Avril Lavigne
Kate Bush, if the rumours are true.

vivfox 01-18-2011 11:12 AM

Besides Stevie and Lindsey I have no idea when any of my favorites are releasing new albums. I don't read up on that stuff anymore. Almost daily I download new singles from many artists. I listen to them for a week and then move on. There is tons of new music to enjoy. I like a song from the first listen or I don't, it's that simple. That is why I already tossed Secret Love in the trash.:sorry:

RickRobert 01-18-2011 11:27 AM

Whitesnake
Adam Lambert
Blondie
Kate Bush
Blink-182
Lindsey/Stevie to a lesser extent

For me listening to a song is a much different experience than this, sometimes it takes me many listens to feel, or understand. There are some songs I have trashed instantly, and then heard them later on down the road, & I'm thinking, "Omg, I should have gave that another chance.. it's amazing." I used to go by first listen, back when all I wanted to hear was catchy tunes & I went through that only-listen-to-pop-music-phase. *shudder ;)

Also, I forgot to add Avril Lavigne's (Goodbye Lullaby), and Britney's, now that Artemis has mentioned it. I heard somewhere that Iron & Wine's was coming out on January 25th, hehe, my birthday  Also I heard Coldplay & ZZ Top, Aerosmith, No Doubt & Nickelback & BLONDIE all have albums coming out :D ..so those ones are exciting!

ButterCookie 01-18-2011 12:42 PM

Uh, BLONDIE!!

Is Bowie working on new stuff?
Kate Bush if the rumours are true.

bluefox4000 01-18-2011 01:16 PM

Mika is supposed to maybe release something at the end of the year. I love this guy. His debut is a rare perfect album.

Mick

McTrouble 01-18-2011 02:01 PM

Just Lindsey :]

HomerMcvie 01-18-2011 02:03 PM

My favorite album of the past five years, is by a young country guy named David Nail. It came out about a year or so, ago. He has a new one coming out, soon(hopefully). The last one, called I'm About To Come Alive, is so wonderful. It's mainstream, but there's a sadness in his voice(he has suffered from depression), that it just drags me into it. When I got it, six months ago, I literally had it in my CD player, NONSTOP, for about 3 months. I couldn't stop listening to it. Much like Rumours, I finally wore myself out to it.

Dodfather 01-18-2011 03:05 PM

There's been no word but I'm really hoping for a new Bonnie Raitt album. It's been 6 years and that's a very long time for her between albums! Oh, and a new Emmylou Harris album would be nice.

KarmaContestant 01-18-2011 03:50 PM

FIONA APPLE
And Stevie, of course.
Eric Hutchinson
James Morrison - unannounced but he's working on it and I'm hoping for 2011.
The Cinematics, same story as James - working, but no announced release.

That's all that comes to mind right now.

Lindsey Buckingham and R.E.M. Not so sure about Stevie Nicks. The proof will be in the pudding, as it were.

jeffd8382 01-18-2011 06:51 PM

Here are the ones I'm looking forward to:

1.) Stevie Nicks - "In Your Dreams" - most excited about! I think Stevie sounds terrific on "Secret Love" and can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

2.) Roxette - "Charm School" - also really excited about... It's their first new studio album in 10 years, and I am excited to hear Marie Fredriksson's voice on the album. I have heard her since her battle with her brain tumor passed, but her voice has slowly been regaining strength over the past few years... and with studio magic and always superb production from Mr. Gessle and his cohorts, I have high expectations. Much like Stevie, for quite a few years, it was assumed there would never be a new Roxette album.

3.) Lindsey Buckinghams - "?" - can't wait to see what he's come up with this time!

4.) Rush - "Clockwork Angels" - they are going back in the studio to finish a couple more songs, but they've been working on this one for awhile from what I've read... should be interesting.

5.) Sophie Ellis-Bextor - "Make A Scene" - this is another one that's been delayed for awhile... hopefully it will live up to her previous albums... I'm not a BIG lover of dance/pop stuff, but I like her voice a lot.

6.) Blackfield - "Welcome To My DNA" - anything Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree) does interests me.. I don't always love all of it, but I'm curious to hear this new collaboration (they've released 2 decent albums under this moniker previously that have some really nice highlights).

I'm curious... as a Rush fan, what have you thought about the Rush albums of the past 20 or so years? I was the biggest Rush fan as a kid. Totally geeked out on Neil Peart's lyrics. So... it seems that their last decent album was Presto in 1989 (or 90?), and then each album sucked more than the one that came before. I couldn't even listen to their last album; it was soooo awful. I still think they are phenomenal musicians, but the music is such drivel now. :distress:

LOL... well I actually became more of a Rush fan in recent years. I agree with you that their early albums were the best. I also did like their 80's albums quite a bit. There are a couple tracks on the last one I liked a lot, but I also agree that the overall quality of their songwriting has declined (at least for my tastes), but I find that true of a lot of progressive-related bands from that era who are still recording. I don't really know why that is...

Have you ever listened to Spock's Beard or Porcupine Tree? I don't know if you'd find them as lyrically brilliant as you did with Peart, but they both have phenomenal musicians as well and have made some interesting albums in recent years. Porcupine Tree's drummer, Gavin Harrison, is often compared to Peart where his chops are concerned... he's not always used to full effect (IMO) in the band, but he has his moments. On YouTube, there are some really cool videos of him playing... where I sit in awe and wonderment lol!

Wasn't it meant to be out in November?

CreepingDeath 01-19-2011 12:22 AM

Machine Head
Tool
Amon Amarth
Opeth
No Doubt
Amy Winehouse
Lucinda Williams
Lady Gaga
Duffy
Adele
Melanie C
Mel B
Geri Halliwell
Kelly Clarkson

Nico 01-19-2011 01:45 AM

Really want Radiohead and Paul Simon. I'm excited for a LOT of new albums (LB), but I feel like it's been forever since PS's last album, and I can never not want anything new from Radiohead.

Oh and Polly Jean Harvey!!!

I just heard about No Doubt being in
the studio two days ago. I really look forward
to their new album.

Duffy???
Do you mean a new album for 2011?
I didn't say this if anyone asks, but
she missed the boat with Endlessly.

Elvis Is Back Legacy Edition. March 1, 2011
Considered to be one of his best albums and for good
reason. This two-disc set combines Elvis Is Back with
Something For Everybody plus hit singles that
were recorded during these two sessions. The remasters
will sound superb.

Oops, almost forgot to add
Lindsey Buckingham's No More.

Ooohh! I had heard they were doing a new album but had forgotten about it! I like the title too - very old school Roxette. Do we have a release date? I'm also hoping for a tour!

I've long since passed by the titilation & anticipation of new albums (yeah, cynical ol' me), but, since these folks already have albums either out or "coming soon", my interest is piqued:

Gregg Allman
Stevie Nicks
Lindsey Buckingham

I have no idea if these next folks are releasing albums this year, but, if they do, I'll be getting them:

Leon Russell (with the response to his duet album with Elton, he should probably follow up with an album of his own)

Steve Winwood (his last one was great, 2+ years is about time for another)

Paul McCartney

daniellaaarisen 01-19-2011 07:03 PM

Stevie and Lindsey's, of course... but also a potential new Florence + The Machine album. It'll be near impossible to top "Lungs." And Gaga!

bucklind17 01-19-2011 07:23 PM

Really excited for Lindsey's and looking forward to Stevie's as well.

The new R.E.M. album, Collapse Into Now, though it'll be tough for them to beat Accelerate.

Matt Nathanson should have a new album out this year, psyched for that
Marc Broussard
fun.
Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers (they're recording now, so hopefully it will be out this year!)
Needtobreathe
Getting eager about Patrick Stump's solo album

DefDumbandBlond 01-19-2011 07:31 PM

Stevie, Lindsey and Blondie's new albums are the only ones I know of right now hmm. I'm not a huge Lady Gaga fan but I'm looking forward to listening to something new by her, I did like the Fame Monster though.

Black_Moon 01-19-2011 07:41 PM

I'm looking forward the most to a prospective Kate Bush album/EP. It'll be her first release in six years (I don't count "Lyra" because it was awful!). I'm also looking forward to Blondie's album, Fiona Apple, I'm pretty sure I heard Peter Gabriel was making a new album too.

Seriously? That could be a good or bad thing. He's a great artist, but I don't think that his fans would tolerate another cover album. Especially if he tries to create another dire rendition of a Regina Spektor song. Honestly, who told him covering Apres Moi would be a good idea? Clearly that person had to buy a dictionary just to look up "music" in it...

Haha yeah it is classic Roxette... the lead single "She's Got Nothing On (But The Radio)" is also a typical Per Gessle track with a very catchy chorus. The artwork for the single also reminds me of "Look Sharp".

I believe it's supposed to be released abroad February 11, but naturally not here in the US, so I'm going to have to order it somewhere online. I keep hoping they'll be able to get it released here at some point, but that never did happen with their last two studio albums.

If you're interested, a good place to check out the latest news and info. about Roxette is here:
http://www.dailyroxette.com/

EDIT:
I just checked your profile and see that you're in the UK... you'll be glad to know it is supposed to be released there sometime in the spring, along with the first single. The European release date is actually Feb. 14th! =)

I've got no idea if it's a cover album or not. I hope it's original material, because when Peter's at the top of his game he's amazing. I'm also looking forward to Amy Winehouse's - it's been too long since she was in the papers for her excellent music as opposed to her antics.
