Random Stevie Thoughts

I'm always having these random thoughts about Stevie that I want to share with you guys so I'm starting a thread for it since none exists. Kind of like the " Just Thought I'd Share" thread in the Chit-Chat forum but this one will be Stevie-related. So if you have something Stevie related you just want to share or ask and there's no thread for it post it here! :)

Here's mine for the day: I'm really pissed at myself! Back in the beginning of 2009 I was in a Stevie/FM lull but of course I was still going to the shows when they announced the dates for Unleashed. I bought tickets to Anaheim and Los Angeles. Well by the time the shows rolled around I was still stuck in a lull but went to the shows anyway. I thought I'd me more excited as the shows grew closer and I did a little but not much. Well to make a long story short I had 3rd row seats in Anaheim and 5th row seats in Los Angeles (and paid a bundle!) but for some stupid reason I decided to leave before Silver Springs (the encore) to avoid the crowds and get the heck out of the arenas. The thing is I knew before-hand SS was the encore yet I still chose to leave BOTH TIMES! How dumb was that? I would die right now to see FM do SS live (although I have seen it before)! I just can't figure out what could have been going through my mind at the tine . I would never do that today . At the time I thought it was worth it to go just for Storms but to this day I still regret my horrible decision to leave before Silver Springs. JTIS.

When I was really young (around 8 or 9) I thought Stevie was pretty but that she'd be so much prettier if she had blue eyes .

I thought the same thing. The older I've gotten, I've really learned to appreciate brown eyes though. You really have to spend time exploring brown eyes since they're so dark... which I think is cool. They tend to be more veiled and intense... which I like.

I think they would wash her out a little if she did. She's more of an earth tone kind of gal, I think. I just wish she'd wear more colours than her traditional black these days. I would love her to resurrect her Maroon outfits with her gorgeous shawls. Maybe throw in some leaf greens and browns. But maybe I'm biased because they're my favourite colours to wear too lol.

Me too! Now I couldn't imagine her with blue eyes. Someone should photoshop a shot though, I'd be curious what she'd look like...

A lot of folks like to scurry out of the arenas before the encores to beat the traffic. I've never been one of them. I let everybody leave and I wander around for a while and I'm usually the last one to leave the arena. I enjoy watching the crew take apart the stage and how fast they can do it.

I know right and that's what I usually do but for some reason I was just a fool! I also enjoy watching the drunk people stagger out of their seats to the parking lot rambling about the show lol.

Sometimes, during random moments of the day, I will catch myself wondering what type of fabulous thing Stevie is doing. This usually happens during my mundane job!

Noooooooo.....Stevie's brown eyes are one of her finest features! I cannot even fathom thinking of her with blue eyes  Her doe eyed brown eyes are so full of expression and mystery. I use to marvel at her beautiful soulful brown eyes when her HBO in concert would air back in the early 80's. I was hypnotized.

I find myself singing along to Stevie songs in my head at the worst moments; such as in class or during a lecture, and then wondering what on earth the teacher is on about.

sorcerer999 11-18-2010 02:11 AM

As much as I love Silver Springs, the band (and Stevie) really haven't done it justice since the Dance tour. On the Unleashed tour here in Nashville, she didn't hit any of the high notes (which we know she can easily hit), and she didn't make the ending memorable at all. In fact, during the "follow you down/never get away" part, she and Lindsey didn't even look at each other. I found myself wishing I actually had left the arena early. Apparently, according to other Stevie fans I correspond with in different cities, Silver Springs was lackluster in other venues as well. You might have done yourself a favor.

How does Stevie not fall on her ass after twirling?!

I have always wondered this too!!

I always find myself thinking obscure things throughout the day about Stevie. What she's doing, what she did on the tour bus on the Mirage tour, what she ate for dinner on her 40th birthday

UndoingTheLaces 11-18-2010 06:33 PM

Shortly after I moved to LA in 99 Stevie did a series of shows at the House of Blues. I wanted to go but for whatever reason, money, time, whatever, I didn't go. I've seen her and the Mac several times over the years but have never had good seats, I was always way far away from the stage. Now that I've seen several shows at the HOB I'm just kicking myself. If my seat was at the very back of the house I would still have had a better seat then I ever have. Sigh.

Possibly something with straws and rectums.

I've listened to the song Rock a Little on repeat today all the way to school - a 40 min drive? Got me wondering who Lily is.

Christopher 11-18-2010 07:14 PM

Lily is STevie.

I think she said it was her dad's nickname for her.

Aww that sucks! To think I live 10 minutes from the House of Blues she did those shows at but was just not a big enough fan YET to have any interest and I probably didn't even know she was playing there since I wasn't in the loop then. Oh how I would die to see her there today! Guess I'll have to live vicariously through my live recordings :(.

SapphireSister 11-18-2010 08:31 PM

I spent 2 hours today organizing a playlist on my iPod for Stevie demos (labeling, etc.). A good use of time I'd say!

It was at those concerts that she promised the fans that on her next tour she would perform all new songs.

Well, to give Stevie some credit she did perform 6 new songs from TISL on the 2001 tour.;)

If she performed that many new songs on this next tour from the yet un-named album, do you think it would energize her base of "tired set-list" grumblers to go see her live in 2011?

Meowi 11-19-2010 08:18 AM

Too be honest with you, I don't really listen to Stevie/Mac that much - because I have actually devoured every album. It's so hard to explain, but I know some people can get really stressed if they can't listen to Stevie/Mac.

I wonder if Stevie has any tattoos?

Me too  I love to spend as much time as possible at the venue, before and after the show, even if it is the bloody O2 in Dublin!

I've been having lots of random Stevie thoughts ... the one for today is how dynamic the lyrics to Fall From Grace are, even without the rock and roll music. I think it's pretty unique in Stevie's catalogue both musically and lyrically. I had reasons for this which I've now forgotten ... will post them later.

SapphireSister 11-20-2010 06:02 PM

I was just listening to All the Beautiful Worlds and had a fantasy that I recorded it, it became a hit, and me and Stevie were performing it live on the Ellen Degeneres show. I know, I have a vivid imagination :blob1:.

Hope you don't mind if I offer a correction? I've read and heard SN say a few times that she and Robin both loved the movie 'Julia', which is about a friendship between the playwright Lilian Hellman and a woman called Julia (duh).

Anyway, Lilian was the selfish, visionary artist and Julia the one who wanted home and hearth and kids, etc etc. (Can you guess who identified with whom in this scenario??)

So anyway, yeh, Stevie is Lily - and Lily is short for Lilian (Hellman).

Loz

Stevie should start wearing Purple again on stage. It's such a flattering and sexy colour.

Also, more white! She looks lovely whenever she wears white. Want more.

SapphireSister 11-22-2010 01:31 PM

I've been hesitant about posting this but here it goes:
The woman is a witch, I'm convinced. I'm not trying to start rumors or re-hash something that has been re-hashed way too many times but 2 weeks ago I heard from a very reliable/non-biased source that she currently practices wicca. This is not to say she casts spells on people and rides through the night on a broomstick but she does adhere to some of the ancient practices and to be honest I don't see what the big deal is. Is it really that difficult to accept? So many people today consider themselves "spiritual" so to me this just happens to be one of Stevie's many froms of spirituality. Although I don't know to what extent she actually practices I really have no problem with it. I also don't know enough about it to judge but it seems to me wicca in general has such a negative connotation when in reality people don't even know enough about it to judge. So I say to Stevie, "Don't deny it girlfriend, embrace it and educate people. Be a witch and be proud!".

Agreed! She denies is for the same reason "Bella Donna" isn't "Belladonna". Her managers and her people let Stevie be Stevie, but there are parts of Stevie that the press would really eat up and it would not look good for her. Everyone was going ape **** over Christine O'Donnell saying she dabbled in witchcraft. She was dubbed "the crazy witch" and completely discredited because of it. Now I loathed Christine for her political views and some of the ignorant things that have flown out of her mouth, but her dabbling in witchcraft never struck me as odd or discrediting. But that is how the mass population sees it. For Stevie Nicks to admit that she is even wiccan back in the day would make everyone's preconceived notions of her to be true, and therefore they could deem her a loon. You cannot reason with 95% of the population.

TerraRhiannon 11-22-2010 02:19 PM

I don't think Stevie is Wiccan because she has never been one to be ashamed of who she is/what she's done.. besides the drug addictions perhaps. She has said she isnt wiccan, so that's enough for me to respect that. Plus, she has sang about Jesus and has worn crosses. I don't know anything about wicca, so maybe they do wear crosses, who knows. I just know that she probably wouldn't deny it. She said it came from the song 'Rhiannon' and wearing black. She got so upset that people were calling her a witch that she got scared and wouldn't wear her beautiful black clothes anymore that she had bought. She's probably being truthful about her feelings. and we all must know that story by now.

I believe you, Steve's.

baboles 11-22-2010 02:53 PM

Throughout the day, I replay live versions (1981-1986) of "Stand Back," "Sara," "I Need to Know," "How Still My Love," "Outside the Rain," and "Dreams" inside my head/thoughts. It gets me through the day.

SapphireSister 11-22-2010 09:52 PM

When you hear a mention of a year regarding something totally non-Stevie related and you think to yourself what Stevie was doing at that time you know you're just slightly obsessed .
"In 1994 so and so was assasinated". Hmm Street Angel time.

Hahaha, I do that too

fringed n fab 11-23-2010 01:48 AM

I don't think she is a witch. I think she's a spiritual person yes. But witch, no. I think she just loved writing songs about such and wearing the pretty clothes. I even like dressing like that sometimes.

Me too!! Two big ones for me are 1977 and 1997. Whenever I hear those two years I automatically think RUMOURS! & THE DANCE. Sometimes I say it under my breath and people are like What? The Dance?
