I think she also came back to join Sheryl on "The Difficult Kind," and it was absolutely disastrous.

Does anyone have this? I have the other ones but would love to hear this most of all.

The Catdancer 03-08-2011 12:40 PM

Oh my, wasn't she supposed to be clean & sober in 2001????

mikebise 03-08-2011 03:55 PM

Stevie's never had a problem with alcohol. Nothing wrong with her drinking it.

SuiteShangriLa 03-10-2011 09:46 PM

I have it on CD somewhere, but that CD might be at my parents' house...

baboles 03-10-2011 10:34 PM

Is it just me or does she sound f'n awesome when she breaks into SDMHA??
Real Bluesy lol

Bubba Fleetwood 03-10-2011 11:29 PM

I actually love this version of Talk To Me. Very bluesy. Stevie and Les did 2 or 3 numbers including a pretty rocking version of Johnny B Goode. Yeah, Stevie is stoned here but I dig stoned Stevie over dull, by the numbers and going thru the motions Stevie anyday.

As someone posted under the clip on YouTube :

A Drunk Goddess is still a Goddess ..............

J.Miller 03-11-2011 08:39 AM

"Sheryl what did you put in my drink?

mikebise 03-17-2011 11:29 AM

"I said I can't get it on time...
What can you do
To make me stay in line?"

Do you think if this wonderfully drunken version of "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" is ever officially released (on a rarities set?), that the writing credits would now read:

Additional lyrics by Stevie Nicks ;)

I'm grappling with the context in which Sheryl and Stevie can be so messy! It's funny though. Was the "Shine" show a small off-shoot gig? I can see this as being completely acceptable in a small club-like setting, but not for a high-ticket show. I aways anticipated that their live version was a beautifully polished performance, not a drunken, basement garage band rendition!

I didn't listen to but a snippet of SDMHA, but my guess is mainly Stevie's off kilter because she doesn't have her teleprompter or her ear monitor. So she can't remember her own words OR hit the correct pitch without reminders!

...and I'm sure Mary Jane didn't help, either ;)

As I recall, it was a very low-key, small-venue show the night before TISL came out, or very close to it. I think there were other guests there that night (I want to say Kid Rock? Keith Richards maybe?), but it definitely was NOT advertised as featuring Stevie and the other guests.

Well, then that makes sense. Essentially it was a bunch of friends getting together, getting wasted, letting loose and having a good time. Professionalism was not a factor. Clearly!

I happen to be digging all of these recordings. I love hearing Stevie letting her guard down and acting ...well, like the rest of us. It's like the tapes we all have where she swears. She comes across as much more real than the image she tries to hide behind. That's Stevie Nicks the person and not the image. She's so much more interesting.

Shine was a tiny little club on Bleecker Street in the Village; I've only been there once to see the last show ever by... Salt nPepa! :p It is fairly tiny with low ceilings and a low stage. I didn't know about this gig at all, but from what I can recall, I think it was invite-only anyway. Kid Rock was there. Keith Richards was there. It was a lot of sloppy, drunken covers, so if anything, it would have been a bit of a buzz kill if Stevie was up there all stoic and serious. She got into the spirit of things, even if it meant having to surrender her 30-day chip.

amoscascott 03-18-2011 12:14 PM

This show was actually listed in the papers the day of the show as having Stevie and Kid Rock there. Back then Sheryl would often play a few club shows around the city with special guests and tickets were available to the public. I am trying to find the article from the NY Post from that morning. Great show.
