Rod & Stevie - "Passion" & "Young Turks"
Many thanks to whoever uploaded this at YouTube, but thought everyone here might like to check it out too (if you haven't already ;) ):
Stevie looks incredible here! Seems like she's have a lot of fun with these two songs as well... |
I cannot get over how good she looks! This woman is 62?! Holy f*ck!
|
love it!!! thank you for posting this!
|
Awesome!
When not twirling with Vampires, its good to see Stevie rocking it out with style. Two things I love about her! |
God, it looks like they're having so much fun up there!
Also, from this angle, you can really see Stevie's roots...which I've noticed, and I've also noticed in other pictures, are quite dark...I figured that she'd be going pretty grey at her age! |
Awesome! Thanks for posting :blob1:
|
that alone is going to be worth the price of admission!
|
I do not approve of "Rod's"onstage spontaneity, freedom, and glossy showmanship. I certainly hope his joie de vivre does not rub off.
|
Rod Stewart looks like somebodys embarrassing Dad at a wedding, but Stevie still looks like a classy rock star!! LOVE it!
|
These performances were fun to watch. I'll be looking forward to seeing this tonight at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut!
|
I'm just glad they didn't go "Stand Back" as a duet! Anyone else remember Rod's cover version??
|
love, love it~ rod called stevie 'delicious'~ thanks whoever filmed this & whoever posted~
|
One word for Stevie BOOTYLICIOUS!!! Stevie should use a wireless mic. It would look even better.
|
Very cool! So good to see Stevie dueting with Rod and having fun with it. She looks great and I love the bow on the back of her jacket. Thank you so much for posting this video, I really enjoyed watching it. :xoxo:
|
Thanks for the vid. So Stevie brought out the boots just for the duets for Atlanta? But wore them for whole MSG show?
|
Great quality video and a fantastic angle. She does look really good here and seems like she is having fun. Good for her, especially since she is making a lot of money doing it. :) Stevie is a little out of her element, but she's never been a "performer". Thanks for posting Jeff. |

Stevie's definitely a lot classier than Rod, who puts on a cheesy lounge act.
I kinda wish Stevie hadn't done this month-long series of shows with him. His style of presentation is so different from hers, & they really have no history in common to speak of--nothing that really links them in any important way in terms of their respective artistry. But to see Stevie up there--great as she looks--taking part in such a Vegas-y cheesefest is a bummer. She's -- not the Queen of Rock & Roll but the Queen of Confessional Songwriters, & she has always demanded to be taken seriously on that front. That's how she has always presented her stage show, too. But Rod Stewart is just being Disco Duck, smirking & mugging at the crowd, ignoring his band -- who disappear into the white background. It's all decor & disco beat. That's not the Stevie Nicks I respect. Why on earth did she want to do this? She has no personal or spiritual connection to him. The Tom Petty dates she did five years ago made a lot more sense & were a lot more meaningful: she & Tom are rock history together, they're good friends, & they're both rock concert traditionalists at this late stage in both their careers. They may play Vegas, but they didn't go Vegas, like Rod. Not to slam Rod, but he just wants everyone to dance. He doesn't care whether you're listening carefully to the lyrics of his sensuous poetry, confessional soul-searching, & cautionary tales of love trying to survive. |
The 4:00 minute mark in Passion is priceless. Stevie is trying to get into it. This song would rock if she did it on her own, her way.
|
OMG Stevie is shorter than Rod

Am I the only one who thinks this would be a gazillion times better had they done Reason To Believe and The First Cut is the Deepest?! Stevie looks and sounds amazing, but these songs are just meh to me.

Still, there's something so cute about Stevie singing "Hong Kong, Tokyo" and "half past midnight."
|
DAYUM! Stevie looks amazing!!
Rod looks like a rooster..lol! But, overall they seemed to have fun. I SO wanted to hear Stevie say "10 pound baby boy"..I don't know why..I just did..lol!! |
God, this makes me soooo glad I haven't bought tickets for the Bay Area show. I was weaned on Rod Stewart, but the good Rod. The Faces Rod. The rocker Rod. These two songs are absolute trash, and yes, he is absolutely a lounge act. Stevie is fine, but there is nothing she could do to make this any better. It makes me sad to see someone like Rod Stewart absolutely sell out, for so long, and just keep cashing in on terrible, awful, lifeless, spiritless schlock. And sorry that Stevie had to be there. But thanks for posting the video. And sorry for being so negative, but for me that was just a huge huge disappointment.

My god, I also agree with David & Pattyfan. Rod looks ridiculous. I was also a fan of his early 70's music, but this was just painful to watch.
Stevie does look beautiful & is gamely doing her best. She is a pro. I just watched Love Is from Atlanta, and it brought tears to my eyes. I've always loved that song and I love this performance. her vocal is strong yet tender and it proves she is not just going through the motions. |
According to what I have read, Stewart does not appear during Stevie's set to perform one of her songs despite his recent sales pitch that the plan was exactly that. Stevie commented that Rod doesn't like rehearse, and I'm wondering what the story is.
My gut is telling me he is an unprofessional, entitled turd who was only decent during the '70s. The avalanche of turds he's flushed down the public's throat for last 25 years should be cause for legal action and the forced return of his R&R Hall of Fame award. Despite the smile, I can read between Stevie' s lines. If he continues to act like a clown, she's going to grab something really sharp - probably Sharon, since she's right there - and stab him several times, right in the face. |

Everyone, of course, has the right to his own opinion, and I'm not talking to anyone in particular, but Rod's been getting a lot of criticism around these parts and I wanted to throw out some support.
I didn't go to msg for his set, but I ended up really loving it. Yeah, he's cheesy, but he's a great entertainer with incredible energy. And more importantly, he looks like he's having a ball up there. I think it's wonderful that Stevie is still devoted to her art and creating wonderful material. But if Rod just wants to give people a great night (and he does--the crowd was loving it), why hold that against him? The man is nearly seventy--I think he's earned the right to have fun and make people dance and not take himself at all seriously. That said, I think the duets bring out the worst in both of them. He looks even cheesier, she looks brittle. |
i am watching this now and really loving it. stevie just seems much more into it when she is performing with somebody else. i dont even like rod stewart but these couple of songs that they do are pretty good. i dont think he looks cheesy at all. i like to see people moving around on stage and having a good time. his stage looks fantastic!!

she doesn't let go of the mic stand because she's afraid to fall. Look at how she moves in the heels, kind of like an old lady in a walker (who can blame her, she IS 62 after all). As far as why she's touring w/Rod? Let's face it, money is probably the biggest factor. I am sure these shows are selling out (or close to) everywhere they go and they are raking in the big bucks!
