Stevie's Best Lyrics

As opposed to the other thread.

Whats your favorite lyric?

LiquidDiamonds 10-29-2010 07:49 AM

This is the most obvious, but this verse is killer.

"And the days go by
Like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own
I begin again"

Time Cast A Spell On You But You Won't Forget Me
I Know I Could Have Loved You But You Would Not Let Me
I'll Follow You Down 'til The Sound Of My Voice Will Haunt You
You'll Never Get Away From The Sound Of The Woman That Loves You

MissLadyLoki 10-29-2010 08:58 AM

I nominate all of Storms. Her best lyrics IMO.

How'd I guess that would be yours? That's my all time favorite song in the world.

But Im gonna pick some wild heart lyrics:)

Fire on fire, rain on my face
Fever goes higher, what can you do
Wild in the darkest places of your mind
That's where I needed you

Haha. It is a little predictable :p I do have other favourites though.

"Poet
Priest Of Nothing
Legend"

"I have no fear. I have only love."

"No-one looked as I walked by"

APerfectLie 10-29-2010 10:14 AM

The bright light is lying down
The earth and the sea and the sky
Is at rest with the ocean
And the days go by
They go into the seas that have no shores
Haunted by that same closed door
Looking up at skies on fire
Leaving nothing left of us
To discover

This.

Also:

Love is a word that some entertain; if you find it, you have won the game

How the faces of love have changed, turning the pages; and I have changed, oh but you, you remain ageless

I guess we don't believe
That things could go that far
We all believe in people
That we think believe in God

If I had my life to live over; I would never dream

Have you come to see
That my face is not seen
Ooo...outside my frost covered windows
and just how deep
Do you hold that dream
In your hands each night

Richard B 10-29-2010 10:28 AM

So I close my eyes softly
Til I become that part of the wind
That we all long for sometime

Temptation falls in your path
No hesitation why you ask
You have another waiting at home
And yes she matters to you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you

You love somebody
Save their soul
Tie them to your heaven
Erase their hell

Well it's hard to hide from
Eyes that are all over you
That only some
Make you lose your composure

Something in my heart died last night
Just one more chip off an already broken heart
I think the heart broke long ago
That's when I needed you
When I needed you most

"Don't blame it on me
Blame it on my wild heart"

Those lyrics are what made me a Stevie Nicks lover. Cause all the crazy things I had done in the name of love or other emotion based actions weren't my fault...according to Stevie Nicks. Nope, sorry, can't blame me, gotta "blame it on my wild heart."

"All the Same"

Troddew 10-29-2010 05:28 PM

Step into the velvet of the morning
let yourself lay back within your dreams
take on the situation but not the torment
now you know its not as bad as it seems

and

Track a ghost through the fog

Stevie = Poet!

... in addition to all of the above!...

"In the eye of a storm, when all the light is gone
there is lightning..."

"Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child in my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
...I don't know."

"I've been afraid of changing,
'cause I built my life around you.
But time makes you bolder,
Children get older,
and I'm getting older, too."

"Shatter your illusions of love
Is it over now? Do you know how
to pick up the pieces and go home?"

mitzo 10-30-2010 09:23 AM

I bite my lip, can you send me away? You touch I have no choice, I have to stay...your eyes say yes but you don't say yes...
My love lives in a world of false pleasure and pain.
Am I happy, yes I am. Do I know you love me now, yes I know, all about love...
And so you run toward what you know is wrong.
Was I who was the hourglass and the sands of time like shattering glass went past me like a tunnel to the sea.
I'm trying hard to change and I'm doing the best that I can.

sorcerer999 10-30-2010 10:46 AM

"Just how deep...do you hold that dream...in your hands each night...this time?"

Christopher 10-30-2010 11:25 AM

Besides "Storms" some of my favorites are...

Fire on fire...rain on my face
Fever goes higher...what can you do?
Wild in the darkest places of your mind!
That's where I needed you.

I believe that love is a living thing.
Born into our destinies...
From a single moment of inspiration...
And as it grows it changes your life forever!

Sunflowers and your face fascinate me
You go into the dusty pink day
I come calling unto you
But you run
You're the winner
Long distance winner

You can consume all the beauty in the room, baby
I know you can, I've seen you do it
And it brings up the wind
And it rises around you in pillars of color

And all of The Highwayman- which is like a nice piece of poetry set to music with a lovely melody.

"I believe that love is a living thing born into our destiny from a single moment of inspiration, and as it grows it changes our lives forever."

"Something in my heart died last night. Just one more chip off and already broken heart. I think the heart broke long ago. That's when I needed you...when I needed you most."

"You've left me now and it seasoned my soul, and with every step you take I watch another part of you go. I continue to build the wall. You were so strong I fell to my knees, and I don't think I can handle this at all."

Hearts made of crystal crumble like castles of sand.

sorcerer999 10-30-2010 09:19 PM

"Then go with her...
you know that you want her...
well you could use a dreamer,
somewhere on your side..."

Really, just the whole freakin' song! ;)

silvasprings 10-31-2010 07:42 AM

Sometimes it rages... Rock A Little
Even when it's calm... Still Rock A Little
Just like a sea, I Rock A Little
Some say it was just like me...

UndoingTheLaces 11-02-2010 05:23 PM

"All I ever wanted was to know that you were dreaming"

For anyone who's ever had a great love in their life that they had to walk away from, this lyric always seems to say, "I know you're out there, but I just need to know that you are still vibrant, alive and doing what you want to be doing with your life".

bellagypsy79 11-05-2010 09:22 AM

"I see myself remaining when all of you are gone" ~Battle of the Dragon

Reason: I've had a lot of family members of mine die the past 16 years and one of my biggest fears is living to be very old and not having anyone anymore except my sisters children. So far my life is pretty much like Stevie's... no children, no husband and I'm not even a rock star like her. I am in my early 30's so I know that anything is possible but I don't want a child at 40. (No offense to anyone who has.) I feel and know that I will live a long life and everyone around me will go before I do and that's what is scarry to me is being alone when you're in your 70's and 80's. Somethings may change, but that is why that is my favorite lyric. Because in 1998 when my cousin passed that made 4 people total that year that died on me and I really felt alone and scarred and that was the same year that I got the box set as a graduation present from my mom and when I really listened to "Battle of the Dragon" that's when that lyric sunk into my brain. I was 19 at the time. The feeling still remains within me to this day.

Also this one as well...

"I am dealing with a man/when away from me stays deep inside my heart"
~If Anyone Falls

I don't know what it is about that lyric or that song for that matter but it's so erotic and enchanting that it reminds you of that wild crush on that person that you can't get away from and want to be with every second of the day. Everything about them in fascinating and you can't contain yourself and your heart starts punding everytime you see them. That's love and that's why this song fit the "Wild Heart" album perfectly was because of that attraction, connection, and deep affection for the one you just can't stop kissing or loving. It's just a feeling...

A few:

"Standing...in the doorway
Watching out to sea
Calling out to me
You go...your way
Go on...go on
But you don't forget me
Ooo no...you don't forget me
Oooo no...my lonely one"

"Like a willow I can bend"

"I still look up
When you walk in the room
I've the same wide eyes
They tell the story"

"Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down?
It's only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat...drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost..."

"The stiletto cuts quick, like a whip through the air."

"So rock on, ancient queen
Follow those who pale in your shadow"

"And the summer became the fall
I was not ready for the winter
It makes no difference at all
'Cause I wear boots all summer long"

"Once in a million years a lady like her rises."

"Hold on
The night is coming
And the starling flew for days"

"Intense silence
As she walked in the room
Her black robes trailing
Sister of the moon"
