I love this album so far because...

Ok, I love everything about this album so far. I love the photos. I love Stevie's confidence. I love the fact that they have went all out and turned this album into a big thing. The love how Stevie has handled herself in interviews. I love the way Dave Stewart has embraced her fans and the way he talks about Stevie. The songs are great from what I can tell. I love the fact I may be getting one of the best albums of her solo career near the end of her career. I love the fact that she is 62 and has not turned into a lounge act. I love that Stevie may have gotten out of a rut and is more open to change. I love the way she looks at her age. (She looks better now then 10 years and she still has a waistline.) I love the way Stevie fights for herself...

I have huge hopes for this album. I hope the actual music lives up to my hopes, but I'm very happy so far.

Why do you love this album so far?

RockALittle250 03-11-2011 03:32 PM

I love the concept that they've developed. The Rhiannon-esqe enchanted forest, horse and mysticism and the fact that the theme is a cohesive one. I'm thrilled that Stevie has stayed consistent with her image, yet she has shaken things up musically and artistically with this album. And it's great that she's surrounded herself with such talented people who are at her disposal.

Josh2003 03-11-2011 03:34 PM

Well I think it's way too soon to say that I *love* the album.

But what I am VERY happy to see is that there seems to be a very strong theme that they're embracing: a gothic, darker, ominous vibe, with lots of great imagery. From the song titles/subjects (Moonlight, Ghosts Are Gone, Italian Summer, Annabel Lee, possible New Orleans track), to the artwork that we've seen, it looks like it's been a very cohesive attempt at giving this album a character all its own.

That is a great point. She has remained true to herself after all these years and doesn't follow the trends that people want her too. She's got character.

Me too! I love the darker, ominous stuff. And it shows she has balls. She is still a rocker!!!!!! She will not go gently into the night—without a rocking fight!!!!!!!!!!

I love the fact that this album will not be another one of her famous "Missed opportunities."

She is doing all she can..even though I've been skeptical about her jumping on the Glee/Twilight bandwagons....if that's what it takes to sell albums, then Go Stevie!!! :wavey:

Can't wait to buy several copies of this cd for upcoming birthdays, etc. If this album is half as good as I've heard it is, then F yes I will.

I think what Jondalar meant was they loved the project... not necessarily the album. I agree with absolutely everything Jondalar said, by the way. Stevie looks fantastic, sounds amazing on Secret Love, she's taking gorgeous photographs, has agreed to a documentary of her solo career... something she's never done before, she's happy, confident, and upbeat in interviews, etc. It's just an exciting time to be a Stevie fan, for sure. I think that's all Jondalar was getting at :)

Yep, that's what I mean't, thank you.

Jondalar 03-11-2011 11:03 PM

because we seem to find out something new everyday

Jondalar 03-12-2011 05:17 PM

I bet if I started a thread which said I HATE this album so far because... There would be 40 negative posts in a heartbeat.

WildHearted 03-12-2011 05:21 PM

I like this album because it's the first 'new' album that I've been around for... all the others were released either before I was born (mostly this variety), or before I was a fan.

I love the idea of this album so far because...despite having only heard one track , by all accounts it appears Stevie is finally positively embracing & incorporating her love of all things romantic & philosophical to the all out gothic & supernatural i.e. vampires, ghosts and Edgar Allen Poe into this record & documentary/film.:D

For me, the In Your Dreams cover sets the tone, and its intention couldn't be more clear. It's obvious to me it's inspired by the centerpiece track off IYD, which I believe is "Moonlight - A Vampires Dream", inspired from Lady From The Mountains and that scene from New Moon that struck a chord with Stevie so deeply it encouraged her to complete and revise LFTM into Moonlight and begin recording again! I am loving the mood of all the artwork that is being released and have even higher hopes for this album now than I did last summer when Stevie was hyping it as going down in history as the best of her career. This is going to be effing exciting!

The fact that Stevie has embraced her gothic side finally (maybe) has got me all excited. I listen to her because I love atmosphere. Looks like that is what I"m getting.

jellyman10 03-14-2011 06:09 AM

Yes, rejoice!

I'm excited too! In fact, I have to keep reminding myself to calm down because no one else in my life cares about this, really, ha ha.

That's really cool! Though I've been alive since 1965, I became a fan of the band in 1977. I remember being very excited in anticipation of the Tusk album, and completely memorized by Bella Donna.

Where is the damn tracklist??

Though it has not officially been released i'll bet that we have the tracklist..what I'm wondering about is the Secret Love video .Could be that Warners or Stevie herself were unhappy with it and pulled it..wouldn't be the first time.

I'm still not entirely convinced that the New Orleans song is in fact called New Orleans, and there seemed to be some questions about the one that was posted, so I'm still holding out.

I love it so far because SHE loves it ! To me, that provokes excitement that we may get an outstanding album ! She seems really happy with how it turned out and that's encouraging. Plus, as you can tell, I LOVE Annabell Lee ! I can't wait to hear how this turned out. I only hope it's not too different from the demo.Besides Space Needle it's my fav. demo.

Jondalar 03-25-2011 12:25 PM

because the teaser trailor is excellent... I can't believe they did all this on a small budget

chiliD 03-25-2011 12:56 PM

I'm tempering my excitement because I don't want the "bar of expectation" to be set too high and set myself up for disappointment; leading to some possible future grief if I should post something negative (God forbid!) about the album. So far, I'm just happy that I like the "Secret Love" track and leaving it at that.

Well played sir. You wouldn't want to be accused of being negative, mean & nasty for voicing your honest opinions.

Did you watch the video teaser?

Sahara 03-28-2011 08:02 PM

I love how indulgent the whole thing is. Stevie is directly and unashamedly embracing that dark, Gothic, fantasy aspect of her musical and visual style that has always been there but never quite acknowledged. I love how bloody clever they're being with their teasing us, even if it's driving us all wild at least it has us in a flap. And yes, I love it because Stevie seems so excited by it :)
