What kinds of art, crafts, or other creations can you do?

Okay I wanted to show everyone something I've been working on for 3 weeks. It was "inspired" (as Zombie my ledgie sponser reminded me) by an etsy seller. Here's my creation for everyone to see.

I know people have posted artwork before and I'd love to see more but also would be great to see what else Ledgies can do

Ack, I love it!

I get randomly crafty, myself. I should like to learn to knit, but haven't gotten around to that yet. Currently, I'm working on refinishing this awesome china hutch I got on CraigsList for 20 bucks. It started out brown wood, but now it's gloss black.

Once I'm finished painting, I'm going to replace the glass in the doors with some DIY stained glass in a Dark Tower theme. If it turns out how it looks in my head, I will be very pleased indeed. Then it will live in my bedroom and house clothes and junk, because I am too fancy-dancy for a regular dresser.

Okay, I lied - I am not too fancy-dancy for a regular dresser. But my dresser now lives in my kitchen. The hutch was originally going to be painted peacock blue and have the glass swapped out for mirrors, so I could use it as a kitchen pantry, as my kitchen is woefully lacking in the storage space arena. But it wouldn't fit. So now the dresser is acting as extra storage and counterspace, and it will get the peacock blue treatment instead.

After THAT, I have another awesome HUGE dresser that the next door neighbor gave me when she moved out last month that needs refinishing. From the awesome atomic starburst carvings on the doors and the shape of the hardware and legs, I'd guess it's from the 50s. It's been repurposed as a buffet in my dining room.

I sew, and that's basically it ... cosplay mostly, so I occasionally foray into jewellery and prop-making when the costume calls for it, but I'm happiest just working with fabric. I get very excited about it ... maybe too much sometimes!
Here's my latest costume, Ultimecia from the video game Final Fantasy VIII. This costume was the most ambitious I've ever attempted and it won first prize at Eirtakon 2010, an anime and manga convention in Dublin:

It was Stevie who really got me into sewing -- I wanted to get her look, but I couldn't find anything in the shops, so I had to start experimenting with the sewing machine! My grandparents all worked in textiles so maybe it's in my blood. This is what I've just finished, it's some kind of Autumn Rhiannon thing...

The sleeves are silk chiffon and the camera doesn't really do justice to the fabric, the colours are absolutely glorious.

It's a pity I didn't finish and photograph it last week, when my garden looked like this:

http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/s...Image00001.jpg

Now it's all just dead leaves on the ground and bare branches. Oh well, next year ;)

That top costume is truly amazing (at first I thought you had posted a random picture of lady gaga but when I clicked on the pic and got a better LARGER view I realized it was your creation). I bet that took LOTSSS of hard work. It's neat all the different materials and techniques that you used to create it...the whole ensemble with the make up and body paint- WOW!
Of course I love the Stevie Rhiannon inspired top. It's pretty and danty and a picture of someone wearing it in a beautiful garden would have been beautiful like you said. Although a picture of a pretty woman taken by the sky in a haunting garden might be interesting.

I can make a coaster out of popsicle sticks and Elmer's glue. That's about the extent of it.

Well, I'm not very artistic but I am one hell of a gourd statue maker. It was a team effort - I never could have accomplished this on my own.

That's incredibly awesome. I love FF VIII. You picked probably the toughest character to cosplay as too, except for maybe Edea's headgear. Mad props!

She's beautiful! Although it looks like she has a black eye. Poor Stevie.

While I'm not very artsy, I do love building things. Here's a gazebo, I designed and built, next to my pool(it's not quite finished here, but I'm not at home, and that's the only pic in my Photobucket account).

And here's a peek, into my artsy side.

Just switch the hair to black and do a face change and you'd have Snooki.

I like this... Is this your first creation or do you have others?

LittleCharmer 02-01-2011 11:41 PM

Don't know if this counts as artsy, craftsy or creative  but I recorded a cover of Save Me A Place the other week :)

Never built a gazebo but built lots of houses - but takes about 9 people to help.

Finished 4 like this, late last year.

I used to draw...

ALOT when I was younger, so much that my kintergarden teacher had asked my parents to have me 'tested' to see where that 'gift' came from...Which my parent turned down.

In Jr.High I discovered that in craft class I could do leather work very well, designing either coasters, key-chains or belts (With intricate designs using, 'exacto' knives, a rubber mallet and hand-held stamps). That was one craft I had a natural ability to do, and probably could still do it if I felt the urge to do it...Sadly I don't have that urge.

I can also basket weave, ala Cherokee Indian, but I haven't done that in years.

If I were you, start basket-making, drawing, and leather working - if you have a talent, go for it!

I just finished hand sewing my first Teddy bear. He's called Godric and I had the lady mix up the fabric so I could change the colours. It was meant to be all red but I worked it into red and gold because he's Godric the Gryffindor bear. He's also fully jointed and my fingers hurt from using the pliers on the cotterpins haha.

I do do other crafts that aren't Harry Potter related... promise. I'm knitting a cardigan right now.
