Things you DO NOT want to hear Stevie say in concert

All in good fun, what just makes you cringe when you hear Stevie say it on stage?

What I don't want to hear:

1. "This shawl is sooo old....but so am I!"

2. "This next song I'm going to sing was written by Tom Petty/Bonnie Raitt/Bob Seger."

3. "When Lindsey and I first came to L.A.........."

I can't wait to see Stevie, but she always seems to say the same things. Is it because she gets nervous?

CADreaming 03-20-2011 02:09 PM

"Um, this next song..."

SapphireSister 03-20-2011 02:16 PM

Thank you.

louielouie2000 03-20-2011 02:20 PM

"This next song is another one I didn't write..." :(

bluefox4000 03-20-2011 02:23 PM

"I'd like to introduce my good friend Sheryl Crow"

Mick

Or, "I'd like to introduce my good friend Vanessa Carlton."

Also, wouldn't be partial to:

"Waddy, come closer."

Michele

bluefox4000 03-20-2011 02:50 PM

Oh I got one, "I'll be on TV next week. I'll be performing. Stand Back. Dreams, and a bonus.......Landslide!!!!"

Mick

CADreaming 03-20-2011 03:00 PM

"My Dad always thought Landslide was about him."

Stevie needs to simply talk less, limiting her song introductions to two at the very most. By now we all know what Dream is about, what Landslide is about, what Fall from Grace is about and what Sorcerer is about. I find her introductions not only rambling but they completely kill the flow of the concert.

Oh, I also don't want to hear Stevie talk about how we can all save the music business by going to cafes and having a revolution. WTF was that nonsense all about??!

bluefox4000 03-20-2011 03:15 PM

"My next album will feature Kanye West."

I can't remember what she said on the SYW tour exactly, but she always had to be careful to distinguish the song SYW from the album SYW and her wording was cute, if awkward.

I loved the Gypsy intro for the Unleashed tour and every slight variation thereto.

Oh, it's never, "My GOOD friend, Sheryl, Vanessa, etc"...

it's always, "I'd like to introduce my LITTLE friend, Sheryl Crow."

"I was talking the other day with my LITTLE friend, Vanessa Carlton..."

"My LITTLE friend, Michelle Branch and I had a conversation about..."

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Gypsybecca 03-20-2011 04:14 PM

"I'd like to introduce the love of my life, and boss, Waddy Wachtel."

1. Is Waddy REALLY the love of your life?
2. If you're paying him, then YOU are his boss, right?

I thought it was very interesting how the story evolved from a few sentences to a full blown monologue by the end of the tour. Although like you, I loved hearing it each time.

I don't know why but it bothered me when she muffled "Let's Get This Party Started" during Unleashed. If I never heard that again that works for me.

DallasDude 03-20-2011 04:24 PM

"Christine is like my best friend, even though I haven't spoken to her in like 10-12 years."

"The internet is just a fad."

"I don't need to sell as many CDs now that I'm not in desperate need of cash to support my coke habit."

"I can't wait to duet with Justin Bieber!"

Hawkeye 03-20-2011 04:27 PM

You know, when me and Rod started this tour 18 months ago in what was it April 2011 like 3 months before my album In Your Dreams came out, it was just for a couple shows, but well it was just SO much fun, we just had to keep it going"

StandbackStevie 03-20-2011 04:31 PM

I wrote this song in colorado and it was a time where Lindsey and I were not sure what to do next should i be in the business or back to college, well you know Lindsey and I were like married you know. And we got to taste the finer things of life recording in a big studio making a record to have it just be dropped as soon as it was released was like were back at square one you know and Lindsey and I were like married you know i did stupid jobs so he can practice day and night and to get us to were we want to be its alright for me to do stupid jobs because it was fine.

darklinensuit 03-20-2011 06:04 PM

"My new album, 'In Your Dreams', is my masterpiece! I think it will be out by the end of 2011, or whenever my brother Chris finishes designing all the photo inserts and fonts."

- Jake

Sanne2 03-20-2011 06:11 PM

"Please take a look at the merchandise stand, not only did my brother design wonderful t-shirts, but also keychains, pillowcases AND the new tourbook!"

michelej1 03-20-2011 06:29 PM

"You all remember I Can't Wait, don't you?" She pauses to allow for loud explosive clapping and cheering from the audience, then continues:

"So, now please welcome my handsome brother Chris, to recreate his dance moves from that video."

Michele

bluefox4000 03-20-2011 06:43 PM

"Please welcome.......THE CAST OF GLEE!!!!!"

She said this in Connecticut on last years 'This is Not A Tour Tour.'

PenguinHead 03-21-2011 01:05 AM

I wish she would omit the verbal crutch "thing" from her vocabulary. If she's the poet she thinks she is, you'd hoped she could find more descriptive words. Even in her lyrics, she sometime uses weak generic terms, where a better word would strengthen the lyric.

APerfectLie 03-21-2011 04:26 AM

Here are a few:

-"Lindsey"
-"Every once in a while, a song comes along that you did not write"
-"Rhiannon rings like a bell thru the night... YOU FINISH IT!"
-"And now, to help me out with this classic hit, please welcome Miss TAYLOR SWIFT!"
-"ITS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I'VE ROCK AND ROLLED!"

Michele

Here it goes..."This next song is from our new record Say You Will...it's the song itself, Say You Will..."

a bit awkard but Stevie may it sound charming nonetheless;)
