Best Stevie track for thr gym

I've just started exercising again after being a bit lazy for quite some time and aggghhh, I'm hurting right now until I get used to it.

Anyway, I've made what I think is a pretty awesome playlist for the gym (lots of 80s pop/rock, Heart, Springsteen, some FM) and I've of course got some Stevie on there.
Do you guys have any fave Stevie tracks for working out, at home or elsewhere? For me it has to be Rock A Little era - especially Talk To Me! That song is really good for working out, the beat works and I do work that little bit harder for all of 4 minutes! Sister Honey works well too, as does Stop Draggin My Heart Around.

Any others you think work?

I think "Edge of Seventeen", "Wild Heart" (the song), "Sorcerer" (Sheryl Crow edit), "Long Way To Go", "Violet & Blue" and "Enchanted" are GREAT workout songs to get you into a great rhythm as far as cardio!

They also double as fantastic driving songs as well! ;)

Oooohh---good choice! Gold and Braid could work too...

Blue Lamp
I vacuum to that song.

Edge of Seventeen and most importantly, Stand Back! I cannot listen to either without getting all kinds of energy! However, Fall From Grace and I Can't Wait fit well on my workout playlist too.

Yup, I Can't Wait and Stand Back (Soundstage version) are on my playlist too!

TerraRhiannon 01-25-2011 08:26 AM

Edge of Seventeen!!
Enchanted
Imperial Hotel.
Rock & Roll
Sometimes It's a Bitch
Wild Heart
Talk To Me
Whole Lotta Troubleeee
I Can't Wait
Fall From Grace
Stand Back

That's literally my Stevie tread mill playlist in that order on my iPod :)

How about going all 'Stand Back' on a treadmill like she did in the '83 video?
For a bike workout that will really turn heads at the gym, put on a live 70's 'Rhiannon' while pedaling, with a large, dark towel draped over your shoulders, that at 5:05 you can drop to your arms to twirl to and fro swirling for extra cardio and calorie burning while pedaling! Pretend the guy on the bike to your left is Lindsey, and be sure not to whack him in the face with the twirling towel.
Raise the pedaling level up by one or two at least for the big "All the same, all the same, Rhiannon, dream on, dream on silly dreamer" finale, get off the bike, drape the towel down full length, and then pass out elegantly on the floor.
It will be just like a live 70's Rhiannon performance, but you won't shred your vocal cords!

Gold and Braid is my "get up and go" Stevie song. I also love Rooms on Fire.

I have a hard time listening to Stevie on the treadmill...I always want to break out into twirling or some kind of gypsy dance. Edge of Seventeen and Standback are the obvious songs to get you hyped cause you hear them on the radio a lot...these work good for me cause I don't get the twirling itch with them anymore.

Pink is my current workout music of choice.

So raise your glass if you're so wrong, in all the right ways. Pink is a boss. And yeah, I have the same problem with the Stevie on the treadmill thing, It's so funny, I always find myself grooving to it & always just about falling off the treadmill. Thank God for the thing that you tie yourself to that stop the treadmill if you fall off

I never workout which is probably a bad thing, but the times I get the motivation to workout these are my must have Stevie songs.

Stand Back
Talk To Me
I Cant Wait
Gypsy
Edge of Seventeen
Whole Lotta Trouble
Gold And Braid
Violet And Blue
and Juliet

How funny... I used to have a Stevie/Mac workout/jogging playlist on my old mp3 player. I mainly chose rocking songs to keep me pumped up. Here are ones I remember being on there:

Fleetwood Mac: Freedom
Stevie Nicks: No Spoken Word
Fleetwood Mac: Straight Back
Fleetwood Mac: Rhiannon (Live '80 album)
Stevie Nicks: Fall From Grace
Stevie Nicks: Love Is Like A River
Fleetwood Mac: Running Through The Garden
Fleetwood Mac: Sisters Of The Moon

I also included Lindsey-penned songs such as:

Fleetwood Mac: Tango In The Night
Fleetwood Mac: Murrow
Fleetwood Mac: Come
Fleetwood Mac: Go Your Own Way
Fleetwood Mac: Eyes Of The World
Fleetwood Mac: That's Enough For Me
Lindsey Buckingham: Doing What I Can

I'm sure there are plenty of songs I'm forgetting. But the point is, I chose fast paced, upbeat, rocking songs. :)

unning Through The Garden must be added! That song kicks ass.

I feel like Caroline would be a good Lindsey Mac song to add to this :) !!

Disco version of Stand Back is best for the gym.

Deep Dish Dreams remix.

Jeremy's (I think) remix of Sara.

The Rock A Little era is probably my favorite to work out with.

I always run to Long Way To Go. It gives me the fury.

sometimes i'll warm up to GDW or tusk. not that tusk is a stevie song, but you get the point. edge is always on my cardio list.

johnnystorms 01-26-2011 02:37 AM

Boring decision

but i think any of Tracy Young remixes of Planets and Standback, plus Everybody Finds Out!

chriskisn 01-26-2011 02:38 AM

Doing the best that I can (Escape From Berlin) & Freedom.

I used to listen to DTBTIC(EFB) (and believe me it isn't easier to type it that way) on repeat at full volume before I was married. I might end up divorced now if I did that...

CelticGypsy 01-27-2011 12:17 AM

Stand Back, Edge of Seventeen, Go Your Own Way, Sisters of the Moon are a few songs that I walk/exercise to. Stand Back is great when you're boxing. haha

Musicman408 01-27-2011 06:32 AM

ICW, IAF and Stand back!!

Yeah, I love playing Stand Back on my iPod while on the treadmill but I always end up doing the dance like in the video with arms all up and stuff, and I'm a dude so it always gets odd looks from people nearby. Speaking of which, I need to get a new membership, I haven't been to the gym in over a year.

I like the remixes. Tracy Young's Mix of Planets is great pulse racing music, and very nice. I like her mix of Stand Back too. But a lot of those recent Stand Back mixes are great gym music.

This thread has a lot of remixes of it and a lot of them make many of Stevie's songs very gym friendly.

I Can't Wait

Anything that's kind of fast. Enchanted.

Great choices guys! I really love Trouble in Shangri-la too--gets me going on the treadmill for sure.

DestinyRules 01-27-2011 11:12 PM

I use Stevie's cover of "Face The Promise" as inspiration for me to work out.
