Do you guys think Mick is mad at Stevie?

I mean she nixed the tour with the Eagles to make a record. She's the one who stopped it. We all know Mick loves money. He's got some projects on the side but he doesn't get any songwriting royalties. He has to tour. I doubt Lindsey cares at all because of all his producing and writing royalties. But I can just see Mick mad as hell.

BombaySapphire3 03-13-2011 02:11 AM

You do know that he is playing drums on at least half the songs on In Your Dreams?

He is essentailly the Daffy Duck of rock and roll:lol:For someone that loves $ so much he has been bankrupt twice.I think Christine is actually the most parsimonious of the Rumours 5.

I think Stevis getting the most songwriting royalties because of Landslide and her solo stuff. I thought Christine sold her rights to a bank. I wonder how many times Christine will bail him out. I know she has given him money before.

According to his book she only kicked in 50gs which was a drop in the bucket.Christine spent way less than Stevie but since 1998 she has been earning way less too.I doubt Chris has much interaction at all with Mick these days.

louielouie2000 03-13-2011 03:32 AM

Stevie has the entire band by their gonads. They can't afford to get mad at her. Stevie and her management have wranged 40% of touring royalties for her... Lindsey gets 30% and Mick and John each get 15%. Everyone in Fleetwood Mac knows that their success rides on Stevie's presence. So even if Mick were spitting mad, he could never show it. I'm also guessing Stevie hasn't wanted anything to do with Fleetwood Mac since before SYW was released. That's why she's looked so miserable during the past 2 Mac tours. But I'm guessing the reason she keeps her association with the Mac is so Mick and John can get paychecks. She knows they rely on her. Mick is probably still thanking his lucky stars that Fleetwood Mac got 82 dates with Stevie in '09.

If Stevie said this who is she kidding she loves Money just like the rest of the world besides mick and you can tell by the ticket prices to Stevie Nicks concerts she loves money too we all do if we can make it. Music today is not about the artistic of it anymore its about how much we can make. It's not the 60's,70's and 80's where its about the music.

Exactly.

Stevie is as bad as Mick on the money front. She certainly spends a lot more than any other Mac member these days I'm sure.

I reckon Christine and John were probably the most sensible money wise.

I had no clue that she gets 40%. Are you freaking kidding me? That is news.

Also, I would say that Stevie really has not liked Fleetwood Mac since Christine left. Touring is harder on her and it's not the same. She loved Christine liked a sister. Plus, she doesn't tend to embrace change.

mitzo 03-13-2011 06:50 AM

40%! So that means she made how much from the Unleashed tour?

I agree. I think when Christine left, a "light went out" for Stevie. It will never be the same for her and it definitely has shown on stage since 2003.

CADreaming 03-13-2011 09:47 AM

"Christine has been gone since 1998 so I have been the only girl in this band for a long, long time. I’m used to it now. At first I was not used to it. After ‘The Dance’ was horrifying for me. She has been gone a long time and I’m fine with it now”. - Stevie, 2009

Artemis 03-13-2011 10:29 AM

At this moment in time, to the masses, Stevie Nicks IS Fleetwood Mac. And I think she knows it. Sure, they could make a record or tour without her, but they all know that, rightly or wrongly, it wouldn't sell as well. I think TISL and SYW sold pretty much the same amount? So, to me, that says it all. For most, Stevie is still very much the star attraction of the band.

Mick might be mad at her, but he's certainly not going to upset his cash cow.

Besides, I thought the Eagles tour with... was it the Dixie Chicks who ended up going on tour with them? Flopped majorly. So, if anything, Mick should be glad that Stevie stopped that trainwreck from happening.

a little bit on christine

christine was the backer for the dance tour,
when WB wanted to tap into the back catalog money
she refused and that is why she hasn't toured with FM...
Christine also wanted to do Oprah,
but WB didn't think that FM would be good on her show,
so they pushed Stevie to Call christine and talk her out of Oprah,
that is why we only see Lin & Stevie on the late night shows doing Landslide...
christine is the richest of them all...

Fascinating. But I'm confused about the top part. What is back catalog money? And how was Christine the "backer"? Why hasn't she toured with FM?

Also the Oprah thing is interesting because it shows us how much power WB wields. Horrible. And, as Destiny Rules shows, how easily the band is set against each other by WB.

How could Christine be the richest of them all? That doesn't make any sense. Lindsey makes a mint from production and songwriting and has a bunch solo projects. Stevie makes has made a mint from her solo and fleetwood mac stuff. Stevie made 7 million off one song—Landslide. Christine is 3rd richest. She's not as rich as them.

I could see that this was probably the case in 1996 (before The Dance) But since The Dance and into the new millennium until now, Stevie has got to be richer than any of the 5 of them. Sure she has huge overhead and staff still, but she has made some serious touring and publishing royalties over the last 13 years. Stevie is set. But really, who gives a hoot, all of them are financially solvent, we really should worry more about ourselves.

And as far as all this Oprah stuff goes, It sort of makes sense. The time that FM should have or could have been on The Oprah Show was right after The Dance. And if they rejected her, Oprah probably has no interest in interviewing Stevie at all because of that incident. I heard Oprah say on a recent show, something to the effect that If someone didn't want her (meaning want to come on her show), then her attitude was she did not want them back conversley in the grand scheme of things... or something like that.

StandbackStevie 03-15-2011 09:44 AM

I want to say out of everyone in FM I believe and probably right that Stevie Nicks has the most money out of anyone in the group between her successful solo carreer and being in FM. She can perform the same venues as she does with FM to sold out crowds she definetly makes the most money out of all them. I think she is smart with her money too.

 WHAT?? "A mint"? Do you REALLY think that Lindsey MAKES money off of his solo projects? Hell, no. Why do you think he keeps coming back to Fleetwood Mac? So, he can make up for his solo projects' losses, that's why. Sure, the whole band makes enough to live extravagantly according to our standards, but I seriously doubt they're going to be challenging Bill Gates or Warren Buffett's territory. And Lindsey & Stevie make a bunch more than Mick or John due to songwriting royalties (but, don't Mick & John have a small percentage in the publishing of L&S's songs that are used for FMac? I think they do. Hence, the whole "Silver Springs" debacle in the early 90's)

Even Stevie's solo career is probably floating at just a fraction over "break even" at this point.

I've seen Lindsey on two different solo tours both in very small town's. Both were very small theater type venues. One in Hanford Calif. & one in Modesto Calif.

I dont ever see Stevie diong these little town theaters, point being I would think its easy for Stevie to pull in the bucks solo as to where Lindsey needs to play small town venues to bring in some cash???

Boy, I do wish she would, though. Seeing Stevie in a small house - like Denver's Bluebird Theatre - with less than 300 people would be a dream come true.

No ****!! When I saw Lindsey in the Hanford Theater I was able to hang out at the front of the stage with no problem!! I don't think the crowd knew he was going to let them strum his guitar during GYOW like I did tho!! But still such a different show at these samll venues!!

Locally she has played Jones Beach and the (insert corporate sponsor name here) Waterfront Center in Camden, PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, etc. in the years following FM's stops at these sheds. Fleetwood Mac generally plays in places with between 8,000 - 20,000 capacity. Stevie generally plays in places with between 3,000 and 15,000 capacity. So although there isn't 100% overlap, there is a broad range in the 8,000 - 15,000 seat range where FM and Stevie share common ground.

In addition, locally here in Denver, Stevie has played Fiddlers Green amphitheater (also a venue FM played in 2004)@15,ooo+ capacity for the Street Angel, Enchanted & TISL tours. And Red Rocks @9,000-10,ooo capacity for the 2005 Gold Dust & 2007 Crystal Visions tours - both of which were nearly sold out.

I anticipate since the Heart & Soul tour skipped the Denver area, that Stevie will hit Red Rocks amphitheater again for the IYD tour sometime this summer *fingers crossed*. Having said that, I would also LOVE it if she hit the Fillmore Theatre (3,ooo capacity) here in Denver, but again Stevie has far too big a fan base here in the Denver area to play such a small venue.

Yeah, I don't know about Unleashed (when they didn't over extend themselves as much as they did for SYW) but I do recall that FM hit those venues in addition to tapping everything they could out of Madison Square Garden during the SYW tour.

I think Stevie's ability to reach sell tickets in that range is dwindling. She certainly doesn't need to play the state fair grounds, but it seems that she is in the 5000 capacity area these days.

She could do like what the Allman Bros Band does at NY's Beacon Theatre. Just set up residency for a couple of weeks at a SMALL place (like the aforementioned Walnut Room...which is just a mile or so north of LoDo for those in Denver who know the area)...the only stipulation would be that she couldn't play the same set on consecutive nights. She could actually get to be a little more spontaneous with her song choices.

Exactly... I've seen Stevie and Fleetwood Mac both at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte (seating is about 18,000). Stevie obviously makes more money in touring than Lindsey does... but I still argue Lindsey has quite a healthy bank account. After all, he does get production dollars from Fleetwood Mac's albums. And I believe it was Christine who said back in the late '90s that Lindsey had been better at holding onto his cash than the rest of the band had been. God knows, he had to of made a killing on his Bel Air home when he sold it a few years back... he'd owned that property for about 30 years. Stevie may bring in more money currently... but she lives a much bigger lifestyle than anyone else in the band, so she pays dearly for that. My guess is their personal net worths probably aren't all that different from one another these days.

yes she can and has in the past and today as well, Last year she played in Aug. at Foxwoods MGM Grand Thearte which is smaller than the mohegan sun but I have heard that the reason was they couldn't get into Mohegan Sun Arena was there was a show already booked for that date last year so there was an opening at Foxwoods and went there and She has played sold out shows at Mohegan Sun Arena solo on the Crystal Visions tour in 2007 and in April 2008 she played to another sold crowd there as well and she has done shows at big venues ampitheartes in Connecticut and Civic Centers in the past same places where FM has done as well both have sold out so Yes Stevie can play the same size venues solo as FM's in my opinion and its factual probably depending on how strong of a fan base she has in the are and in New England and New York and pretty much the whole eastern side of the country she and FM have a huge following Stevie solo and FM as well.

Your right, the Walnut Room may have better sound engineers, not to mention micro-brewski's, but the Bluebird has all that sketchy, seedy ambience;) Same with the Gothic and Odgen Theaters here in Denver. I've seen some incredible shows over the years at the Bluebird though:cool:

Well, yeah, it does have that Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead vibe (at least when Buddy Guy plays there)....and of course, Annie's Cafe is across the street, too, for pre- and/or post-concert noshing.

I know she has played those large venues in the past and with that Two Voices tour, they were still hitting the big venues. Stevie and Don. The venues have been smaller for Stevie by herself since then. And when she plays larger venues, she doesn't sell out like she once did. It's not just her, it's a sign of the times economically as well.

She doesn't have as big of an audience as FM looking at ticket sales, but since she doesn't have to split her solo profits with anyone else, after paying her band and crew, if she toured solo for as many months as FM tours, she might make as much money by herself as she does with FM. She'd just have to canvas more of the country than she typically does solo to do it.

Lindsey sold his Bel Air home for $21.5 million. It was odd because around the same time frame John sold his home for like less than $2 million and the way real estate prices were skyrocketing at the time, John had to have been living in a shack for it to sell for so little.

The last time I saw Stevie solo was '05 (I also so her on the Tom Petty tour in '06), and she played the same venue by herself that Fleetwood Mac had played the year before. Don Henley was not there. You're right, though... Stevie's solo audiences have dwindled since then. Fleetwood Mac's have too, for what it's worth.

I remember Lindsey's home being on the market for $25M... so I guess he got fairly close to asking price for it! He had to of paid a tenth or less for the property when he originally bought it.

I'd never heard about John's house being sold. I assumed he'd gotten rid of his LA digs when he moved to Hawaii some years back. I can't say I've ever seen any info on his home other than the shots from the Classic Albums: Rumours documentary (assuming his interview shots were taken from his home). Looks like he had a gorgeous view!
