I voted for You and I Part II, though I sorely wish I could have voted for them all. I realise this sort of defeats the purpose of a poll, but I just adore his songs on the album. Tough choice.

TerraRhiannon 11-08-2010 05:40 PM

Hahaha. I voted for Caroline <3

I have a funny confession. Big Love Used to scare the living **** out of me. Especially the version on The Dance.

The whole sound and atmosphere of it, I would always leave the room until it was over when I watched The Dance, back when I couldn't fast forward on my DVD player. Ahh

Tough choice between Caroline and Tangooooooooo but I had to go with the dust fury on the mountain top

I found the atmosphere in the Big Love video which is rather spooky and jarring at the very end when Lindsey whips his head around to look directly into the camera.

Big big luuuuuuuurvvve.

what a classic, both live and on record

Though I love Caroline, I chose the title track. I think it's got my fav guitar solo of all time. Such a mystical, beautiful, yet harder edged song. I so wish Lindsey would perform this one live sometime (with or without the Mac), I can just imagine how awesome it would be!

I would love if he'd replace I'm So Afraid or Go Your Own Way with Tango. Those other two lost my interest many, many moons ago.

Tango. Great tune! Big Love is a close 2nd, but of course I prefer The Dance version.

Then I remember
When the moon was full and bright
I would take you in the darkness
And do the tango in the night
Tango!

HejiraNYC 11-09-2010 04:51 PM

I love the way "Tango in the Night" transitions from a straight-up 4/4 time signature to a 4/8 tango time signature for the bridge and chorus. But it's not just any tango... it's a dark, sadistic, menacing tango- the kind in which the rose clenched between your teeth is full of thorns. It conjures up images of ashen figures tangoing in robotic synchrony under a moonlit sky. Spooky!

Wow, I'm kinda surprised about "Big Love" not doing so well. Would it not winning be considered an "upset"?

I was surprised at first myself, but then I realized that just cause something is commercially successful doesn't automatically mean it's good (see Metallica's Black Album)

Big love!

Not really a fan of the others. Family Man in particular is dreadful.

jellyman10 11-09-2010 06:41 PM

Has to be 'Tango' for me. It's the only LB song on the album that's strong enough, to my 2010 ears, to take his melodramatic 80s production and not sound risible.
