Stevie Nicks Approached GLEE Creator For a Guest Spot!

Stevie Nicks Approached GLEE Creator For a Guest Spot!
Inside the Hot Business of 'Glee'
The Hollywood Reporter

In the latest edition of The Hollywood Reporter- on shelves Thursday, Glee creator Ryan Murphy is quoted with the following:

"Besides, Murphy adds, tons of top-notch talent are clamoring to get on Glee. The latest to approach him for guest spots: Stevie Nicks and Jennifer Lopez, both of whom he’s trying to write in".

markolas 01-25-2011 08:25 PM

Oh my. That would be awesome. (Stevie, that is...I couldn't care less about J Lo).

mezzoforte 01-25-2011 08:27 PM

Ryan Murphy mentioned months ago (maybe even last year?) that JLo approached him, so I'm skeptical that he's actively trying to write her in. More likely, he likes being able to throw out big names.

I'd love to see Stevie pop up, but mainly because I want her to get the publicity. I like Glee, but the celebrity guest spots have been kinda patchy.

Am I the only one who hasn't caught the Glee bug? I'd rather catch the Flu.

Nope! I haven't either. Ryan Murphy also created Nip/Tuck, so when I heard he was making Glee, I was excited! I watched the pilot episode, and couldn't even finish it. It was that day that I vowed not to waste my time with the show unless there was something Stevie related.

Hahaha, same boat here. Except for the Gaga and Britney episode :)
BUT. I couldn't believe the same person that created Nip/Tuck had created Glee.

I have never seen an episode, though I don't know why. I think I would love the show. I don't even know when it's on!

Exactly. Never watched it and probably would love it. Of course if Stevie was on, i'd watch and then i'd get hooked and have to figure out how to DVR another show.

The ONLY good thing about "Glee" is the comic brilliance of Jane Lynch. If they do in fact have a "Stevie episode", I hope they give Jane a song, like "Gypsy" or something. I could see her doing something funny with that like she did with Madonna's "Vogue".

Those "special episodes" were actually among the show's worst.

It's a decent show, but extremely inconsistent.

TerraRhiannon 01-25-2011 09:08 PM

This is awesome! But I guarantee they won't feature 'Gypsy' but rather 'Landslide' or 'Edge of Seventeen'. I'm like a few of you guys, have only watched the Britney episode, plus the one where they sing 'Dog Days are Over' at the end. I don't have much of an interest for the story line or series as a whole. I'm pretty sure I'd rather waste my time watching Greys Anatomy, Dexter or Big Bang Theory much more :D

Jondalar 01-25-2011 09:14 PM

I wish they would of approached her first, but I think she is really, really smart. I wonder if it will just be a small appearance. I hope they base a whole show around her.

cristochango 01-25-2011 09:16 PM

They have made references to Fleetwood Mac before...
My sisters called me down and showed me a clip where one kid made mention to his dolls breaking up and getting back together more times than Fleetwood Mac's rumours lineup

tilthefirefades 01-25-2011 09:38 PM

I don't get the appeal for the show, other than Jane. But then again, I'm not one for musicals, which is basically all the show is.

SmileAtYou 01-25-2011 09:45 PM

I have always thought they should do "Edge of Seventeen" on Glee! Go Stevie!

AliceLover 01-25-2011 10:01 PM

So awesome! I've seen Glee, its somewhat entertaining. Some of the covers they do are decent. I am glad Stevie is really putting herself into the mainstream this year. She has really been pleasing me lately. :D

TerraRhiannon 01-25-2011 10:03 PM

One thing about Glee is that I like the songs they put out as MP3's a lot more than the show itself. I am interested to see what they'd sound like doing a Stevie song. I'm in love with their versions of Jessie's Girl, Toxic, & don't Stop Believing.

Meowi 01-25-2011 10:10 PM

I don't watch the show, but if Stevie was on it I would definitely watch it!

sodascouts 01-25-2011 10:20 PM

Same here. I'm no "gleek" but if Stevie's on it, I'm watching it.

Perhaps they will give her the song "Jane"

they'd have to get Jane doing Standback!!! or Sometimes "i'm" a bitch!

johnnystorms 01-26-2011 02:46 AM

Tried it several times

They totallly sold out on Rocky Horror!, casting an actress as Frankenfurter rather than a cross-dressing male. i just haven't found a hook in the show. Even the GaGa episode was a disappointment.

Artemis 01-26-2011 04:55 AM

I lovelovelovelovelove Glee. I don't care it's vacuous or whatever, it makes me smile, and Jane Lynch has been a revelation as Sue Sylvester.

I'd love for them to do a few Mac / Stevie songs... I just can't see who would sing what

ontheEdgeof17 01-26-2011 07:30 AM

I think this would go over like a lead balloon ala Stevie and Taylor at the Grammys....good in theory...bad in execution.

Haven't watched a single episode. I'm more of a House MD guy!

OooMissionary 01-26-2011 09:43 AM

...

Can you imagine how many takes it would need for Stevie to get through a scene?! The show is horrible, but it would be major publicity if she appeared near her album release date.... Although I'm not sure that I would want that sort of publicity for Stevie. She has too serious of an image for it to work.

*high five* House MD is an absolutely phenomenal show. It really doesn't get the credit it deserves for being so original and inventive. As well as creating the most adorable couple on television (most would say that it's House and Cuddy but that's just not true. House and Wilson are so the major double act of the show).

I agree with this. Stevie is too old, and, let's face it, obscure, for Glee.

Not necessarily. The Grammy's were live. And while someone should have noticed during rehearsals that TS sounded horrible on Rhiannon and made some other song suggestion, the duet live went over like a lead balloon as soon as Taylor veered way off key and it was awkward to watch from that point on.

Glee is obviously pre-recorded, edited & auto-tuned to as near perfection as possible. Ryan Murphy - the shows creator - is a gay man, and probably a fan of Stevie's. They would film her in a positive light if she made a cameo. Otherwise they might just incorporate a Stevie theme using some of her classic songs. It could be good. My problem with the show is I find it highly inconsistent and find myself watching it sporadically. But if does happen, it will undoubtably be great exposure for Stevie to a younger demographic.

jannieC 01-26-2011 12:53 PM

If Stevie does end up on the show, would someone give me a brief summary of the show's concept? Or does it matter?

Wouldn't have mattered what song they did, she would've sounded horrible.

Which was the first note out of her mouth.

Let's face it, Taylor's tone deaf and can't sing...if it wasn't for ProTools pitch correction software, she wouldn't have a career.

kak125 01-26-2011 01:15 PM

Perez Hilton made a small Stevie reference today on his website.

Agreed! TS is a big part of whats wrong with the music industry today. All of the major pop stars today are auto-tuned to death ( Katy Perry - and she was nominated for Grammy's album of the year - it's all such a joke!!) I don't think the kids today even know what a non-manufactured singer sounds like anymore. Technology to some degree is making everything so benign and watered down. You really have to search hard today for new bands and artists that are original.

I'm sure she would be from someone's past, like every other celebrity guest spot on the show....I venture to guess one of Will's former music teachers.

No matter how many takes they get, I cringe at the thought of Stevie acting.

I think at the very most she would play "herself" or would just appear performing in some kind of dream sequence, much like Britney Spears's tiny appearance. I doubt she'd do any acting as such or play a character. She's said time and time again that she never wanted to be an actress and God, anyone who remembers the Chris Isaak thing... ouch.

I'd love to see Glee tackle a Stevie tune, regardless of whether or not Stevie has a guest spot on the show or not.

baboles 01-26-2011 08:54 PM

Not a big fan of the show, but they could definitely pull off a Stevie-themed episode. I can imagine them doing "Edge", "Stand Back", and probably "Leather and Lace".

Agreed. I keep thinking about how embarrassingly awful she was on the Chris Isaak show about 10 years back. Wow.

Regardless, I wouldn't watch Glee even if Stevie made a cameo. Glee is one awful, stereotypical, dumbed down piece of crap. For the life of me, I cannot figure out what the show's appeal is.
