Leather and Lace Tonight

Just got word from Philly, apparently Leather and Lace replaced Passion tonight

mezzoforte 04-05-2011 08:47 PM

Huh--so Stevie caved, then! I honestly think it's for the best. On the other hand, if he didn't reign in his performance for that one, it could have been a disaster.

Anyway, I'm definitely curious! Hoping it ends up on youtube soon...

WildHearted 04-05-2011 08:47 PM

Whoa, wonder how that sounds!

CADreaming 04-05-2011 08:48 PM

Haha! Rod wore her down!

SapphireSister 04-05-2011 08:51 PM

You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!

FM77 04-05-2011 08:53 PM

I think its a grand idea...I did not care for Passion.

Either that or she finally read all of the reviews that were confused as to why they were singing those random songs in place of Stevie's actual duets, and came to her senses.

APerfectLie 04-05-2011 08:54 PM

I hope somebody got video!! :blob2:

Yep, I'm with ya on that one. I was just thinking that same thing!!!

Look what someone posted on twitter:

MJGrids: Rod Stewart forgot the lyrics to Leather and Lace when he performed with Stevie Nicks.

MacMan 04-05-2011 09:03 PM

Oh cool... Can't imagine him on it, so I'd like to hear it!

Agree. Passion was just ok. And Rod was right, it wasn't a huge hit, it flew under the radar. not to mention, it drones on in concert.

Macfanforever 04-05-2011 09:19 PM

I hope it gets taped[videoed}.

Leather & Lace - duet with Rod (4-5-2011)

A couple of people just posted these over at YouTube, and I thought I would share it here so everyone could see it. Thankfully, the sound quality on both is really good! You can see more on the first one, but the second has really excellent sound (but you will hear some audience sing-a-long):

Stevie sounds fantastic and it's so great to hear her voice today on this song, but Rod's lyric mess-ups just make me wish I was there to sing the duet with her instead! LOL! I have to wonder if he was saying to himself.. "oh dear God.. I had to beg her to sing this with me, and now I'm screwing it up!" And maybe she's saying to herself, "See, Rod? THIS is why I rehearse over and over and over..." :p

louielouie2000 04-06-2011 01:33 AM

Oh wow... Stevie sounded so amazing! I was unable to stop grinning the entire time! :D

So it's official... Stevie is no longer allowed to perform unless either Rod Stewart, Tom Petty, or Don Henley is onstage with her :p. They just seem to bring out the absolute best vocally in her!

APerfectLie 04-06-2011 01:34 AM

Lmao Rod looks nervous as hell! But Stevie sounds great!

Haha.. me too, Louie! I wasn't sure how she would sound on this one with her voice as it is today, but I love it! It helps they changed the key to lower the pitch (probably for the sake of both of their voices)... but she really sounds fantastic, and I agree that performing with these partners does seem to bring something out of her that's not always there on her regular set-list.

Phoenix 04-06-2011 01:48 AM

She sounds great. I love this song it will always be 1 of my favorites. Living in phoenix I've gotten the pleasure of hearing it at the heart benefits. I'm glad she is doing it it is good to hear sing it now. Beautiful. Atta:thumbsup:. Girl Stevie

Yeah, I hit the "play" button with great trepidation for the same reason... I just didn't know if she was still able to pull of this song off vocally. But she did... just beautifully. This has truly made my night, thank you so much for sharing these vids!

APerfectLie 04-06-2011 02:05 AM

This is how it was in Santa Barbara. Louie, it was a religious experience. I've been telling you for months!

But seriously, I've played this video on repeat since you posted the link, John. THIS is why I love this woman. It's all captured in this video. I teared up the first time watching it, just remembering how much I love this song and loved that moment last summer.

Gahhh! I'm stuck at work and can't view You Tube here! It's blocked. I now have to wait until I get home this evening to see these!

Dreams22 04-06-2011 06:22 AM

I love it! I'm also kicking myself for skipping the Philly date now lol.

Fiver 04-06-2011 06:23 AM

WOW! That Love Is is spectacular, you guys weren't kidding!

I enjoyed Stevie on L&L. Poor Rod sounded lost.

Artemis 04-06-2011 06:34 AM

Wow, this has made my day. She sounds fantastic, and she looks ridiculously tiny when Rod Stweart is stood next to her, I had a giggle fit at that.

Jondalar 04-06-2011 06:54 AM

The crowd knew the song and sang along. It seemed like the song they all wanted to hear.

This was never one of my favorite songs but she sounds fantastic. Way to go, Stevie!

ragrsrocalot 04-06-2011 07:47 AM

^^^ Love Is , is fan flippin' tastic. Wow. :D

Musicman408 04-06-2011 07:47 AM

Stevie sounds amazing on both songs. I hope Love Is stays in the set list for this summer, since it's been one of my faves FOREVER!!

Rod however sounds like he's struggling to get through a kareokee performance of the song.... How the flip do you spell that word anyway- it's not coming to me at 7 in the morning!! :)

ragrsrocalot 04-06-2011 08:28 AM

Found footage of Young Turks, which was performed before L&L, and while I was watching it I thought, wow, Stevie doesn't seem that happy, Rod made several attempts to sing to her, or to make eye contact, and she just avoided him. Well if you watch the video, or if you just want to see how pissed she is go to 4:36. She won't even LOOK at Rod. He talks about how they only rehearsed that afternoon. No wonder he looked like he did in the L&L video. Oh well. Don't think that song will be in the set much longer.

kak125 04-06-2011 08:37 AM

Wow this version of 'Love Is' is freaking fantastic!! I hope she keeps it in her set this summer and that she comes to Pittsburgh. I need to hear this song sung live in front of me. Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!

just a note what is up with the ending? it sounds all messed up!!

I don't blame her for being annoyed with him. He made no bones about the fact that he's been wanting to do "Leather and Lace" with her, a song that she seems to really only prefer doing with Don Henley. And to top it off, he chooses not to rehearse, thus coming off as a terribly half-assed performance.

Agreed.Well, Stevie sounded great, and the crowd seemed to dig it, but yes, totally out of her comfort zone to just wing a song as classic as that.

Spoinny 04-06-2011 09:09 AM

oh boy Rod looks nervous @ the end of Young Turks! She musta gave him a lashing at rehearsal! I believe he is reading a teleprompter during Leather, so that may be why he looks so pensive? B/T/W, Stevie sounds great in this performance!!

Hardly would call his performance half ass. It's not like you can do much with the song besides sing it faithfully and well, which he did, for the most part.
