FINALS: Favorite Lindsey Song

Here are the finals for Favorite Lindsey song. The song that wins will be Lindsey's only song to be eligible for the Favorite song nominations.

Go Your Own Way, Tusk, and Tango in the Night.

Silver Springs will again be the Tiebreaker/arbiter.

The battle ends in 4 days.

WHY CAN'T I CHOOSE ALL THREE. :(

I suppose I'll choose GYOW, since it's the first song that really got me into FM. Driving everywhere with it on repeat...YOU CAN GO YOUR OWN WAAAAYYYYYYY :o

Because that would defeat the purpose of the poll, despite how tempting it may be lol.

Go your own Way........God that was hard:distress:

Mick

CreepingDeath 12-09-2010 08:09 PM

Tangoooooooooooooo!

MissLadyLoki 12-10-2010 09:10 AM

Go Your Own Way cause it was the first FM song I ever heard

vivfox 12-10-2010 09:44 PM

TUSK, because as a die hard fan this song really took me by suprise the first time I heard it back in 1979. Lindsey would have been proud if he had seen my jaw dropping expression as I was expecting the song closest to the resemblance of Rumours Two.

TerraRhiannon 12-10-2010 11:36 PM

Go Your Own Way, a true rock anthem. True it's over played but that doesn't take away from it's undeniably well conducted body & catchy as hell tune.

BaronVonBielski 12-11-2010 02:56 AM

Although Tango In The Night is an awesome song, how could I not vote for Go Your Own Way??? It's the quintessential Lindsey Buckingham song.

AliceLover 12-11-2010 03:00 AM

"shut Your Mouth Talk About Tusssssssk!"

This. And along with The Chain, it's probably the only FM song I haven't even once gotten a tiny bit sick of.

Silver Springs 12-11-2010 11:18 AM

Poor Tango. Poor poor Tango *sniffle*. But way to go your own way :p

jellyman10 12-12-2010 09:19 AM

Yup, GYOW for me too. The best thing he ever wrote, in my opinion, and really, it's got it all - great lyric/sentiment; great solo; those driving drums.

I only wish sometimes that it wasn't held up as mainly a kiss-off song, cos it strikes me as much more than that.

Thats the reason I voted for Tusk. I'd say THAT is the quintessential Lindsey Buckingham song.

Otherwise I would have voted for I Know I'm Not Wrong, which I think is the best FM song he has written.

Third would have been Go Your Own Way, which, by the way, is the best timeless radiosingle ever, in my book.

KarmaContestant 12-13-2010 12:18 PM

I thought the songs were oddly paired for this poll....which made it hard to choose. I went with Tango In The Night, though I'm not really sure why. It's a little dark and creepy, and I guess that part of it appeals to me more than the other songs.

MacShadowsBall 12-13-2010 12:34 PM

I'm just surprised at how well "Tango in the Night" has done. It won Favorite Lindsey song from Tango in the Night with 23 votes. It made the top 3 for Lindsey's nominations and now its here with 9 votes. I like the song, as much as I can like one of Lindsey's songs! :p

MacShadowsBall 12-13-2010 05:26 PM

The poll closes in 2 hours. I voted for "Go Your Own Way".

Silver Springs 12-13-2010 05:31 PM

Seeing as it's a foregone conclusion, I just spent my vote wisely on Tango In The Night :D

MacShadowsBall 12-13-2010 05:36 PM

I'm gonna double check this, but I think 42 votes for one song is the most a song has gotten during this battle. This song might just win the whole thing!

I'm starting to suspect that too. It's evident that it's a well loved song. I wouldn't be shocked at all if it did win :)

MacShadowsBall 12-13-2010 06:07 PM

Just a few stats here, more on the sticky thread, but...

Go Your Own Way appears to have thus far, here, received the most votes. "Gypsy" for the Favorite Mirage song battle won with 36. Get this, "The Chain" won Favorite Rumours song with just 21 votes, followed by "Go Your Own Way" with 12 votes.

I agree that Tusk represents quintessential LB. Plus it is a pretty unique song.

However i think GYOW is the best LB/FM song, period - so that's where my vote goes. It is also typical Lindsey as far as being inspired by and expressing anger/hurt/agression.

While i like IKINW, i don't think it's that special or different from everything else out there. What Makes You Think I'm The One, now that is again quintessential LB of the past - anger/agression (lots of it!) plus a hefty dose of self-centeredness!

mezzoforte 12-13-2010 06:56 PM

Tusk! It's so fantastically trippy.

TerraRhiannon 12-13-2010 07:00 PM

The drums of the song Tusk reminds me of some African drumming and people dancing around a fire passing some weed, I dunno. I love the song itself tho. :)

I think the whole tribal err is something that Lindsey was going for with his work :). I think. Obviously I'm not him so I can't say for sure lol.

That could be!! I think I read somewhere that Mick was inspired by African drumming somewhere...I wouldn't be able to find it now just take my word for it! So their tribal inspirations together is probably what produced Tusk!

Funk, african drumming, and slightly psychedelic pop-rock in perfect harmony!

:) yeah, Mick should probably get some of the credit for Tusk - plus the idea about adding the marching band came from him.

Yes, it's something that runs throughout the Tusk album and is not even confined to only Lindsey's song. Honey Hi has a taste of that going on too.
