantaged customers. He disgusts me. It's one thing to be fair to someone, it's another to take advantage of them knowing they're down and out. :distress:

Annie Lennox sang 2 songs on DWTS last November. Her classic hit "Little Bird" and a new song from her x-mas cd "Universal Child". I anticipate Stevie will follow suit - a classic song and new song.

Very true - and you're right. Producers are going to go with an established hit. But we all remember Stevie performing Fall From Grace with Crow at the Blockbuster Awards in 2001, if memory serves, before the album was even released. And it was epic. I'd like to see her deliver a new rocker to get everyone pumped is all, which is exactly what happened at the above mentioned awards show. I see your point, though.

And I totally get yours. And agree with you. I'm sure Stevie is excited about her NEW songs, as we all are.

But we learned that ELLEN is the one who requested "Stand Back" in January, which surprised Stevie. And, honestly, Ellen made me cringe in 2007 when she asked Stevie, "We all wanna know: is Fleetwood Mac ever getting back together???" I swear, Stevie was cringing inside too, fighting the urge to roll her eyes. Ellen was acting like Fleetwood Mac had been "missing" since 1997 (or before!), not 2004!

And like they were broke up or something. If Ellen were a real fan, she'd know the breaks and stuff, and 2004~2007 was no huge break at all for this band.

I certainly hope Stevie performs new songs on the shows! But DWTS wouldn't shock me if "Landslide" or "Stand Back" is done, based on Heart's appearance.

Yeah, I don't think it's jumping the shark at all. Even thought I personally think the show is cheesy. Annie, Heart, Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow. Big name talent for sure.

And come on guys, it's not like she's playing for Ghadaffi.

Chum is so gross.

Pawn Stars: approx 5 million viewers each week
DWTS: 18 million

I wouldn't say I look up to them. But it's a PAWN SHOP - that's what they do. It would be different if they didn't give people the actual value of the item. I mean, most of the time they call in appraisers. The seller knows what it's worth - he/she could always grab the item, leave & sell it online themselves for more money - nobody's forcing them at gunpoint to sell it in the shop. But they're too lazy or just don't want to bother. So more power to the pawn guys.

You're the guy that likes American Pickers, right? See, I have a way harder time with them because most of those people have NO CLUE what their stuff is worth, or how much Frank & Mike will resell it for. Talk about taking advantage. I often wonder how many people are pissed when the show airs & they realize Mike got $1500 for the advertising piece they sold to him for $250.

Just sayin. I mean, I watch & love both shows. :p

Back on topic - I just hope they don't make her sing outside on the Today show. If they do, it had better be nice & warm out there. I think we all remember the SYW April '03 incident when they all sounded crappy? :(

DestinyRules 04-13-2011 11:57 AM

I agree with the sentiment of folks who are all for Stevie appearing on DWTS. The more exposure Stevie gets and this new record gets, the better off she will be.

Even if this album doesn't sell millions of copies and put Stevie back on the Hot 100 or the Billboard 200 or whatever, success for this record will not be about album sales. It will be about Stevie putting out a record that she's incredibly proud of, that many of us who have followed her every step of the way since 1978 or 2008 or anywhere in between will be proud of, and Stevie gaining new fans based on this new material or based on their hearing this material and being intrigued enough to go listen to "Dreams" or "Landslide" or "Rhiannon" or "Stand Back" or "Edge of Seventeen."

I also know younger folks who are BIG into Stevie. Like one of my close friends who is young enough to be my son who loves the music like I do. I also have friends in their late teens to early 20s who are also huge fans of hers and probably quote the lesser-known songs even more than the hits.

I've heard that A LOT of the kids nowadays are dying to hear *great* new music, at least based on some of the reactions to "Secret Love." In Your Dreams will be a success if it can bring those kids the great music they crave, whether it's a hit according to Soundscan or not.

From the recent interview w/Lindsey stating he no longer has a record contract for his new solo record *and more interestingly either does Fleetwood Mac!! We should all be happy that Mama has a big record company behind her this outing, It could very possibly be her last. I find it all kinds of fascinating that Stevie still has a contract w. Warners/Reprise when FM does not:shrug:

Livia 04-13-2011 01:36 PM

Well, bust my buttons! I watched Glee for the first time when they did Landslide, and this will be the first time I watch DWTS. Please tell me there won't be any interpretive dancing during the performance.
