Create your own FM Tour w/o Rumours songs

I was reading the "Happy Birthday Rumours" thread and thought about what if Fleetwood Mac did a tour without a single song from the Rumours album. Obviously it won't happen nor should it, but we can still ponder it.

So create your own setlist, 20 or so songs, for a 2011 FM tour featuring the same lineup as the Unleashed tour.

Remember no Rumours album songs including "Silver Springs". You can do any other songs, i.e. Pre-Rumours, Post-Rumours, Christine, solo, etc.

Silver Springs 02-05-2011 11:44 AM

I havn't put these in any specific order, because I'm lazy and no good at that kind of thing :p
  1. Tango In The Night
  2. Paperdoll
  3. Stand Back
  4. Eyes Of The World
  5. Bleed To Love Her
  6. Tusk
  7. Book Of Love
  8. Oh Well
  9. Station Man (Would be interesting to hear Lindsey’s take on the song)
  10. Say You Love Me (I’m probably an absolute Heathen for wishing to hear Stevie’s approach hehe )
  11. Blue Letter
  12. Storms
  13. Say You Will
  14. Beautiful Child
  15. Run Through The Garden
  16. Gypsy
  17. Sara
  18. Say Goodbye
  19. You And I, Part1
  20. Oh Diane
I did toy with adding Man of The World, but some things even I wouldn’t mess with. You can’t improve on perfect.

TerraRhiannon 02-05-2011 11:59 AM

My dream set list I would like to see: Minus the Rumours songs.

1. World Turning
2. Rhiannon
3. Bleed To Love Her
4. Destiny Rules
5. Thrown Down
6. Fireflies
7. Gypsy
8. Landslide
9. Monday Morning
10. Peacekeeper
11. Sweet Girl
12. Seven Wonders
13. Tusk
14. Caroline
15. My Little Demon

These are in no order neither.

Its the Unleashed lineup Mick, John, Stevie, and Lindsey "tour". Christine's songs can be performed on this tour, a la "Say You Love Me" from the Unleashed tour.

Villavic 02-05-2011 02:37 PM

cool game. easy for a fan
Since "no Rumours" is the only rule you mentioned about songs, this would be my desired list, but includes Christine:

1. Monday Morning (a good opening)
2. Affairs of the heart
3. Isn’t it midnight
4. Love in Store
5. What’s the world coming to
6. Sara
7. Big Love (Tango version)
8. Tango in the night
9. Think about me
10. Little Lies
11. Landslide
12. Hold Me
13. Gypsy
14. Seven Wonders
15. Blue Letter
16. Can’t go back
17. Never make me cry
18. Say you love me
19. World Turning
20. Sisters of the moon
21. Stand Back (the traditional “stranger” song)
22. As long as you follow (a beautiful song to end, instead of Songbird)

But since you mentioned the Unleashed lineup, here I go (as you see I don't like S or L singing Chris songs):

1. Monday Morning (a good opening)
2. Seven Wonders
3. Eyes of the World
4. What’s the world coming to
5. Sara
6. Big Love (Tango version)
7. Walk a thin line
8. Tango in the night
9. Landslide
10. Gypsy
11. Blue Letter
12. Affairs of the heart
13. Angel
14. Can’t go back
15. Thrown Down
16. World Turning
17. Storms
18. Sisters of the moon
19. Trouble (his solo instead of GI)
20. Tusk!
Encore:
21. Stand Back (the traditional “stranger” song)
22. Say Goodbye (another nostalgic song to end)

aleuzzi 02-05-2011 03:15 PM

Okay, so Christine's in the mix, too. Here's my idea of an ideal lineup, sans Rumours:

Get Like You Used to Be
Station Man
Monday Morning
Spare Me a Little
Rhiannon
Storms
Bleed to Love Her
Temporary One
Sara
I Know I'm not Wrong
Sisters of the Moon
World Turning
Over My Head
Frozen Love
Big Love (full band)
encore:
Little Lies
Don't Let Me Down Again

I didn't envision anything past The Dance, but I love a lot of the music from Say You Will.

MacShadowsBall 02-05-2011 03:24 PM

Good setlists so far. Its kinda hard though...

jcalzaretta 02-05-2011 07:54 PM

I'd like to see them surprise us all and open with I Don't Want To Know. That would blow me away.

MacShadowsBall 02-05-2011 08:34 PM

In order...

1. Monday Morning
2. Angel
3. Eyes of the World
4. Seven Wonders
5. Save Me a Place
6. World Turning - Lindsey & Stevie
7. Station Man - Lindsey w/Stevie
8. Sara
9. Blue Letter
10. Rhiannon
11. Hold Me - Duet w/Lindsey & Stevie
12. Big Love
13. Gypsy - acoustic w/Lindsey on guitar
14. Crystal - duet w/Lindsey & Stevie
15. Landslide
16. Oh Well
17. Isn't It Midnight (Stevie)
18. I'm So Afraid
19. Sisters of the Moon
20. Tusk

Encore: When I See You Again - starts w/Stevie, ends w/Lindsey singing alone on stage a la album version!

That was tough!

MissLadyLoki 02-05-2011 08:49 PM

This is gonna be hard. I'm the fan who likes hearing all my faves in concert, but here's mine if we can play some BN tunes and Chrissy Mac isn't there and in no order. Hope you don't mind that it's basically Tusk with some other stuff thrown in. And that I have a lot of fun teases that might drive people nuts after a while, but I think is awesome (that's what you get ideas from old-school Metallica songs )

Sara
Big Love (tease us with acoustic, pause so the band can sneak out and Liddy can go electric, and then full band plays)
Sisters of the Moon (but start it off all quiet like the album version, but when the chorus rolls around, break out into Mirage-style awesomeness)
Storms
Monday Morning
I'm So Afraid
Crystal (doesn't matter whehther it's White Album or BN version, but maybe have the Wonder Couple sing diffeent parts and harmonize on the chorus)
I Know I'm Not Wrong
TUSK!
Storms
Angel (and have the mic-sharing bit like in Tusk doc)
The Ledge (I gotta say it: the song and the forum have a lot in common: they're both strange and full of craziness )
Gypsy
Tango in the Night
Frozen Love
Long Distance Winner
Landslide
Not That Funny (but like the Mirage show with all the moaning)
What Makes You Think You're the One
Beautiful Child
I Know I'm Not Wrong

I love that idea! "The Chain" is too predicatable and overdone. "Monday Morning" is better, but it's been done recently. I like the idea of opening with "I Know I'm Not Wrong."

I don't want to know I know I'm not wrong!

If they ever do another tour like the un-aptly named "Unleashed" tour (the only thing they unleashed was "Storms") , I hope they call it "The Rumour-less" tour, or perhaps "The Single-less tour." It would be a more interesting set list.

^ What he said!

Especially like the IKINW/NTF & Stephanie/EOTW segueing idea, plus all the BN tracks. I'd love to hear them do Station Man nowadays, but judging soley on their past performances of it, not too keen on Hypnotized. Trying to think of another Welch tune (Sentimental Lady, Emerald Eyes?) that I think they could pull off, though, I'm feeling like he and LB's styles just don't mesh too well. Is that just me?

Thanks!

Lindsey wasn't exactly enamored with doing Welch's tunes, but he did his best (I thought he actually did better on the Welch stuff than the Green stuff). In this situation, though, I was kind of thinking that Stevie could pull off doing the lead vocal on "Hypnotized" (sorry, should've noted that in my original post)...I think she could probably nowdays pull that one off better than Lindsey.

Well, Lindsey DID produce Welch's French Kiss version of "Sentimental Lady", so maybe they could swap doing that one instead of "Hypnotized".

Was trying to get one of each major* writer throughout the band's history into the set.

*= 10 or more songs written, recorded & released by the band.

Villavic 02-07-2011 05:49 PM

Um...well...um...NO!! That's not Christine's McVie's song from Rumours, that's Bob Welch's Avenue M song (from his Greatest Hits CD). Yeah, that's it...that's the ticket!

Hadn't thought of that, that's interesting, and lyrically it does sound like something Stevie would handle better.

Had no idea he did that, but I haven't heard any of Bob's solo stuff yet. Well, I like this song choice best. Sentimental Lady is my favorite Bob Welch song after Future Games. :D

Just my opinion obviously, but I didn't care for how his younger voice sounded on those two Peter Green songs or Hypnotized. Thought his guitar playing was fine. I do love him on Station Man, though.

Also, it's Bob Welch and Danny Kirwan. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine.

My 20 would be, in no particular order of play:-

1. Tusk
2. Oh Diane
3. Tango In the Night
4. Bleed To Love Her
5. Big Love (TITN album version, not single guitar)
6. World Turning
7. Say Goodbye
8. Stand Back
9. Go Insane (GI album version, not single guitar)
10. What's The World Coming To
11. Little Lies
12. Oh Well

15. Say You Love Me
16. Say You Will
17. I Know I'm Not Wrong
18. Gypsy
19. Eyes Of The World
20. My Little Demon

Much as I like Big Love and Go Insane played with single guitar, does anyone else, like me, actually prefer the studio album versions?

I never want to hear those songs played with a single guitar ever again. Go Insane sounded great with the band and I bet Big Love would too.
