CollegeFootball 2010
I was going to hijack iamnotafraid's bama thread...but that would be wrong...just wrong. Bama and the Tide are Rolling...let them have their own.
As for the "also ran's" --- what games did you watch this weekend? Last weekend it was -- K-State vs. UCLA (Take THAT Rick Neuheisel!) This weekend it was Kansas vs. Georgia Tech 28-25 (Yes, there were some stupid moves, but these guys are kids and are supposed to do dumb stuff.) http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...ls/kansaFB.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...turnergill.jpg And I like Turner Gill, but then again, I am bias because I graduated from the University of Nebraska. I will say that I did spend a few hours in Purgatory, as I watched the CU-Cal game...and I didn't even turn it over...I watched the whole massacre... What games did you watch? |
Quote:
i listened to the husker game on the radio, i watched the bama game as well~ i love turner gill too!!!~ couldn't believe kansas got beat last week, glad to see they turned it around this week~ we are watching suh & the lions right now, i know it's not college per say, but gotta love suh!!!~ |
One of my really good friends goes to UGA and my roommate's boyfriend goes to Carolina, so I REALLY wanted to watch that game this weekend. Life got in the way, though :(

Anyways, I never understood the fascination with college football (the players are gonna be gone in 4 years, not to mention that the Stony Brook Seawolves are beyond pathetic lol), i'm still gonna root for UGA. |

Neither my school nor the school that I spend most of my time at even HAS a football team. I think I've adopted Yale as my team just to cheer them to beating Harvard. Other than that, I go with PENN STATE, my mommy's alma mater. |
Quote:
& also it's awesome to watch the young men develop & see whether or not the have what it takes to play in the NFL~ one of our cornhusker players was 2nd pick in the NFL draft this year, it was a big thing around here~ & on a shallow note, i love watching the cute, cute players~ like alabama used to have a quarterback name john parker wilson, he is dreamy, i never missed a televised game because of him:nod::D~ |

My older brother is also on the Nebraska band wagon, but unfortunately he lives in 'Dirtbowl', err Lubbock - Home of Texas Tech who will get smoked this weekend. One team I will NEVER cheer for, that's easy, The University of Blow-U, Err O-Who...I meant the Boohoo Sooners (Livia, where's that crying O-Who fan picture??? :D ) |

Akron Zips!
Kentucky takes on the always tough Akron Zips this Saturday. “They know how to run the football,” UK coach Joker Phillips said of the Zips.
Lets hope the Cats aren't looking ahead to the Florida game. |
USC at Minnesota Gophers...who you got? USC favored by 12. W hy on earth would a school adopt a nickname like "Gophers". That's like the "Rats" or "Squirrels". Better to be a Trojan.

Comdoms vs. Rats...you guys crack me up and I'm not supposed to be on the internet here at work...
Oh... ChiliD -- Be still my heart... That big Red N, says it all... They're on ABC....woo hoo! Jill (Goddess6) you reminded me of all the bumper stickers I used to see around Sioux City. & Council Bluffs....."I like two football teams...Iowa and whoever is playing Nebraska." I used to HATE reading those... Brian and his reference to Blow U ... makes me smile every time. I haven't heard that phrase since LAST season. They are against Air Force this week and it's televised here. Man, I want Air Force to win sooooo bad. kak125 -- My son's been talking about that game on the 30th Louisville & Pitt... he's coming home from college that weekend and already has all the games selected that we'll be watching . (Sadly....We have only one TV that gets reception now that HD has taken over...) iamnotafraid.... Bama's got Duke tomorrow eh? JWS, I enjoyed your little brown creature..., but I suppose if he got pissed off enough, he could do some damage. Internet says Kentucky is on TV tomorrow too. I hope that I have the TV to myself tomorrow and the other members of the family have "errands" to run... |

Kentucky ahead of the defenseless Akron Zips 47-3 in the 4th quarter. What exactly is a Zip and why on earth would they play a SEC school? Answer...money! Big money to take a thumping loss. Yep, now there are funds for womens volleyball.

Its rumored that Boise State has offered up to $1M/game to some of the biggest programs in the country to set up a presumably meaningful game- none will bite. The whole system sucks. |

Late to the party again, just read this whole thread. Well, you already know who I love and they gave me a scare tonight, but YAY HORNS!!!
"This game was brought to you by Pillsbury Turnovers and Butterfinger bars." Gilbert's still shaky as a new QB, but most of those incompletions weren't his fault - Tech tipping the ball and receivers who couldn't hang onto the easiest catches. Did you see that idiot Raider fan wearing the "Tuck Fexas" t-shirt? What he will do w/ that shirt now? Probably burn it. :D All week, I thought if the Longhorns won, it would be by 3 to 7 points, so I was pleased w/ the final score, and second half shutout. Our defense rocks! And thank goodness Crabtree ain't around anymore. :p A win is a win, but they need to quit screwing themselves w/ the sloppiness and penalties. It was such a fun, crazy, exciting game to watch! Oh, here ya go, Brian! |

Oklahoma fans salute Air Force before Saturday's football game
By Berry Tramel Oklahoman Published: September 18, 2010 NORMAN -- A strange thing happened at Owen Field on Saturday. The visiting team ran out onto the field to a standing ovation. After a national anthem that concluded with a definitely-muted "Sooners!", OU's video board ran a short Air Force tribute, followed by a request from Sooner coach Bob Stoops to stand and cheer the Falcons, for "tomorrow these brave cadets will be defending our freedom." The crowd of 85,000-plus complied. Earlier in the week, Stoops had asked fans to sing "brave" instead of "Sooners," which had become an OU tradition in the last decade. The sound of "Sooners" was definitely muted compared to past games. Retired Lt. Col. Alan Bonner, an Idabel native, OU grad and former Air Force band conductor, served as guest conductor as student Kevin Wright sang "The Star-Spangled Banner." Also, the OU fans cheered when the Pride of Oklahoma played Air Force's fight song, "Off We Go," some 15 minutes before game time. And the flyover of four Air Force jets, F-15 Eagles, during the anthem thrilled the crowd. ======================================================== Two comments: 1. I am touched by Bob Stoops & the OU tribute. 2. The fun of living 40 miles from the Air Force Academy is seeing these fly-ers. One year we accompanied the Cub Scouts to an AFA game. The plane was flown by some alumni celebrating his graduation from the academy in 1970-something. The plane was so big and so loud...it brought cheers from the scouts and fear to the adults as it engulfed the stadium. |

I am not too worried about them driving together on the way to Lincoln, it's on the way back, that someone's gonna get hurt... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I watched bits of the Kentucky - Akron game - [pat on the back to JWS] I watched Nebraska-Washington until ABC turned the channel... [damn you ABC!] I watched bits of Air Force - OU ... (Colorado doesn't have a good college football team, except for Air Force.) I watched UCLA - Houston until Houston was forced to put in their 4th string QB...then it was just too painful to see Rick Neuheisel anymore... [Neuheisel used to coach CU -- and folks around here, just don't like him...] |

just might happen. And the Crimson Tide Of Alabama will destroy them. Maybe that will encourage them to paint that horrible looking blue field a different color. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!! |
