Weren't We Getting Some Sort of Preview this Week

Hey all, this past week has been crazy- and I've really been sick. But, I recall some point last week us saying that in a week we were expecting some sort of video preview of something. I don't remember what it was or when we were supposed to be getting it, but I just I'd check, because I know someone out there know!!! :)

louielouie2000 02-22-2011 05:15 PM

There was talk of the Secret Love video debuting this week. Warner has postponed the trailer from Stevie's documentary indefinitely. We'll see if we actually get a video this week of Secret Love, though... I have my doubts.

Last monday Dave sent a tweet that Warners wanted to delay the preview/trailer so they went to work on editing the Secret Love video. Stevie showed the trailer/"sizzle reel" to a lucky group of industry peeps this weekend at the Sunset Sessions radio industry gig-fans who saw it said it was very cool and that it captured Stevie's world:)
Sunday Dave updated Stevie fans saying the "Secret Love video is just being tweaked now it's extracted from parts of the movie as many others will be , very cool looking". So hopefully we will be seeing that by weeks end.

I suspect we wont be seeing the trailer till sometime after the video premieres.

Yeah, but on a positive note I think things are just beginning to pick up...In 2 short weeks we will really be in the home stretch of promotion for IYD.

RS writer Dave Wild just tweeted "Writing something now for Stevie Nicks. Having trouble keeping my inner 12-year-old desperately in love with her between the lines". Hopefully it's for a feature in an upcoming RS issue!

Actually, according to Stevie Nicks, we were supposed to be getting the album a week from today!

Dave hasn't tweeted much of anything in the last 3 days. I'm hoping it's because he's busy editing Secret Love/documentary stuff. But yes, I also thought we were going to get to see the video this week, as he tweeted three weeks ago that we'd get to see it in "three weeks". Maybe Warners has a hold over what he can share with us. At this point, since we haven't heard nor seen anything (at least those of us who didn't get to go to the Industry show) I'm betting that's the case. Warners has the final say of when everything is released.

I'm not holding my breath over seeing anything this week.

Yeah, I still think the SL vid could possibly turn up by this weekend. But if not, then surely after all the Oscar hoopla that is driving the entertainment news this week. An early March video release seems like a fresh way to kick off the new month of promotion for IYD;). Then a few weeks later they can unleash the trailer.....but I WANT IT NOW~!

RockALittle250 02-23-2011 09:09 PM

They may be waiting until closer to the tour starting on the 20th of March. Stevie's getting really great promo now with all of these radio interviews for the tour, and they're actually playing her song!

Lindsey Buckingham Guests on Stevie Nicks' "In Your Dreams"Wed, 23 Feb 2011

Stevie Nicks will release her first solo album in a decade on May 3rd. It's called In Your Dreams and her former Fleetwood Mac bandmate and ex-lover Lindsey Buckingham appears on the song, "The Soldier's Angel."

Nicks told VH1 that "it's very serious, it's a song that I wrote about Walter Reed that's called 'Soldier's Angel.' So Lindsey came in and played guitar. It's just Lindsey and me. It's very Buckingham Nicks and I think that it's going to be a very serious and important song to the world and I think it's a very serious and important song for Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks because it sounds like Buckingham Nicks. Because it is."

The smoky voiced singer also said about Buckingham that "it's just him playing guitar and me and he sings with me on the choruses. And it's ominous. It's an ominous song and his voice lent even more ominousity to the whole thing. So I think the world will be really knocked back when they hear 'Soldier's Angel' and I'm really excited for them to hear that."

Are you excited to hear "Soldier's Angel" for the reunion of Buckingham and Nicks?

not to mention the mania over GaGa releasing Born This Way this week. i'd steer clear of that too, if i were marketing Stevie

It better not be the same poem she wrote. That thing wreaked. When dealing with subjects such as thing, do not write in code.

Thank heavens the real young Stevie looked a lot more interesting than that girl.

ok, I like the carnival feel for this and I like the young girls. The one with the trees tells me this is going to be very atmospheric. I'm thinking this is sorta going to be like the Deep Dish video.

I have to say that I really liked the Everyday video and really loved the Sorcerer video. She has been doing better videos now then in the 80s. The only video I loved back then was Gypsy. The others were weird and the Rooms on Fire video looked cheap, like an economy video.

I hope this video is good, but Stevie better be in the video, at least as a fortune teller.

Pyewacket 02-28-2011 01:56 AM

Isn't that Stevie in the first shot, with her back to the camera? The hair is blonder and straighter than the girl's.

It looks like Stevie to me, but it very well could be someone else. For some reason I get the idea that there will a clip of Stevie twirling and sometimes when she turns around, it will be her and then the next time it will be the young girl.

I am also loving the atmosphere of these clips! However, the "young Stevie" could really make or break the video. I love the idea of a younger Stevie, or even a Stevie like girl being portrayed in the video, but teeter a little bit in the wrong way and it can look more satirical than enchanting. In Terminator Salvation, they were able to use someone's body and digitally put Arnold Schwarzenegger's face on the body for the scene since he did not do an actual cameo in the movie and it was pretty neat. It would have been kick ass if they could have made a "young Stevie" with Stevie's actual likeness.

I don't know. It looks like the same girl to me. Same hair, same color. The lighting is a little different because the shot is farther, but I'm pretty sure it's that girl.

Glen was a glorified roadie who became Stevie's assistant and I think briefly acted as her manager during the klonopin haze. He was her guinea pig for her experimental pill dosage test to see if her shrink was trying to kill her.

I'm pretty sure that is Stevie in the first cap. It looks like her arms and hair to me.

You're totally right! Those are definitely her thicker forearms, and those are most certainly her signature split ends, too! :p

I'm sorry to say that I watch Fashion Police with Joan Rivers. They show photos of celebrities, mostly to critique the fashion. However, they have a segment called "Guess me from behind," where you try to guess who the celebrity is without seeing their face.

Be it her arm, legs, head, silhouette, I have a feeling that all of us would be pretty good at guessing Stevie from behind, if they gave us a line up of people and never showed any of their faces.

One of the things I liked during the SYW tour was during NGBA, when Stevie was not singing on the chorus at the beginning, she'd be in the corner getting dressed for Rhiannon and she was fully visible to the audience as her assistant put on her long black sleeved covering. You could see her bare arms and I was struck by the lack of modesty there. True, the spotlight was not on her and she was in the semi-darkness, but there was no shield up. It was like she was getting dressed in open view. I always found that kind of intimate and charming.

From what I remember there are several young "Stevies" looking at themselves in the mirror in the video and sizzle reel.

This always stuck in my mind as well. I don't remember her doing it at the later 03' and 04' shows, but at that first show in May of 03' I was like "woah baby"!

Upon further contemplation of Dave's Secret Love screen shots, they left me intrigued but a little scared at the same time. This video could look completely cheap or may be beyond our wildest dreams. The verdict is still out. But these are my observations based on what Dave has revealed so far.

I do love the 1st shot featuring Stevie's spectral aura in front of what appears to be a circus-style drop screen. I would be loving the 2nd shot with the misty ominous forest more if Stevie were featured within it. Which brings me to the 3rd screen cap (which is the most concerning) of which I like to refer to as a Stevie-bot - trying desperately to capture a thimbleful of the potency & enchanting spirit of La Nicks. Somebody should have told Dave and his crew that simply wearing Stevie's vintage Rumours gossamer does not illicit the same magnetism or response. And the fact that she bares no resemblance to Stevie is further distracting, unless they set out to feature cross-cultural sisters of the moon:laugh:.

The last 2 screen shots in particular remind me of Deep Dish's video for "Dreams" which featured a young Stevie-ish actress. IMO A video full of aberrations of Stevie is not what I want to see featured in Stevie's 1st music video in a decade. The imagery is interesting but lets hope the execution is skillful not caricatural.

If you look carefully, the outline of Mini-Stevie in the third shot can be seen in the first shot, which leads me to believe that there is a transition from Stevie to Mini-Stevie while she is in mid-twirl. It seems like an intriguing concept... Mini-Stevie back in the day was a wayward little gypsy in a traveling show, but now the elder gypsy is the show and even wears the ringmaster's tophat to prove it. So perhaps Mini-Stevie's secret love was a clown... or perhaps the bearded lady?

If you're going to have "younger Stevie's" in a video wouldn't it make more sense to actually use old video footage of younger Stevie? Just sayin'...
