Suggestions? Appropriate engravings.

I am buying an ipod for my mom for her birthday. i want to engrave it with a very brief Stevie lyric. I'm having trouble finding an appropriate one. First off, i would prefer the lyric be from a Mac track (although Edge of 17 is likely Mom's fave stevie track). Any ideas?

"It makes no difference at all cause I wear boots all summer long" :p (sorry, that line always makes me laugh)

Maybe you should go with something from Rhiannon, like "She is a cat in the dark and then she is the darkness" or, since your mom's fave is Edge of 17, go with "Just like a white-winged dove"

How about:

"The forgotten chimpanzee"

"Wussamattababy?"

"They may tell you that you hold the world in your hands, but they always give it back"

hestergail 10-16-2010 04:42 AM

"Rock on ancient queen!" is definitely what you should put on it.

TrueFaith77 10-16-2010 09:02 AM

I'm thinking "Rock on ancient queen!" cuz she loves that song, has the tshirt, AND that makes sense to be on an iPod (which she'll also primarily use for exercising -- so that's a good motivational quote!)

BTFLCHLD 10-16-2010 09:14 AM

yep a reference to being 'ancient' is quite motivating. LOLOL

I once had something engraved for my best friend which I got for her 18th birthday which said 'something in you brought out something in me'. I loved this line because it appropriately described mine and my friend's relationship.

'Ask me and I'm there, because I care.'

'Play the way you feel it.'

APerfectLie 10-17-2010 08:08 PM

"Rock a little."

PenguinHead 10-17-2010 09:20 PM

"There is magic all around you."

Seriously reconsider using 'Rock on ancient queen." It's a nice lyric, but giving anyone anything enscribed with the phrase "ancient queen" has sensitive implications and could easily be misconstrued as derogitory.

Once I sent an angry email to one of my gay friends, and signed off with that phrase. He told me that was the part that hurt the most!

In the context of the song, it seems like such a bitter, cynical, condescending line, especially when it's followed by the line "...follow those who pale in your shadow." My interpretation of this is that the "ancient queen" is the same person as "the lady" who goes thin in "Bella Donna" - the drug-addled hot mess who is a shadow of her former self who has become merely a follower rather than an innovator. Not the most flattering thing to say about someone, particularly your mother!

How's this instead... "I have changed, oh, but you... You remain ageless."
