Miss Nicks on KBCO in Boulder, CO.
Stevie will be on KBCO on Monday morning with Bret Saunders.....I believe at 8:00 AM. :blob1::wavey:
|
I just heard that! We were listening to KBCO at the same time. I wonder if it is one of the canned interviews she pre-recorded a couple weeks ago, or if it will be "Live"?
They are playing Secret Love on 2 radio stations here in Denver: KBCO (Triple A) & KOSI (AC) |
I hope it's a new one! The last time she was on there - it seemed like her and Bret knew each other pretty well.
|
Thanks for the heads up!
|
Cool. If someone can please post it that would be great! I don't know if it's streaming but I do know I'll be sleeping lol.
|
Just heard "Secret Love" for the 1st time on the radio (KBCO) :blob1: I knew they were playing it, but had yet to hear it. Sounds great in the car!

I hear Stand Back, Edge of Seventeen, and Landslide all the time. Sometimes Dreams too.

On the NYC classic rock station but not since. It would be nice if Once in a while they played those instead of the classics. I mean I hear Landslide from The Dance. But even that is from 1997. |
Inteview this AM
The interview was great today on KBCO - they only played a few minutes of it - but the full interview is on KBCO.com. :blob1:

and we got another title for a song!!!! "You May Be the One" !!! YAY!!:blob1:
|
ok, another title of the song, You may be the one, from Stevie lips
|
This is by far the best radio interview yet. Now we know why there is a circus in her video; because her house was like that during the making of this album.

I love how she says that Lady Gaga sat with her at an after Grammy party and said that when she gets stuck while writing a song she says to herself "What would Stevie do?"

I can't wait to hear this! I have to run out for a couple hours but will listen this afternoon.

That was a great interview! She revealed so much more than in a lot of those other radio interviews. Just goes to show how much good stuff they actually cut off from her interviews.
|
This was a great interview!
I had to chuckle to myself when Stevie said, "Sometimes [songwriting]'s not fun. Sometimes it's very tedious, and sometimes you argue and you really get in each others way. And somebody suggest thats you change a lyric and your reaction to that is not in this lifetime." Totally reminded me of the whole 'You wouldn't say that to Bob Dylan!' debacle. |
One thing that struck me about this interview is that the songs her and Dave wrote together are TRUE colloborations. He did not create the song by himself and neither did she. It's not like If I Were You, where she just wrote a bridge. As far as Everybody Love You, Dave started the song, but he didn't have it done. She wrote lyrics and they worked on structure. Obviously, a lot of her poems she started singing and that dictated how the song would sound.
I just watched Dave's songbook and he said writing songs with someone is Falling in Love. I think he fell in love with her during this album creatively and vica versa. The fact that Dave is mentioning to Stevie that they have hardly turned any of her poems into songs, says to me he wants to work with her again. |

It seems like Stevie may finally be rounding the corner in regards to the internet. She cites Youtube as the way Karen found Secret Love, and Stevie herself admitted she hadn't heard the song in decades, and she never would have thought of the song had Karen not found it online. Stevie even admitted the Youtube version ended up being better quality than her vault one.
Overall, a neat interview. She rambled quite a bit... but it was when she started veering that she'd slip up and say something new and unrehearsed. |

She introduced "Storms" as "Always Been a Storm," for example. |
Yeah, it was interesting to hear her talk about all the demos and stuff that have been bootlegged. I'd love for somebody to sit her down and list some of these songs and tell her she needs to record them.
I know a lot of people think she shouldn't touch them, that they're masterpieces the way they are (I strongly disagree, in most cases), but I'd love to hear a lot of these things properly recorded. |
OK all you techno geeks, where on this site do I find this interview? I have searched the whole page and now Viv is pissed off.
|
That was a really good interview. It just amazes me how Dave Stewart had such a powerful impact on Stevie. Sounds like he brought the atmosphere and support she needed to let go and want to write music again. Nice job Dave!

Just listened! Great interview! Was this live when it aired? Because it really sounds like she just woke up.
|
It also sounds like she's planning on continuing ending her set with the 3rd ballad, "Love Is".

Seems like Stevie has quite a few more than 3 ballads to me...
eta: that is, if we're talking about the musical quality of the songs and the modern connotation of 'ballad', and not the more traditional interpretation regarding the storytelling... |
