It is now time to vote for your favorite Stevie songs from Tusk. Multiple choice vote - limit yourself to 2 votes.

EDIT: Here's the updated standings for this battle...

Sisters of the Moon - 26 votes
Storms - 25 votes
Beautiful Child - 21 votes
Angel - 10 votes

bluefox4000 10-04-2010 08:58 PM

Beautiful Child. I love this song. Stunning. Chokes me up sometimes.

Mick

CreepingDeath 10-05-2010 01:08 AM

Storms and Sisters of the Moon

You really can't go wrong with any of them though. Stevie was pure perfection on Tusk.

tilthefirefades 10-05-2010 03:05 AM

Beautiful Child and Sara, the two songs every artist should aspire to equal in their career.

Artemis 10-05-2010 03:22 AM

Beautiful Child and Sisters of the Moon, both are perfection.

I totally expect Sara to walk this though.

louielouie2000 10-05-2010 04:22 AM

Oh gosh, this is like trying to chose between my children! I don't know if I can single out any one of these tunes as being superior to the other... they're all masterpieces crafted at Stevie's absolute height. All of these songs have spoken to me at different times in my life, and they've all shuffled around being my favorite. They're all wonderful in their own ways, for varying reasons.

Beautiful Child might eek out an edge because it's the perfect triumvirate: beautiful lyrics, gorgeous vocals, & sublime instrumentals. Add to the fact it translates to the stage just as effectively as the studio, and we might just have a winner. For instance, I think Storms is probably the best songwriting of the lot, but it didn't translate to stage as well. Sisters of the Moon was a powerhouse on stage, but with age, I find the lyrics to be a bit trite in spots. So there we go... I guess Beautiful Child it must be... but it wins solely by a thread! :D

Silver Springs 10-05-2010 06:55 AM

I voted for Beautiful Child and Storms. They hold more resonance with me.

MissLadyLoki 10-05-2010 07:56 AM

Oy vey! Why'd you have to make it 2 choices?! Anyways, I gave it to Storms and Sisters of the Moon.

Kayli 10-05-2010 09:59 AM

It is harder to vote for two songs than it is to vote for one song! Sara and Beautiful Child snatched my vote. Every time I hear these beauties, I'm floored.

chiliD 10-05-2010 11:06 AM

Nothin' on the entire album (by any of the writers) tops "Sisters Of The Moon", for me.

Really.

I'm not kidding.

No, you're not reading it wrong.....chiliD's fave song on Tusk really IS a Stevie Nicks song. Why is that so hard to imagine??

GypsySorcerer 10-05-2010 11:14 AM

Storms is the best song she's ever written, IMO, so that was the easy first choice.

After much debate, I went with Sisters of the Moon over Beautiful Child.

starshine 10-06-2010 06:10 PM

Not easy by any means cause I really like all of Stevie songs off Tusk. I picked: Sara and Angel. I really love them both. I love Stevie's voice on Sara and Angel is such a fun song esp live its great!!! Now I do love SOTM but chose not to pick it this time...than it would probably be Storms than Beautiful Child....its hard to pick from songs you really really love.....

MacShadowsBall 10-06-2010 06:45 PM

Even though the battle continues for another 2 days, I have a feeling we might have our first tie with this battle. :distress:

priestofnothing 10-06-2010 06:52 PM

They are all wonderful in their own way, but to pick one...

Sara

is about the most luscious Stevie song ever, so I have to go with Sara.

Christopher 10-06-2010 07:01 PM

SARA - because of its gorgeous sonic musicscape and great lyrical imagery. Plus Stevie's sublime fragile yet controlled vocal performance.

& this is hard to choose, but I'll toss it to BEAUTIFUL CHILD- One of Stevie's best slow songs. "I'm not a child anymore, I'm tall enough to reach for the star's"...

If there's a tie, you should have a sudden death vote for like 3 days, find the winner, and then go onto the next round.

MacShadowsBall 10-06-2010 07:47 PM

MissLadyLoki - Yeah a sudden death round sounds like a good way to go. Have it for 2 or 3 days, then go on to Christine's songs from Mirage.

By the looks of it, it's gonna be Sara and Beautiful Child duking uit out. Should be very interesting

TrueFaith77 10-07-2010 08:15 AM

This goes to show why there should only be one vote per song. :wavey:

I agree.

Mick

jellyman10 10-07-2010 09:55 AM

Went for 'Sara', then 'Storms'.

BUT if you'd asked this three months ago, I'd probably have said 'Angel', then 'Sara'. I just find that favourite anythings change with my emotional weather, and that's never more true than with music.

'Sara', though, is fast becoming a total geek obsession with me. I think it's one of the very few tracks by any artist that can make me feel really up OR really down. And it's at least partially (I would argue principally, in fact) an artist singing to/about her muse(s), and I find that sooooo inspiring. *sighs*

Kena 10-07-2010 11:28 AM

Jellyman I'm with you on the Sara and Storms pick. Sara is absolutely my favorite released Stevie song. It's "the poet in my heart." Storms is just beautiful. I agree that it didn't translate to the stage very well though. I especially love listening to the Storms demo that sounds like it was recorded late at night and it's just Stevie and Lindsey and Stevie's voice is about gone. Lindsey sings along and Stevie does the best she can singing. I lurve it!

Musicman408 10-07-2010 12:15 PM

Well my word- if this isn't the closest poll in history, I don't know what is!!

Seriously, it was a four way tie when I checked this morning, and it's sill an insanely close race now!

ButterCookie 10-07-2010 02:08 PM

Now that I've voted for Storms, it's a 3 way tie

nailatixela 10-07-2010 02:37 PM

Somebody voted for more than 2 songs.

I wish all of these polls weren't more than one vote.

MissLadyLoki 10-07-2010 03:36 PM

Now it's a tie between Sara and Storms with 20 each

MacShadowsBall 10-07-2010 05:06 PM

This is really exciting - in a Fleetwood Mac nerd sorta way! Really just goes to show that Stevie's set of songs from Tusk are her best songs. One of these songs might just win Favorite Stevie Song of All Time.

GypsyNikita 10-07-2010 05:37 PM

Sisters of the Moon and Beautiful Child!!!

Although Sara is awesome too!!! Gosh it's sooo hard to choose! Stevie's songs are just so epic on this album!!! :D

Yeh, that demo's incredible. We're so lucky to have these sonic artefacts to pore over and keep the obsession going! :D

'Sara' to win, tho, please.

Uh, that would be me. Therefore subtract one point from all five tracks. Then add one point to Sara and one point to Storms. Now what's the score?

MacShadowsBall 10-07-2010 08:38 PM

If we adjust the votes, per vivfox, SOTM has 22 votes, Sara & Storms have 21 votes, BC has 19, and Angel has 7 votes...

...or we could just leave the votes as is?

Hey, I'm the one who guessed your screen name correctly. I deserve to be counted.

MacShadowsBall 10-07-2010 08:45 PM

Point taken!

TrueFaith77 10-07-2010 09:40 PM

when does this poll close? I cawn't believe that BC didn't win. I mean. I totally didn't think it even had a chance, but then I had my hopes up for the first few days(?)

MacShadowsBall 10-07-2010 10:31 PM

Poll closes tomorrow (Friday) at 8:38 pm (central time).

Perhaps we can get the Ledgies that stick to Stevie's forum to vote?

mylittledemon 10-08-2010 04:44 AM

I like all of those actually. Sara would have to be my album favorite though.

I always wished they had mixed Angel to be more rocky like the way it was being played back in the studio on the Tusk documentary.
