Who Will See / Not See Lindsey Live in 2011?

There is a similar thread on Stevie's board, so I'm stealing the idea: if Lindsey tours behind the new solo album next year, are you planning to go see him?

(I've never seen FM or Lindsey solo live, and definitely plan to go see him if he performs anywhere near / within reasonable driving distance of DC. Also, if I had a choice to see Lindsey solo tour or FM tour, my preference would be Lindsey solo.)

holidayroad 11-10-2010 07:09 PM

Of course, I would absolutely LOVE to see Lindsey solo!! I have seen him with FM twice. There could never be enough times!

bucklind17 11-10-2010 07:10 PM

I will definitely go see him. I am personally MUCH more excited about the idea of Lindsey touring solo than I am about whole band touring and that's mostly because of venue size/intimacy. I had two great experiences with his solo tour in 2008, so good that I almost feel spoiled and like nothing will ever match them. When I saw the Mac a few months later, I just felt like "but a few months ago, I paid so much less to be so much more a part of the action." Granted, after THAT, I went to see the Mac again and ended up in the front row on Lindsey's side, but what was so great about that was being so close and a part of the music. Which is my favorite part of his/Mac shows, when possible. So long story short, yes, definitely.

Silver Springs 11-10-2010 07:11 PM

If he ends up in England, no matter where, there are only two words that spring to mind: HELL and YES! I have this ambition to grab his butt, as I did at my first R.E.M. concert with Michael Stipe. It would be amazing to add him to my list of mind blowing moments :) That and his music is fantabulous. I've had his playlist on my iPod on repeat all day while I was painting. So good.

Yeah, venue size is one of the reasons why I'd prefer Lindsey solo.

Have a follow-up question, for you - or anybody else - who has seen him both solo and with FM: comparing videos from recent FM tours vs solo tours, seems that LB is much more animated performer when with FM. Is that really the case or it just happened at specific concerts b/c they were recording (Soundstage, Bass)?

I think it is safe to say he puts on a little bit more of a "show" with FM. Not to say he's not animated or energetic solo, but I found him a bit "bigger", which probably is partially because he's playing to a much larger crowd (I saw FM at Madison Square Garden) and also because he probably is trying to give a little something to match Stevie's show. Things like "Oh Well" and "Never Going Back Again" are practically choreographed at this point. But, when he's solo, I think he's just a little more genuine in his energy, he knows the people are there because they want to see him, and he still gets a dramatic with things like the "Come" solo or "Shut Us Down", he still has those fits of awesome after songs, but it feels more real and not like he's doing it because people are expecting a show.

vivfox 11-10-2010 08:28 PM

I've seen Lindsey on all of his solo tours and I will see him again if he comes round my way.

mylittledemon 11-10-2010 08:30 PM

I'd like to. His GoS show I went to was stellar. Except for the drunken cowgirl debacle. I probably won't be Stateside though... So I probably won't see him.

Jealous :(

Only seen him once with The Mac.

MacMan 11-10-2010 08:44 PM

Depends on when and where he's playing... But yeah, I'd see him in a heartbeat... Saw him in Vancouver in '06 & was blown away... The sound in the smaller venue was outstanding! Loved it!

Me, too, so I'm definitely going! I want to see his solo show soooo bad :blob1: Oh, and I'll definitely go to FM show as well...I wouldn't miss it.

I'm hoping he does Vancouver again, as well as Seattle, so maybe I could go to both!

MissLadyLoki 11-10-2010 08:55 PM

I saw the Mac once last year, loved it, and would definitely see Bucky solo. I've caught Live at the Bass Performance Hall on TV (for you New York folks, it was on MSG when the Knicks and Rangers weren't playing, aka the summer) and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

It seems a lot more personal solo and not just because of the smaller venue. It seems that Lindsey is listening more to the audience, noticing and interacting. At several parts of the show, it's almost a conversation.

I'm going to kinda play it by ear. If he is playing in the city or somewhere on Long Island, I'd probably go if I can get good seats. If the buzz is any good, and he's playing somewhere convenient on a weekend night, I'd probably travel within a reasonable distance. I guess the only thing holding me back are those gosh dang Lindsey fans- they're so annoying. :p

daniellaaarisen 11-10-2010 11:18 PM

If he's anywhere north of San Francicso, I'm there.

louielouie2000 11-11-2010 12:10 AM

If I see no other show next year, I'll see Lindsey's. I've made excuses for far too long.

night-rider 11-11-2010 02:52 AM

Oh my goodness, definitely! I'm a student at Berklee College of Music, and I was looking on the photo thread and there was a picture from '08 when he came here...unfortunately I wasn't at school! :( I hope he comes back...both of the small recital halls (David Friend and the Red Room at 939) have great sound and are so intimate...and the guitar players (all 10,000 it seems ) would love it!

shackin'up 11-11-2010 05:14 AM

I flew over from the Netherlands for 4 lindsey-GoS-shows in oct. '08. It was worth every friggin penny and a lot more. But that was a lifetime fullfilling experience, I won't do that again next year. BTW, you don't need "good seats" for a Lindseyshow. All the seats in those small venues are awesome, and the costs of a ticket are almost laughable compared to FM.

Every american who does NOT go to a Lindseyshow is out of his or her mind. There are no excuses, if you like music, this is what you need to see.

jellyman10 11-11-2010 06:56 AM

Can't see him doing any dates in Europe, so probably not. I would go, though, if he was anywhere in the UK. Maybe he'll do the 'Later' show with Jools Holland on BBC.

Jools had Neil Diamond, Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello (and Sheryl Crow) on the other week - IN THE SAME SHOW - and Alice Cooper was in the audience, so it's definitely the sort of thing LB could do to just push his album a wee bit, and might be the nearest we get to an actual gig (everybody plays live on that show, so LB would kill, I'm sure ...).

But basically, both LB and SN don't really seem to raise their sights beyond North America, for touring. Mind you, Stevie might be persuaded by 'all four Beatles rolled into one', Dave!

Same here. I went in '08 and would love to go again but I can't afford it again. If he comes to Europe/UK then I'll do my best to hit as many shows as I can afford.

GoS 11-11-2010 07:28 AM

Even if I have to sell all of my possessions. Even if I have to miss a week of school. Even if it's in Cleveland again. I am definitely going.

If he does play on the Island he better not, for the love of all things holy, play at that theater in Westbury. I saw a Led Zeppelin cover band there and it was rinky dink, the acoustics were horrible, and the place seemed to be on it's last leg. I'd rather see him at some club than there!

Isn't it called the North Fork Theatre, or something like that? I've never been there, but I remember seeing adverts for it in the Village Voice back when it was the Westbury Music Fair. Linda Ronstadt played there not too long ago, and I will regret to my dying day that I didn't go see her (since I hear that her health has deteriorated :distress: ). Does it still have a stage "in the round" that revolves slowly throughout the show? I once saw a concert like this (Yes), and I thought it was a hoot, if not stomach-churning.

TrueFaith77 11-11-2010 10:52 AM

I trust he'll make it to NYC. And I wouldn't miss that show for the world. If he goes to Milwaukee, I'll see that too and bring my mom! :blob2:

#1LiddyBuckFan 11-11-2010 11:05 AM

I will go to as many as I can! I love seeing Fleetwood Mac live but Lindsey's shows are so great! I will be very excited if he decides to go out on the road!! :blob2:

Wait...WHAT?!

France's too far away.

Sahara 11-11-2010 04:18 PM

I'll do everything I possibly can to be there. I'd dearly love a UK/Europe tour but if I can make it to the States, I will.
I'm unbearably excited:D

I think that's exactly what it's called now.
Lindsey DID play it last time round (maybe the second leg of his tour? I can't quite remember). It wasn't that bad a venue. They actually put up curtains or barriers or something, if I recall correctly, to make it smaller for him (obviously, not a sell-out performance). So, it was more of a half-round. This was the one where he smashed his guitar (the only lowlight for me but...I think a lot of people got a kick out of it).
Uh...oh, yeah. I don't mind the theater. I hate traveling to Long Island. It's such a pain in the butt for me, with connections to trains and all that jazz that, most of the time, it's easier to go to another state.
But, yeah. If he's on the east coast, I'll be there.

sodascouts 11-20-2010 04:44 PM

Hell yes, even if I have to do another one of my marathon drives.

bikerchic 11-20-2010 05:02 PM

Absolutely! If he comes to Toronto.

It's called the NYCB Theater at Westbury now, and do not ask me what NYCB stands for, it's some bank.

I think it does, but when I saw that show there, it was a half-stage with a curtain closing part of it since it wasn't a rotating stage. All I know is that if I wanna see somebody at a venue that isn't the Garden, Jones Beach, or the Coliseum, it's not gonna be there anytime soon.

Regina, where are you from? I from LI myself, and to get to Manhattan, I just hop on the LIRR at Ronkonkoma and take it from there. For other places, it's all about driving (and not mixing up major roads when you and your now-former boyfriend wanted to spend an evening at Jones Beach, and if you wanna know about it PM me), but if you're not from there, I can understand you hating the driving around there (crazy people, lights that seem to wanna make you late, crazy people, confusing roads, and I almost forgot, crazy people :D)

BTW, does a vid exist of Lindsey smashing his guitar? Why did he smash his guitar?

I'm with you - would LOVE to see LB solo. My challenge is to convince hubby to fly across the pond with me as I doubt LB will solo in UK. Fortunately hubby does love FM - we saw them in Manchester during their UK leg of Unleashed. However although he does like LB (he plays his albums in the car as well as the FM ones), I am the real Bucky Nut. How I envy all you Bucky Nuts who live in the USA - so much easier for you to see him solo!

Twice??! I hope you don't mind me asking, but what's the trick to that...seriosly. Were you actually seated in the front row, or did you work your way up front? I need to know for when I see him in 2011 :D Any advice from those that have been before would be greatly appreciated! Also, does anyone know how early he arrives before a show? I'd love to meet him, as I've seen some have done in the past.

It is really a combination of luck and money. I started looking immediately as soon as I knew he was coming to Nashville and Knoxville. Then, I looked on every tickets site, and when I found them I coughed up the money.

I saw them in Manchester too! Was a great gig. Ooo! if you do fly across the pond to see him, can you pick me up on the way and take me with you lol?

LukeA 12-05-2010 11:21 PM

Just glossing over this thread... first of all, no way in hell is Lindsey playing Westbury Music Fair. It would be cool if Lindsey played Long Island- hell, I'd consider flying in for a gig in Amagansett, NY at Stephen's Talkhouse (Dave Mason plays there a ton). I think there's a smaller theater-like venue at SUNY Stony Brook that he could hit if he played Long Island, but I'm inclined to think he'd skip LI altogether.

CreepingDeath 12-06-2010 02:31 AM

Maybe if he comes to Las Vegas. I won't travel, though.

Westbury Music Fair is now called the NYCB Theater at Westbury, but either way, I'd be thankful if he didn't play there. As for playing in Amagansett, you'll get the rich people from the Hamptons, but most of us don't really wanna travel out that far on narrow roads to see Bucky.

As for Stony Brook (no one calls it SUNY Stony Brook, we all call it Stony Brook University), there is the Staller Center and it has a very big theater, but I doubt he'd play there.

I'd just be thankful if he played at whatever became of the Nokia Theater (I heard on the radio once it's now the Best Buy Theater) or maybe even the Beacon.
