WildHearted 02-17-2011 06:16 AM

I saw her on E!News last night as well. She was really cute and seemed to be very chatty.

The Catdancer 02-17-2011 08:34 AM

Alright!!!! Miss Nicks is back!!!! Woohoo :blob2:

RockAlot 02-17-2011 01:24 PM

There a clip of this @ FM news & reviews... Also fat bottomed girls & PYT and I think she's not there was just played last week......:sorry: K, I admit I watch the show, but in my denfence, Stevie likes it too!!!

Christopher 02-17-2011 02:23 PM

Just saw the clip. And the thing that stood out was Stevie's fake hair!! I know mama wears pieces here and there, but that long mane of blonde in the back looks to be a full on wig!! No wonder it looks so perfect every single show. 1st it's the uniform, & now apparently most of her golden mane is a full on hairpiece. :(

Stevie is just plain getting lazy with her appearance!! Same street clothes, same basic uniform, same hair. And it's really too bad for someone of Stevie's mythos, which has inspired legions of fashion designers from her heydey for being different, sometimes outrageous with her hairstyles, bohemian style & clothes to her unusual voice and unique songwriting. I would argue that Miss Nicks (esp in the kingdom of her heyey) is more unique and more unusual than Lady Gaga could ever dream of. I know she is older and wiser now, I just wish Stevie could recapture just a glimpse of her former strange and eccentric self. I know it's still in there somewhere. Hopefully Dave and Glen were able to capture some of Stevie's free spirt lightning in the studio!

yeah it does kinda look like a wig at first but then when i saw her from the front it didnt. i am thinking that is her hair but its hard to tell from that clip. i agree she needs to change her clothes though. she could look so much better!!

louielouie2000 02-17-2011 02:40 PM

I think she looks totally precious. It's interesting to me how elderly looking Stevie has become in such a quick time, though. Like in the past year or two. I guess all that hard living is descending upon her at last.

I also see that Stevie's visit to the Glee set was a full on PR move, as well. But good for her... it's smart, and it appears she's actually having fun doing it :).

Artemis 02-17-2011 02:43 PM

Aww, I loved that, thanks for sharing. I think she looks great

Although someone, please, tell her shoulderpads are deeeead. And they ain't coming back.

Christopher 02-17-2011 02:46 PM

Not only is it a PR move but also a shrewd business move esp. if she "landslides" onto the next Glee soundtrack Vol. 5! The song Landslide alone is turning out to be Stevies 401K/IRA retirement plan.

SapphireSister 02-17-2011 03:37 PM

I think she looks absolutely gorgeous, not aged the way Louie made it sound ;). Keep in mind I'm a little biased.
I hope Landslide from Glee becomes a huge hit and exposes Stevie to a whole new generation that actually knows it's her song. You really couldn't ask for a better way to reach the kids now a days.

Thanks for posting this additional footage! Stevie is adorable even when watching her sometimes is like watching a train almost derail the tracks. Don't get me wrong I would never want her near tranquilizers again to qwell her nervousness. It's a part of her and I just love her for being her oddball self. Now I just hope for some more fashion sense. Margi Kent recently tweeted that we can expect some new looks on the upcoming tour!!

Stevie's nervousness while speaking never ceases to fascinate me. She's been a public figure for nearly 4 decades now... you'd think she'd have gotten over that long ago. But I guess she really is one of those creative types who is only comfortable speaking through her medium of art. I've seen it time and time again in artists/painters/musicians/poets/etc.

I don't think beautiful and elderly are mutually exclusive at ALL :wavey:.

Shoulder Pads

Shoulder Pads aren't dead... They are back in fashion in a major way.

Appearance-wise, while initially odd... they distract from other less-flattering areas and give females a nice structure that they otherwise lack.

Janis_no1 02-17-2011 05:22 PM

YEP!!! EEEK its a wig!

:-( oh stevie

Didn't Stevie also major in speech communication in college?

Also, I was showing this to my mom because she loves Glee and loves Landslide too.. and she just kept saying how she hoped they didn't butcher the song, and how sweet and pretty Stevie still was as she watched haha. Also, even my mother thinks the hair is fake. :)

Oh.. additionally... I just noticed how thin her legs look. I guess I usually can't tell on account of the dresses and boots.

fringed n fab 02-17-2011 05:27 PM

I thought she looked better in the video snippet than the pics. I don't see why she always makes herself appear so old, you're as old as you feel I think. I haven't seen or used a hot water bottle since I was losing a tooth and my face swollen in 1981 as a kid. Apparently she doesn't know they make heating pads for tired achy muscles. Love her though.

I don't think shoulder pads are good on short people, especially short people with stubby little necks. Let's face it; Mama does not have the neck of a swan. She needs clothing that visually elongates the neck, not something that will actually make it appear smaller. What I find odd is that, in her every day life, she will wear those cute, drapey, shoulder-baring tops, and she looks fab. But on stage she comes out with those Joe Namath shoulder pads looking like a cabbage patch doll. Maybe she would feel more confident about her shoulders if she added some side lateral raises and tricep extension into her workout regimen!

I'm sure Margi is hot gluing those little beads, as we speak, like her life depends on it.

fringed n fab 02-17-2011 05:43 PM

I'd like to see the drapy layers and witchy gypsiness come back. I didn't like all the ruffled frilliness she's been wearing the past few years. I'm excited to see what Margi whips up, but Stevie already has badass flashy (under the lights) cool handkerchief skirts she can wear with her amazing tops and it's great stagewear and timeless pieces.

Yeah, appearance-wise she's like the female rock and roll version of Michael Kors. They even wear the same outfit!

fringed n fab 02-17-2011 05:54 PM

We can but wont go round and round about this, but Stevie has always had grown out hair and long/longish, shoulder or longer. Since the 70's and now. I think it is still her hair  In a world today of instant glamour and fakeness added, there are still people who can and would rather grow their own, real hair. You can spot fake hair a mile away on people because it doesn't move and just hangs there dead weight like clumpy strings. JMO.

I would think if anyone could tell her hair was fake it would be you Shane!!

So you think its her hair? I would hate to think she would wear fake hair, cause her hair is simply "Gorgeous"!

RockALittle250 02-17-2011 06:41 PM

I for one thinks she looks great. Of course she's wearing black, that's Stevie's way, but i like her "street clothes"; it's very her. And the fact that she's wearing pants makes her look all the better because she looks thinner in body hugging pants, even with looser clothing on top.

kak125 02-17-2011 06:47 PM

not sure if the video posted on page 2 is the same but this was posted on perezhilton.com today.

WoW, People are really bashing Stevie on Perez's site. Some posters called her "granny" , "gross" & my favorite so far... "cokenose Nicks"
Time for some damage control!

Yes, I think it's her real hair she's taken the time to grow. I think she may have trimmed it off through the years when it may have been too damaged or whatever and regrew it (early 90's group pic comes to mind) but other than that I think she has always taken the time and effort to grow her long hair out instead of instant extensions like so many celebs wear because they don't keep the same look after a week and are always changing up. But for most people, there's nothing like real hair you're able to grow and be proud of and that moves about naturally. I think the problem with society today is they automatically think your hair is fake if you have long hair and it's not always so. If you're able to grow it and make the commitment to it, nothing takes the place of long, real hair.

I think Kyle Richards is so pretty and she has long hair and has said it's real.

I love her sister Kim's haircolor and layered cut. I think Stevie would look good too with some layers cut like this while still keeping her length. Would be so much easier to add style to I think and wear different ways instead of all the weight and same hairdo all the time for her.

SapphireSister 02-17-2011 07:30 PM

I seriously don't understand all this picking her apart (granny, wig, hot water bottle, etc.). When I look at Stevie now a days none of those things even cross my mind. I just see her beautiful soul and can't help but smile both inside and out. She's still the same person inside she was 30 years ago. It's about the damn music! I was just thrilled to see recent footage of her air on T.V.

And you know what, now that I think about it, the whole granny thing really bothers me. It should be the haters talking about that, not her most beloved fans. We should all wish we looked as good as her at 62. Leave her alone already!

And yes, I know it makes for good discussion about these things here on the Ledge and I would never take that away from you guys I'm just very defensive when it comes to our girl for those of you who don't know.

fringed n fab 02-17-2011 07:35 PM

I don't pick her apart. I think we all love her regardless. We're just always making conversation on these boards. I don't see the harm and no one's harming our girl. We just get to talking sometimes.

tilthefirefades 02-17-2011 07:39 PM

Do people really think they're dealing a low blow by calling her granny? Isn't that just stating the obvious? People may as well say "lol she has a face". I'm fine with the black (I'm one of the few that prefer her in black), I'm fine with the wig, but I do have to say the glasses are tad much.

fringed n fab 02-17-2011 07:44 PM

It's not us projecting her as grannyish, Stevie herself seems to do that anymore these days. She's in charge of her image she projects on people the same as any of us are, by how we describe ourselves and what we wear. We love her but the same black frumpy uniform and George Jones shades do nothing but age her even more when she could umph up her image in public but doesn't seem to wanna put any effort into it these days. Just sayin'

ejof17 02-17-2011 07:44 PM

Oh please! That's one "granny" who is laughing all the way to the bank. She's an icon. PERIOD.

The thing is, Stevie is NOT the same person she was 30 years ago. 30 years ago she was an out of control, coke-addled maniac. She seems much more grounded now. She's aging beautifully in my opinion. I'm sorry every single time someone mentions Stevie aging it sends you into a tizzy... but that's your issues brewing, not ours. I think it's sweet Stevie's mellowed into this motherly figure. I think she's just precious. She's getting older, that's a reality. She's doing it with grace in my opinion. She's not fighting it desperately. I don't think you should, either. Stevie's nearly 63. She's well past being able to be a Grandmother. That's a simple reality. Hell, I worked with a 36 year old Grandmother at my last job. So what? Age is a state of mind. Stevie's clearly youthful for her age. She's still gorgeous. We all know that. We're just observing the ever changing phenomena that is Stevie Nicks. Stevie's getting older is part of that. It's not a bad thing... embrace it. Stevie is! She talks all the time about how desperate and awful she was when she was younger... and how she'd never have plastic surgery to turn back the clock. She relishes the fact she's made it through this many years... I think you should, too. :wavey:
