The Ledge Awards 2010?
I was just wondering if we should have an end of year award thingy.
If so, these awards would show the true board that we are. eg. Funniest moment of the year What do you guys think? |
haha yeah! I'm all in for this
|
Stevie fan of the Year?
Lindsey of the Year? Man of the Mac Award? Woman of the Mac Award? And the prestigeous: Penguin Award |
Stevie fan of the year should go to Miranda.
Not sure who should get the Lindsey one. Probably Bee. Man of the Mac should go to someone that loves all eras and aspects of the band, and I can't really think of anyone for that, same for Woman of the Mac. As for funniest moment, for me it is easily way back in the year when we got those candid shots of Stevie at the steak house, and Louie posted a picture of a bull dog. I can still think of that and laugh hysterically. |
Okay folks...
Any other ideas for an awards? |
i never recieve a award!! i still have alot of things to share with the ledge, but i think this is a good idea!
|
Here is the official list of awards.
Stevie Fan of the Year Lindsey Fan of the Year (Fan awards are given to those who uphold the faith of the fanbase of the given artist.) Man of the Mac Award Woman of the Mac Award (Given to members of the Ledge who contribute a lot to the board. Someone that loves all eras and aspects of the band) Penguin Award (The Ledgie that rocked our socks in 2010) Nobel Ledgie Peace Prize (Someone who is kind all-round, and welcomes new ledgies young and old. They keep the peace at the Ledge.) Fun Awards: Funniest Moment of 2010 More too come! |
I vote we need some superlative type things to, like the most likely to get caught driving down the interstate, going to a photoshoot in their granny panties award :)
|
Awards to be announced January 1st 2011
For your input - please PM your vote for the corresponding award. Please put their name and award into the title. Also, any photo-shoppers (you know who you are!) are invited to create signatures that members can use to highlight their given award next year. |
I'll have to think specifically within the above guidelines to send a PM about it, but off the top of my head, for Stevie fan of this year, and every year, HejiraNYC and MikeBise can't be beaten by anyone.
They win hands down, just my opinion. vivfox should win Mr. Congeniality, but I don't think that was a category. Dodather belongs in there, somewhere, too. Funniest: Well. Several. 'The Stevie of Death' and 'Photo Of The Day' man likely worked the hardest. I need to look his name up, because Stevie of Death is more than a year old, but it's the same man who posts all the photos with captions and allows others to add captions. Will try to find his name, and edit. ^SortaSavageLike is the man's name. How could I have needed to look it up? Huge favorite of everyone's on The Ledge. "Special Award Of Artistic Merit" seems good. Oh, ok, and I admit it, I think I am ****ing hilarious, when I'm not maudlin, or sometimes even more, then! I have been corrected, however, sarcasm is not funny even one little bit(ch), and I hereby promise, promise, that not one friggin sarcastic thought will ever cross my mind again, never, never, never- For as long as my alternate, equally schizophrenic selves and I shall live. We solemnly vow- Hey, Vladamir, shut up, stop giggling, we solemnly vow! Bronislaw, put your pants back on, I'm busy! Okay, then. I think gldstwmn deserves the 'Most Missed Ledgie' award, she posted a night ago, song lyrics, but how I loved to read her thoughts in past years, and this year, apparently she went and got a life! The nerve! Carrie gets my 'Runner Up Award' for 'Most Missed Ledgie', because I feel responsible for her writing significantly less on The Ledge than she had. Hate me if you must, don't accept or respond to a sincere apology since you don't care to, but please do still write here a lot like you used to, and I promise not to reply. LukeA deserves a nomination, belated or not, for 'Major Scoop of The Year' for finding and sharing 'Call On Me For Magic', bringing it to thousands of people, and never asking for any credit or drawing anyone's attention to the fact that it was he who brought it to all of us. I think that's classy. Silver Springs has to win 'Newcomer Of The Year' award. Nomination submitted. David could get a 'Lifetime Ledge Achievement Award'- even though 100 years ago, when I was very new here, David asked if I was 'trolling' him when I insisted that I remembered SN opened with 'Edge of 17' at Peace Sunday. He said it was 'Sara', and I deferred. Years later, I found the set list on line for the entire event, posted it, and my memory had not failed me, as he said it had. She did open with Edge. But so what? He still is the best of the best and has contributed brilliantly. Daniellaarison has to win something- "Is that what you want?"- If that's not what she wants, she still deserves it! Iamnotafraid, JannieC, and aperfectlie get 'hero' nominations for "Ledgie Survivor Of The Year". Threadstarter, MEOWI, forgive me for the following: I think you should and must extend your Christmas deadline. Peoples is bizzy enough this time of year without one more pressure! How about sometime the first week of January for deadlines for PMs to you, and winners announced in late January or February 1? That's awards season, anyway :) Christmas deadline, really! Really? Or, do it your way as you intended before I butted in, forget the above, and how dare I?! |

So we going ahead with this?

Somebody should tell Ethan. He's been wanting Ledgie awards for literally years.
|
What about me? I haven't been here long, but I deserve something

What about me? I haven't been here long, but I deserve something, wrote MissLadyLoki^
Yes, MissLadyLoki, you do! I was thinking about who I may have left out, and your name was first. I thought of 'Nicest Ledgie' but think that may not be good enough and will have to contemplate more. This can't possibly be done right with a Dec. 25 deadline with results on New Year's Day, just sayin'. Meowi, esteemed Australian with the great idea, try not to be angry about my opinion, because it means nothing and you should do as you please :) It was your idea! |

Oh yeah, and I think Stevie fan should go to Louie (he's very tough on her and wants to see her at her full potential), and Lindsey fan should go to holidayroad (c'mon, the Photos thread) BTW, would I ever be remotely considered for the Penguin Award? |

^ and ^^ and ^^^
Silver Springs was one of my award winners, and a prestigious award it was. Add about 2 bucks to it, and she can purchase a Sunday newspaper along with the honor. She's the newcomer of the year, a true presence whom you can 'feel' as you read her. And no, I don't mean 'feel' as in touch. I mean, she is complex and touching. Now, make me stop gushing, MissLadyLoki! |

Anyways, would I be remotely eligible for the Penguin Award? |
SuperFleetwood, your expressed appreciation of 'that' animated 'Has anyone else seen this?' video about 'that' rumour about SN could cost you votes amongst her most loyal fans. Your high-def videos are awesome, most definitely! Thank You.
No-one should care, but secretly (no longer a secret) I always think less of Ledgies who believe 'that' rumour, even those whom I otherwise like- I think it reveals more about them, than anything else. It's cynical and ugly and there has never been one shred of evidence, any more than the Rod Stewart or Richard Gere stories. I knew a creepy, uncredible guy who said he was in the emergency room at Cedar's when Gere was there, as if that would make the story true. A lie is a lie. In my opinion, and I feel certain, also, the fact is that it just did not happen. Not the Stevie story, nor the Rod Stewart and Richard Gere stories. It is mean-spirited folklore, and I feel that way for reasons beyond believing SN when she says that it didn't happen. I was in LA in the 80's when that story began circulating, I knew it was bullsh*t then, and I know it, now. A girl drunk off her ass told me the story, she heard it at The Rainbow on Sunset, from an equally blitzed guy. The myth is a hurtful thorn in SN's side, and that isn't funny, in my opinion. |

I don't think its really hurting her, I kind of see it as a little joke, kind of like South Park portrays her as a goat. I make fun of the people I love so much its not even funny, but its all lighthearted, not meant in a mean spirted way you know? |
Maybe this thread should be merged with the Appreciation thread?

She has said how much the story bothers her, more than once. |

Does anybody out there know why Lindsey wasn't depicted in the episode? Was it to do with his abscence? Was he in it and I'm just blind lol. |

They do show the other 4 members of Fleetwood Mac with "Stevie" singing something that sounds like EO17 at the end though  |
^^TerraRhiannon, I don't think she has ever commented about the South Park episode. Anyone who knows that she did comment, please share it. Terra, I am not saying you are lying, maybe you heard it somewhere, so please don't take offense. I just never heard a word from her about it.
The timing was bad for her, I think, to appreciate the parody that South Park did. "TISL" was a new or recent release, she was proud of it, and having her singing mocked wasn't a way for any young people who saw the episode to feel it was 'cool' to buy the new cd. It definitely did not help TISL. I'm not saying the 'South Park' episode was humorous or not humorous, I am just saying that to my knowledge, SN never commented about it. |

Memory just kicked in, such as it is. TISL was released in May, 2001, and the South Park episode aired in September, 2001. So, the sales likely weren't affected much by the 'goat voice' comparison but I don't think it helped her a bit, either. She didn't get the multiple Grammy nominations she hoped for, just one. Her nomination was for Best Rock Vocal for 'Planets Of The Universe', I believe. She didn't win. Maybe Grammy voters were influenced by the goat parody, or not. It didn't help. I thought she deserved that Grammy.

Sorry, Meowi.
Meowi, it only just now occured to me that I have written too much in a thread that you originated in which I went off on tangents that had nothing to do with your idea.
I am sorry. I will refrain from doing so, exactly now, should you wish to continue with your original idea. I hope that I didn't ruin your thread for you. Please take the control you deserve of this thread and of your idea back, or start a new thread. Either way, I'll stay the ef out of it. Honestly. |
