Stevie confirmed on Oprah
Courtesy of Nicksblog as usual!!http://nickslive.blogspot.com/2011/0...appear-on.html
STEVIE NICKS CONFIRMED TO APPEAR ON OPRAH What a Great Way To Start a Saturday! The Oprah Show in it's Farewell Season will be taping a show on April 8th in Chicago which will include a "special appearance" by Stevie Nicks. Sheri Salata Executive Producer for The Oprah Show absolutely confirmed via her Twitter account this morning that Stevie would be making a "special appearance" and that the show is scheduled to air on April 13th. HOW AMAZING IS THIS! Perfect timing for the taping as the day after on April 9th Stevie is to hit the stage with Rod Stewart at The United Center. Over the course of the last week or so, various sites and Twitter posts from fans contacted by the Oprah show confirming their invite to the show in April pretty confirmed Stevie would be there... but until you get the final confirmation, you never really know. Facebook and Twitter no doubt played a BIG part in making this happen - all started by RealSteveGains on Twitter in his relentless pursuit to get Stevie on during the farewell season - also helped along by the Facebook community: Get Stevie Nicks on Oprah: The Farewell Season WELL DONE STEVE and THE FACEBOOK COMMUNITY! Back on March 19th Sheri Salata posted on Twitter that RealSteveGains pleas have not gone unheard, and that good news was to come on this she hoped... On March 22nd news surfaced that The Oprah Show was looking for Stevie's ultimate fans and put the question out there "Are You Stevie's # 1 Fan" via her website. I can only imagine the number of essay's received in response to Oprahs call. Matt Denison a Canadian fan from the Ottawa area of Ontario was contacted by The Oprah Show wanting to hear more about his story after he submitted his desire to be on the show... CBC in Canada, the national broadcaster also contacted Matt after his story was given to the CBC. They featured his story on radio and in print "Oprah staff contact Ottawa Stevie Nicks Megafan" Matt also started a Facebook Page: Get Matt on the Oprah Show STEVIE NICKS ON OPRAH! The show format for this taping and how it's going to be presented isn't entirely known... There's speculation that Salt N Pepa and Sister Sledge will also be appearing. Pat Benatar confirmed via her Facebook Page that she was headed to Chicago to appear on the show (no other specifics given)... It's obviously a Women in Music focus... We'll have to wait and see. Exciting times and perfect timing for promoting Stevie's new album "In Your Dreams" on shelves May 3rd... Maybe they could hold off the airing of the show for a date closer to the release date to keep it fresh in peoples minds... In any case, it's great to see this finally happen for Steve, Matt and for all the fans of Stevie Nicks that submitted their essays and were accepted. Oprah's studio audience is not large so you are truly lucky if you were chosen to attend Stevie's first appearance on Oprah! |
Guess I didnt get picked to be on it!
|
I'm so happy, but bummed I didn't get the call to go on the show.
|
Still Dreaming BIG that I can get to be in the audience for the taping of this show! Oh, that would be sooo incredible!
|
Thanks for the heads up.

Thank You God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know a few months ago me and others were passing opinions back and forth about who would be best for Stevie to appear on and possibly interviewed and Oprah came up and I was all EH, about it, but I must admit that this here is a BIG DEAL now that it's happening and I'm so excited that in Oprah's final year on her show, that STEVIE FRIGGIN NICKS is gonna be on there!!!! :] :blob2:

I am very excited to hear that Stevie will be on Oprah, howeverIn the back of my mind I was hoping beyond belief that I'd get picked... I guess until it airs and I don't hear from them, I'll know for sure I won't be meeting Stevie on Oprah, but I guess there is still a little bit of hope.
I don't know- today just hasn't been a good day.....so this is a little disappointing in a way.... sorry.... |

But I suppose it's really the only way to feature older women in music, all at once like a petting zoo. |
GO Matt!
Yep, Stevie along with Pat Benatar, Sister Sledge & Salt -N- Pepa! I wonder if SNP will teach Stevie how to 'Push It'?:lol::eek: |

Who knows...maybe they'll do a montage of some of the entries they received and it won't just focus on the one megafan they chose!??! How cool would that be. Regardless...I'm so proud of Stevie for getting on Oprah! I'm sure it will be an amazing show!!! :D |

Ppl of all ages love the Oprah show, I think it's great for Stevie. If there's older ppl that have forgotten about Stevie then they definitely need to be reminded. :)

Agreed. Not sure why one might feel anyone who watches Oprah is old, a mother and on Protac. Might someone watching Oprah be young, a father, and not on medication at all? Perhaps disabled, perhaps a soldier in Walter Reed, perhaps suffering from some disability and Stevie helped pull them out of despair. Could there be a gay man, suffering with AIDS, encouraged by Stevie's lyrics of "Touched By An Angel" that watches Oprah? The scenarios are endless--as are the fans of Stevie. Stevie's been in Fleetwood Mac since @ 1975. Let's say your Momma was a fan then, and sang Stevie songs to you as an infant, you'd be at least 35 years old by now. Your momma would be close to 60. I don't know that there is a certain defined age for who is a Stevie fan. I'm also not sure why some folks are disappointed that Stevie is getting some PR on Oprah. I'm confused why there is despair at not being chosen as Stevie's #1 fan, either. Does anyone believe they really are her sole #1 fan? Does getting on Oprah make it so? Will there be some sort of ceremony, like a crown presentation, ribbons or an annointing ceremony? Just what are the attributes of the #1 fan? Do you have them? Perhaps you can post here why you feel you should have been chosen over the person (people) that was (were) picked. How was your submission? Could it be based on how well you communicated in your on line application? Does spelling and grammar count? Who read your application? Was there a bias? What were they looking for? In the end, I think it's great Stevie is getting some PR for Oprah. It's about Stevie, isn't it? Or is it about YOU, the number one fan and your recognition for all that you have done. |
It is great Stevie is on Oprah it would be nice if it were just Stevie and Pat and now you throw in Salt N Pepa and Sister Sledge together not a good combination unless its a half hour with Stevie and Pat and then they bring out Salt n pepa and Sister Sledge wonder if they are performing or its a sit down interview or both so maybe each sings one song and sits down with her interesting unless its an hour of Pat and Stevie and another show is Salt n pepa and Sister Sledge.

Good for Matt Denison. Good for Stevie Nicks. I'm not sure what the theme of the show will be, but one thing is certain, is that it will showcase the affect that Stevie Nicks has had on peoples' lives. I would think that making the world a better place by helping people through troubled times and making them happy, is more important than how many album sales one makes. What an honor for Stevie to be a part of this. I can't think of anything else that could be more inspirational to keep her doing what she does.

Is she actually going to be in the studio? "Special appearance" sounds like a video feed to me.

I think it's great, any exposure for IYD is good exposure. Oprah is the most respectable and well known talk show there is. Probably the most watched also. I think it's great Stevie made it on the show this year, it's Oprah's swan song year, so hopefully lots of people will be watching !! :blob1:

It'll be interesting to see how this goes. If Oprah doesn't know Stevie's music (I'd be surprised if she did!) the segment could be a mess. A few years ago Oprah had Billy Joel on and since she didn't know his music it was a disasterous interview, very boring and both Billy and Oprah seemed very uncomfortable. Sort of like in '94 when Stevie was on Jay Leno, that appearence was a mess because Jay didn't know anything about Stevie.

Hold it guys :) I have not been told that I am on the show ... yet although if she has finally been confirmed then maybe they will call Monday. My friends were saying that with Oprah's power and money I am sure theycan fly any guest in North America out to the show at the last minute.
If I am not picked it wouldn't be the end of the world but I would be a bit disapointed. I don't know anyone else who got this much press over an email from the Oprah show. My sister was very kind to start the Get Matt on The Oprah Show. campaign on Facebook with the hopes that we would reach 1000 members who would click Like. She knew that it would be a dream of mine to meet my idol so if it were to happen I would be enternally greatful but if not I will live to see another day and still support Stevie and whatever she does. People need to dress like Stevie, make their presence known

It is hard to know what they are looking for. I don' t dress like Stevie or have Stevie tatoos etc. I just have merchandise (lots) and my passion for her music and willingness to share her music with the world. I think I am a pretty big fan but as I said the producers may be looking for someone special with a real tear jerker or outrageous story that will work for the show
I know I have had allot of drama in my life with seizures, bullying, stuttering , learning disabilities and a serious brain surgery when I was a kid but comapred to what some people have gone through or are going through mine doesn't feel that important in the grand scheme of things. If Stevie is just making an appearance then maybe it will the old trick where they surprise an audience member who thinks they are there just to be in the audience and then you get "Where is so and so?" and then they tell your story etc etc. Matt |
So glad you are a "normal" Stevie fan. I don't dress up or have tattoos either and when I thought about filling out the form I was thinking I'm not a big enough "fan". But from how you described yourself, I would be honored for you to be on there to represent us other fans! Unless you get on there and totally FREAK out and make an ass out of yourself and embarass the whole Stevie nation!!!! But you wouldn't do that right?;)
Good Luck!!!!! Can't wait for the show!:blob1: |
Well this what I have been thinking.
I have met Mick Fleetwood and Melissa Etheridge in brief backstage meet and greets and both times I was calm cool and collected. I shook their hands and talked about fav songs and asked some questions. I was worried when I met Melissa that I might get emotional or cry or make an ass out of myself because at the time it felt like a big deal because she normally doesn't do allot of meet and greets (Not including the travel packages she offers for select shows on her tours that include a meet and greet). She came out and because it was me and my twin brother whom she has seen at the front of the stage at many shows she said "Hey I know you guys now which one is older?" (I am by 1 minute LOL) It felt very casual and relaxed and I was so calm and cool and not once did I cry or stutter or talk too fast. As for Stevie and Oprah I don't think I would cry and make an ass out of myself but I also wonder what Oprah and her staff would think if I wasn't balling like a baby or getting all emotional. I don't know how one should compose themself when meeting their idol on Oprah. I have thought about what I would say and I think I would probably just tell her how honoured I am to be here and that I am happy that you have new music to share with the world and I would try and think of a question or two that would be of interest to us die hard fans and not the same old same old that always comes up when she does interviews. I think because she has now been confirmed those of us who were contacted by the show should hopefully hear back from them. All along I have been telling myself that the producers would not contact us if they were not serious so who knows. If nothing comes of it then at least I can say for a brief while I was one of the big news stories in Ottawa. Matt |

I'm also guessing I'll be asleep several minutes before Stevie sings 'Landslide' or some other safe snoozer. :) - Jake |
I hope Stevie's segment on Oprah is something that makes us proud. I am not an Oprah viewer and I don't know what to expect. Viewership on Oprah has been between 3 and 6 million the last few years. This may will be the largest TV audience that Stevie has been in front of in quite some time. Hopefully Oprah gives IYD a listen and it is part of Stevie's segment.
