Blue Denim- official video
I never knew this existed until today
|
Wow, never seen that before either. Thanx for posting it, Viv.
I think she was really gorgeous during the Street Angel thing  |
You people don't have Crystal Visions?

I still remember this video when it came out. I was so shocked by Stevie's appearance... the big hair... she just looked like she'd fallen off her rocker . Nowadays, I look at this video and think how fantastic she looks here.
And some trivia for the younger kiddies around here... the guitar player wearing red is Mr Rick Vito... one of Lindsey's replacements in Fleetwood Mac. The backup singer on the far right is Ms Sara Fleetwood... ex wife of Mick Fleetwood, longtime friend, and sometimes roommate of Stevie's. |

Sounds good...
Looks good too. |
Radio Shack had a promotional laser disc
that featured this video on it. I had to have a talk with the manager about it. |
That video was a huge hit in the gay clubs in Dallas in the second half of 1994! I used to just geek out when Eric & I would walk into J.R.'s for a beer, and that guitar would start blaring and then we'd see Stevie on dozens of monitors throughout the bar!!!
They played that video all through to New Year's Eve! |
i think she looks pretty good in this video despite this being quoted as "the worst she ever looked.." not neccessarily this video..but at this time..1994...BUT u can clearly see the difference in her expression and her overall performance...still..great video..mediocre song...never really cared for it

It took a bit for this song to grow on me. But now I enjoy it very much. :)

The video just like the whole Street Angel album was ignored by both MTV and VH1 in 1994. I don't believe the Blue Denim video aired even once (I didn't even know it existed until 5 yrs. later). Stevie and Modern really dropped the ball on promotion for SA, I only recall a smattering of promotional interview clips in various magazines at the time of it's release as well as the Letterman and Leno TV appearances. Maybe Love did received decent adult contemporary airplay during the early summer. But If it wasn't for the success of "The Dance" and then the "Enchanted" box set and tour, Street Angel would have never gone gold.
|
Supposedly, Stevie did a video for "Unconditional Love" in 1993 ~ the pic in Enchanted with the candle and mirrors. Supposedly.
Now, in Summer 1994, the infamous Bill Gamelson told me that Stevie definitely did do a video for "Unconditional Love" and also "Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind". I tend to believe Bill, despite his history, because he knew so much inside Stevie information that no one seemed to know. At a record show in Houston in Late 1993, Bill told me that Stevie was in rehab and that's why Street Angel was pushed into 1994. I didn't believe him at the time, but in 1998, Stevie herself confirmed it when she went public with her Klonopin addiction and her detox and rehab in Late 1993. So, that's why I give credence to his claim that those two videos were filmed. Who knows? |
It does make sense that promotion for Street Angel would have involved a video for the 1st single, esp. back in 1994 when it was pretty much a given. That's why it was bewildering that a video never aired or was mentioned for Maybe Love:confused: Looking back at the whole Street Angel fiasco, I think it was total chaos, They didn't even know what the 1st single was going to be, 1st it was Unconditional Love, then Blue Denim, and last minute it was Maybe Love... because of the 11th hour shake up of the album's line up and production changes. Also to try and make sense of it all you have to consider that during this time Stevie was slum dogging it with Chris Nicks as her creative director and Glen Parrish as her manager. No wonder Street Angel was blinded by the light of the day...It was a nightmare at the get go and total amateur hour for someone of Stevie's stature :(.
|
Plus it didn't help things that Stevie and the original producer, Glyn Johns did NOT get along with each other at all. I don't know if he was pushed on her to produce or if she wanted him because of his work with the Eagles. Oh man, Stevie was taking alot of bad advice at the time. Didn't help that she was not thinking clearly.
|
At least after detox, Stevie was thinking clearly. Bringing in Thom Panunzio and Roy Bittan to re-record "Jane" and "Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind", as well as remixing the whole album and adding more overdubbed instruments, enhanced the album greatly.
Those weak, limp mixes that Glyn Johns turned in in February 1993 sound like sparse demos from 1973. Stevie made the right move in trying to beef up Street Angel's sound! |

at the end of an Entertainment Tonight show. I guess I'm in the minority, but I think she looks really bad in that video. Her weight at the time, the hair and even the curtain clothes. Compare her looks from the Blue Denim video with The Soundstage Live In Chicago DVD. She had an amazing turn around in those fifteen years. |

Blue Denim- official video
This video was recorded at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee. I was at the show in the third row. She performed the song three times and took some songs out of the set that night. She had a little diva fit because someone on the camera crew was taking a long time to reload the camera.

"Travis" posted a remix version of this video, using an alternate mix of the track, a few months ago. It was excellent - better than the original! Unfortunately it seems the video was taken down. Here's the thread:

"Destiny" is 30 seconds shorter on the original mix, ugh. And the drums sound cheap. "Street Angel" is improved with Waddy's eerie 1994 guitar. "Blue Denim" wakes up and ROCKS in its album version mix (and even MORE in the Single Remix)!!! That flaccid original mix is sad. "Rose Garden" ~ I like the one little extra "Oh no" on the original/Enchanted mix, but prefer the music on the real Street Angel with the added guitars and fuller sound. Stevie & Co. did a LOT to improve Street Angel, JIMO! |
|
Okay all these versions is confusing the hell out of me! I prefer the mix from the crystal visions DVD of Blue denim, whatever mix that is or was. When I got the street angel cd, I was like, "This version is awful, its missing too much, don't have that extra umph!
|
The music for the video of "Blue Denim" is the Single Remix, remixed by Chris Lord-Alge, on promo CD-single. Very different, huh? And MUCH better!!!
|
:s I'm starting to understand why people keep accusing her of singing through her nose in her latter years. I suppose it must have alot to do with the hole in her septum, as well as the strain she's put her voice through with her pitch straining renditions of Rhiannon.

http://www.ladyobama.com/wp-content/...ty-540x406.jpg The only Stevie I'd known before that was the photos I'd had on Rumours and Bella Donna... and the archival footage from the Disney Fleetwood Mac: Going Home documentary (which Stevie did vocal, not camera commentary for). It was like the big mystery to me at the time what "modern" Stevie looked like. Looking back now, I think she looks great. At the time, her appearance was pretty sobering. http://www.buckinghamnicks.net/sn/im...cksJan1995.jpg |

Louie, I'm curious to what changed your mind about her appearance? It makes me sad to look at her during that time period. |
