sevenwonders site contest

http://www.sevenwondersonline.net is having a poster contest for In Your Dreams.

You all know I love photoshop, so I already made one. The more the merrier.

*Contest will take 2 phases-
Phase #1:
-have members create and submit their images for the poster by 8pm on 3/19. *limit of 3 entries per member*
-please send images to [email protected]. This way no one will know who's image is who's and generate a bias.
-once all entries have been received, a poll will be created on 3/20 at noon and will go to 3/26 at noon where they will be voted on.
-image with the most votes will be used for the poster
-posters will be made and shipped to the "street team" by 4/3

Phase #2:
-once the members receive their posters they are to take pictures of where they displayed them and submit them to me.
-entries MUST be received no later than 5/2
-creativity and enthusiasm will play the biggest part in this and the most creative and enthusiastic person will win the contest.
-prize to be announced at a later date

I'm really confused. What kind of 'poster'? Are there any sort of like... instructions as to what this poster is to include and what it can't, etc?

A poster promoting In Your Dreams, I guess he wants release date on it, but you can put the title too and whatever else you like

Artemis 03-13-2011 08:22 PM

Is this like, creating a physical poster, or a digital one?

Jondalar 03-13-2011 08:32 PM

a poster for print, and by the way, the prize is not a master reel, some dork posted that, I'm sorry, they are not sure what the prize is yet

Jondalar 03-13-2011 10:48 PM

so anyone else going to join in the fun?

Artemis 03-13-2011 11:23 PM

Soo could I make one in photoshop and submit that? What dimensions should be used?

Jondalar 03-13-2011 11:27 PM

11 inches by 17 inches, yes, that is what I did. make it in photoshop at preferrably 300 dpi, save it as a jpg and send it too them, look on there site, the details are on there

Artemis 03-14-2011 12:05 AM

Well, I made something. I'll wait until the morning to decide whether I want to submit it or not. Not quite sure if I like what I made or not, and I'm terrified of email when I don't know the person. /lame.

Cool beans. I been making them too. They are soooo fun. The more the merrier.

johnb84 03-14-2011 12:13 AM

I don't have Photoshop or I would try. I guess I'd have to have Photoshop talent too. Ha.

It seems kinda odd that they want more posters for the contest, but they're denying people's registration to the site. Perhaps you can bring it to the attention of the powers that be?

What a Joke! I havent beenm there in years and this is exactly one of the reasons why. And everyone thought the Ledge was cliqueish? NOT EVEN CLOSE/:nod: Ive met the owner of SW and he's a narcissistic self absorbed queen. So it's no suprise that the sight reflects that.

I'm sure this is some kind of malfunction or something.

I don't think it is a malfunction considering I tried to join also about 6 months ago and was rejected then also. I am trying not to take this personally; but I have to wonder what is the deal? I don't think I want to join now cause it sounds like from what people are saying that it is cliqueish and they ban people for no apparent reason.

It's not that cliqueish since I'm sure I'm not a favorite on there, as well as here either. I've got too much personality.

A few months ago, I got a confirmation email from them stating that my membership was approved, but then when I tried to log in, it said it wasn't valid. Weird.

You know...I went back and forth on this last night, and again this morning and initially decided not to say anything about it. However, I'm halfway through the day now and it's still bothering me. Your quote above is an extremely unkind thing to say; and while I suspect you are thinking of the original board admin (his name is Brian) the site has been run by someone else for maybe three years now, and he is a very kind and polite individual who would never stoop so low as to say something as unpleasant about another person as you just did.

Frankly, EVERY message board including this one has cliques of people that only talk to or respond to each other's posts so it's really pointless to compare them. EVERY message board including this one has banned people for reasons that others may or may not agree with, so that too is not exactly a distinguishing factor between this board or that board. Lastly, every message board including this one has ups and downs with volumes of posts and active members, and while that may or may not be an indictator of the leadership, it's simply not true in this particular case.

Seven Wonders has recently been made public again (it was a private forum for a few years), and is viewable by non-registered members just like this board. It is a friendly place and very welcoming to new members. I would encourage anyone interested to lurk a little while and judge for yourself before relying on second hand info from someone who openly admits they haven't been there in years.

If you are having trouble with registration or login, I suggest you e-mail the site admin. He has a busy life outside of the forum, so it might take a couple of days to get a response.

This silly forum war between certain members of The Ledge and Seven Wonders has gone on for 6 years and to be honest it's childish, petty and downright stupid. I don't know why any moderator would allow personal attacks like the one posted above to remain, and it reflects badly upon the membership of this forum.

I'll get off of my soapbox now. You can think of me whatever you'd like for commenting on this issue, but someone has to be the voice of reason now and then.

I pm'ed you regarding this, and as far as I'm concerned, no hard feelings.

louielouie2000 03-17-2011 02:22 PM

I don't moderate the Stevie forum, but I can say I really wish people would leave discussion of 7 Wonders on the 7 Wonders message board itself (or at best, move it to the Chit Chat section). While each Fleetwood Mac message board caters to a different type of fan, in the end we're all still Fleetwood Mac fans and have more in common than less. So let's try and keep the divisiveness out of this thread and instead focus on all things Stevie Nicks in here.

For me it's the opposite. I have nothing in common with most Mac fans other than the Mac. Which is good enough for me to try to be civil and try to be sensitive (even when I'm not treated that way). I am so fascinated by the Mac that it's the one topic on which I'm always eager to hear anyone's ideas. In the past, when I've tried to invite other Mac fans into other realms of my being or enthusiasms, it's either been fruitless or disastrous.

I agree about the bolded statement. And we think it's just (us) sometimes lol. Anyway, I'm sure people being denied access to 7W is just a glitch maybe since as far as I know they're always welcoming new members and Sandor who runs that board is nothing but nice. This is the first I have heard of any issues regarding people joining the board.

I don't mean to be disrespectful (who, moi?), but really, what is the point of 7W? I could understand if it became a defacto refuge for those banned from the Ledge. But it's not even that; they don't seem to be posting over there. From what I can tell, it's basically a subset of people from the Ledge (along with a handful of non-Ledge people) posting about basically the same stuff that gets posted here first; there really isn't much in the way of unique content that I could think of. And overall you don't find the range of opinion and perspective that you find on the Ledge. In a nutshell, it's just kinda dull.

I agree with you, essentially. 7W was started as a temporary place to post while The Ledge was down for a few days back in 2005. Instead of closing down when The Ledge came back up, the admin at the time (LiquidBlue5000) kept it open for some reason. The fan base split and ever since there has been this stupid rivalry with people here saying the people there are all ~airy-fairy wyndchyld~ types and the people over there saying the people here are mean and unwelcoming . Members from both boards have trolled the other in the past further amping up the rivalry, causing bans and bad feelings on both forums at various times. Neither stereotype is true, and it's just silly!

Why are there both Loews and Home Depot? Why both O'Reilly's and Auto Zone? No one has a monopoly on Stevie. Both sites meet the needs of different types of Stevie Fans as well as the SAME Stevie Fans. Different places might have different perspectives. Gemini types, like Stevie, have been known to like variety and constancy as well.

DavidMn 03-17-2011 04:29 PM

I think perhaps I could've used a better choice of words, certainly. It just upset me when Lorraine, who is one of the nicest people here was rejected for seemingly no reason. I want to say that I dont believe everyone on SW is like that.:)

IDK, for me its always about Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac information *1st and foremost*. I've been a member of this board for a much longer time, but never understood the rivalry that sometimes arises. It's just silly and petty and works it's way out one way or another anyway. But HejiraNYC is right, the other board has become stagnant and a bit on the dull side. I think the tide turned when they transferred it to a tiered voluntary donation membership = additional access site.

Af far as individual members go, until recently, I never really tracked the personalities  (though I do miss J. Stews posts)! Thats low on the totem poll for me, I visit both boards and see who has the most up to date information, followed by which has the most interesting threads/discussions. I'm too old for all the cliquey chit! What gets & keeps me interested is a well written & thought out point of view. I look forward to our mini Stevie/Mac op-ed's. And though I'm not taking sides or interested in starting a skirmish, I have to say, I visit & post on the Ledge more, due to it definitely winning in diversity & perspective in writing...so far.

I'm not saying that anyone has a monopoly on Stevie or FM. I was only asking why someone would go to a board that has essentially the same content (or less), and is just not as interesting and varied. But if that floats your boat, more power to you. If I was going grocery shopping, would I go to the bigger store with the fresher produce and the greater selection, or would I go to the corner store with a limited, unvaried selection? I would personally go to the former rather than the latter.

My application (and essay!) that I submitted to this site had no response back to me for months after I emailed it in. I just assumed there was a glitch or a backup of applications wanting to join ~ no big conspiracy theory in my head of "banning" or whathaveyou. When suddenly, months later, I got an email from here, I knew that there had been a glitch, as I surmised, and was happy to be a member here.

Same here. I started out my online days posting on the Fleetwood Mac Legacy board (www.fmlegacy.com) because it was just so friendly, homey, and a more manageable scale. But after I graduated college and began working full time, I focused my Fleetwood Mac time on the Ledge simply because it's the best source of Fleetwood Mac info on the internet. Anything that goes down is always posted here, and is always posted here first AND with the most detail. Over the years though I've managed to make some great buddies here. That was never my intent when I joined, I just wanted to stay abreast on all Mac developments. But it's been a most welcome addition :).

And a third option would be to shop at both, getting what you enjoy from both locations. :)

Edit: Especially since you're not literally driving across town from one store to the other, but merely clicking a mouse.
