I was crossing my fingers MSG might break the trend of the stage set up and we'd hear the walk is back tonight...but sadly, I think Rod is taking away our Edge of 17 tradition this tour ...I'm still not completely giving up hope yet...it sure will be weird watching Edge of 17 from my seat and not from the stage!!! Guess I'll have to wait until The Borgata on May 6th for my next "Walk" opportunity! (Please no one tell me the stage is set up so she can't do the walk there either when she is solo...I will cry...haha) |
|
Hey Viv, what if Brett/Baboles shows up?:D

Hello Ledgies! I have just returned home from the fabulous concert. Stevie was on fire tonight! None of the performances were phoned in. She genuinley looked like she was enjoying herself from start to finish. She was in constant motion. She was a woman who tried real hard to make her audience enjoy every song.
Before she sang Dreams she told us it was a song she had been performing since joining FM in 1975 and that if we didn't know it, then it would be a new song for us. It was adorable when she screwed up the words in the beginning of Dreams. I could see Waddy and Al laughing at her for that. She also made some funny faces where one could tell she was amazed at her own screwup and after the song was over she said that because she told us it might be a new song to some of us, she tricked herself into thinking it was new and therefore she messed up the words. So cute. Upon introducing Sorceror she told us it was one of her Lady From The Mountain Songs that was written around the time her and Lindsey moved from S.F. to L.A. It was also the first time I enjoyed hearing it live. She was so into it. Her vocals were perfect through this and every song. During Secret Love I concentrated on the video on the screen and when the song was over she said something like, "there, now you've seen it" and smiled brightly. Before the show had started I met a Ledgie named London who recognized me from the photo I posted and we had a very nice conversation. In front of the boxoffice I recognized Macfanforever from a pic of himself he posted two years ago and he and I had an enjoyable conversation. The absolute highlight for me was when a distinguished looking gentleman approached me during the break between Stevie and Rod's shows and introduced himself as Nikolaij. God had answered my request and I finally got to meet him in person. He told me to follow him to the merchandise booth so he could buy me that t-shirt which he said he would do if he ever saw me at the show. You know a lot of people say they're gonna do something and never do it, but he did. He suggested he should buy me the red hoodie and I was so touched. He spent $60.00 on me!!! Then he went out for a smoke and asked me to wait in front of a certain consession stand for him, which I did, for two songs, and then I had to get back inside because I didn't want to miss Stevie's duets with Rod. I just wanted you to know Kol, that I did wait for you but you didn't come back. And I appreciate very much the hoodie you bought for me. I wore it outside while waiting for valet to return with my car and it kept me warm, from the cold wind of it all. Besides seeing the Queen of rock and roll and being with some good friends, meeting you Kol was my great experience of the evening. One of my guests took some nice pics which I will post as soon as they are e-mailed to me. If I remember more, I will post it later. Much Love, Viv |
I, too, was at the Mohegan Sun show ... kind of nice to come full circle ... back in April of 2008 ... I flew in from the midwest for a long New England weekend -- and saw her perform solo then ... and shortly thereafter, moved out to Connecticut. Tonight, saw her again, and in 2 weeks ... moving to New York City. Go me.
Anyway, decided at the last minute to go to the show, pulling into Mohegan around 7:05 ... and going straight to the box office and managed to snag a pretty good seat, if I do say so myself. Stevie came out and looked and sounded great - but again, I'm just tired of the set list. I've been there, done this already. I understand the standards must be played, but there is so much other solo material to work with ... it's time for "Fall From Grace" and "Sorcerer" to go ... but that's neither here, nor there. "Gold Dust Woman" and "Stand Back" were in very fine shape ... "Edge of Seventeen" was up there, too ... it was way different without the 5 minute drum intro. There were a few die-hard Stevie fans around ... I could tell by the response to "Destination Unknown" coming over the loudspeaker -- but it was a very heavy Rod-favored audience. Stevie's physical set was rather simple compared to Rod's set and staging. The two of them worked well together - would have been nice to see Stevie and her crew come out for "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" and end the night together. An odd pairing, but it worked - I was highly entertained -- it was great seeing Stevie Nicks again and it was great seeing Rod Stewart for the first time. |
A couple of things I remebered to mention: Rod introduced Stevie at the beginning of her set and gave her a nice introduction in his set as well. After the show was over Rod thanked all of us "on behalf of Stevie and myself."
I had great seats on the floor and no one was told to put their cameras or video cameras away. It was a free for all.So guys, bring your best cameras and DVD recorders to these shows, they are allowed. There was plenty of security there but the only thing they objected to were people who held up signs. They didn't want those blocking other people's views. I stood up and danced through many of the songs. I couldn't help myself, and few around me rarley stood up during Stevies' performance, but no one ever asked me to sit down. Also wanted to say that Rod put on a great, enjoyable show, He showcases a lot of talented women musicians and I found that very endearing. When his set was over he thanked us all "for spending your hard earned money on us." I can't wait to post the cool photos. Much Love, Viv |

Once Rod hits the stage, you can pretty much stand up and move about as you please, but during Stevie's set, you'd better be prepared to sit. One of the "Real Soccer Moms of New Jersey" behind me took me to task! |
Caution -- not all venues are as friendly on the cameras as they are at Mohegan Sun. That's why I much prefer Mohegan over Foxwoods, fyi.
They're pretty lax at the Bell Centre in Montreal, too, which, if anyone is making the trip, is an *awesome* concert arena. |
I was at the show as well, thought the WHOLE show Stevie and Rod was great. The only thing that bugged me was the guy running up and down the aisle doing jumping jacks. I kept thinking, "Dude, you're not watching the show AT ALL!!!" most of the time he had his back to the stage trying to get people to dance with him.
Here's hoping that Stevie comes back on the In Your Dreams tour. And please, come back to Mohegan and NOT Foxwoods!! I hate Foxwoods!!! Great venue, but I don't like the place overall. |

Another fun thing I just thought of to mention: when Rod decided to kick lightweight soccor balls from the stage into the audience and watching everyone's excitement in trying to be the one to catch and keep their ball. The girl right next to me caught one of them. |

Thanks for all the details guys!
Funny that Stevie said, there- now you've seen it after the Secret Love video. Somebody must be keeping her informed about what her fans have been saying. Good to know. Jamie |

I had the pleasure of meeting Viv, a charming soul, and wish we had more time to talk! High Priestess Stevie cast a powerful spell last night. Her vocals and beauty were intoxicating - as always - but the true magick of the evening for me was witnessing a level of confidence and sexiness that I haven't seen her display for many moons now. She was truly relaxed and enjoying herself - no nerves on this night. Stevie shined brightly, her band played brilliantly, and I can't wait (hoping!) for a CT/New England IYD tour date! Highlights of the set: Secret Love (the video is VERY cool), GDW, Sorcerer, Rhiannon, Edge, and Love Is (not a dry eye in the section I was sitting in). The only low of the evening was the absence of Stevie playing tambourine. Melissa (london) |
Viv disagrees with this review
With decades-old heydays and sandpaper vocal signatures in common, Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks are naturals for a double bill. In practice Sunday night at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, the pairing was a nostalgia showcase, spun by each artist in a notably different way.
Headliner Stewart fostered a party atmosphere with a strong whiff of camp around its edges, reveling in the role of '60s-style lounge denizen as he paraded forth in a shiny orange dinner jacket, shiny black shoes and spiky peroxide-altered hair. He has extended his recording career with middle-of-the-road soul interpretations of familiar favorites and the American Songbook, and kicked off his show with a lively push through someone else's hit, grappling gamely with the chugging "Love Train." Nicks featured recent material alongside stalwart hits, with the throbbing "Secret Love" and powerful "If Anyone Falls." Her singing retains its singular nasal quality, but has little flex or finesse leaving its high end sharp but not particularly expressive in the Fleetwood Mac hit "Dreams." The contrast between the two singers was particularly evident when Nicks joined Stewart for a pair of songs in his set, among them a sprightly "Young Turks" in which his singing was cool and genial, hers hearty but stiff. He toyed with tunes while easing through his performance, shrugging off his 66 years to play the good-natured sex symbol as he swiveled into the supple flow of "The First Cut is the Deepest." Nicks' stagecraft began and ended with the slow-motion twirling within "Stand Back," fluffing one of several shawls that remain her particular accoutrement. The toughest part of her package to swallow was her blunt vocal instrument; she had to dig deep to pull anything out of a stripped-down acoustic reading of "Landslide," and sounded like she was in the right place only when hammering at her outsized closer "Edge of Seventeen." Stewart hurling himself at "Downtown Train" while his 13-piece band filled ample sonic space. A country lilt from decorative fiddle and acoustic guitar lines colored "Reason to Believe," while Stewart leapt into a sturdy Chuck Berry vibe to rasp gamely across the horn-peppered "Sweet Little Rock and Roller." Stewart changed jackets multiple times, ultimately landing in a glistening purple suit as he plowed through the treetops of his deep hit catalog, booting soccer balls into the audience while barking the sturdy "Hot Legs," and turning the mandolin-trimmed "Maggie May" into a lively sing-along. His encore of "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" was offered with an amusing slice of bravado that came with at least some expectation he wanted everyone to believe it remained true. Stevie Nicks' Sunday set list: "Fall From Grace," "Secret Love," "If Anyone Falls," "Dreams," "Sorcerer," "Gold Dust Woman," "Stand Back," "Rhiannon," "Landslide," "Edge of Seventeen," (Encore) "Love Is." Rod Stewart's Sunday set list: "Love Train," "Tonight's the Night (Gonna be Alright)," "Havin' a Party," "Passion," "Young Turks," "The First cut is the Deepest," "Forever Young," "Downtown Train," "You Wear it Well," "Reason to Believe," "You're in my Heart (The Final Acclaim)," "Sweet Little Rock and Roller," "Rhythm of my Heart," "Proud Mary," "Have I Told you Lately," "Hot Legs," "Maggie May," (Encore) "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" http://www.courant.com/entertainment...,6934981.story |
That review was really in The Courant!!!??? You have got to be kidding me. I thought Stevie sounded phenomenal last night. Yea, like I said in the other thread...it would be cool if she was more playful with her audience like Rod is, but that is awfully harsh towards Stevie's vocals.

^It's funny how her hair seems to glow in that last picture. It stands out amid everything else.

Pictures are AWESOME....never really seen that side of her before on stage...I was getting board at seeing the same old images.
If anyone has video of Dreams from this show could they post it....It is always so cute to see Stevie's reaction when she flubs a line..... It always make me laugh to no end. |
