Invitation to media outlets to cover EXCLUSIVE Stevie Nicks event in Atlantic City

There will be an EXCLUSIVE VIP event surrounding the Stevie Nicks Concert in Atlantic City, NJ before the Stevie Nicks Concert. It will begin at 6pm Eastern. All media outlets are invited for coverage on this unique event.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 17, 2010 – FOR OFFICIAL AND IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
in regards to the Stevie Nicks Concert in Atlantic City.

On behalf of the administrators and myself,Agent to Radio Host and Designer Joshua-Paul Angell, we would like to invite you to send a film crew or reporter to Atlantic City on 27th of August. In hopes of an upcoming special on Stevie. If you want the story, see details.
We have a group that has organized the Stevie Nicks Exclusive Pre-Show Party which will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe, located at the Donald Trump Taj Mahal. The event will start at 6:00pm Eastern.

The underlying theme to this event is the UNCONDITIONAL BOND that is created among Stevie's fans. Extending many years back to present, through all walks of life, this bond is unique and showcase by the attending individuals, some of which are very high profile.

It is Stevie Nicks' magical lyrics that brought "us" together, and these poignant individuals that will be hosting this event.
We are taking this upon ourselves to introduce Kathy Law Foussider, a fellow Stevie fan, that has graciously offered her Steviefied home, to fellow Stevie fans, that are complete strangers outside of Facebook. Her precious time and energy, selflessness to fellow fans make it possible for us to attend this concert. Many of us coming in stemming from Chicago, Houston, Oklahoma City, Delaware, Florida, California, Missouri- not to mention Ireland.

Yes, Ireland, this "unconditional bond" that is created among Stevie's fans has brought Alan and Nikita, brother and sister from Ireland, they are coming in to see Stevie perform live. They have never been to America, and they have no family here.

Group Administrator, Arlene Lewis, who created Sisters of the Moon, which is a huge success, has put together a scrapbook for Stevie that will relay our very personal messages, in remembrance of Patricia McCoy, that recently passed away from cabcer.

Joshua-Paul Angell, who is a fashion designer for Rosanne Barr and Betty Buckley, will be making a RARE personal appearance, as he has since retired at the young age of 31, although he designs now for charity. Joshua-Paul is personal friends with large names in both the fashion industry, and radio industry, as well as the political atmosphere.
Just some of the others in attendance:
Sandy which has held us up with many, many updates and keeps us well rounded.

Missy, coming in from Florida, graciously is showing her love by inviting a select few to join her in her suite.

Nelda Wilson, the creator of this event, who has worked tirelessly to showcase the unconditional bond that revolves around the legendary Stevie Nicks, of Fleetwood Mac fame.

We would like to convey that we are having a Exclusive Fan Party, showcasing Stevie Nicks and her biggest supporters. These are people who actually develop true and meaningful friendships that stem from the talent of Stephanie Lynn Nicks, which shows the Uncondional Bond that is magical.

The information within this Official Press Release is only a small portion of the story that can be had here to provide you with a unique story showcasing Stevie Nicks' appearance in Atlantic City, NJ on August 27 of 2010

Any questions may be relayed by contacting the following via Facebook.
See the fan page for Fashion Designer Joshua-Paul Angell, which is located under "The Joshua-Paul Show on WBTR Worldwide Radio, or by calling his show line directly.

Oh dear... some people will stop at nothing to get attention. And if I were a clothing designer, I would not exactly boast about Roseanne Barr wearing one of my creations. Let's just say she is not exactly what I think of when I think of a style icon.

I think it's a press release inviting media to an event featuring Stevie fans.

Yeah, I think its just inviting the press to the pre party there having at the Hard Rock prior to the Atlantic City show.

Zombie 08-18-2010 06:03 PM

The writing of a good press release is something of a fine art, and as a person often hired by companies to write press releases, I must say that reading this was almost physically painful. It's like an example of everything you DON'T do if you want to write a professional press release.

Of course, someone could argue that this is just a fan party and therefore doesn't need a professional press release. And if someone argued that, I would totally agree! Except if you don't need a professional press release, then you don't need a press release at all.

That thing is not doing anyone ANY favors here. Yikes.

No self respecting organization is going to use the free press site (prlog).

Yar, that too - but even if you're going to use PRLog, you can at least write the damn thing well.

I feel like I am being really mean here, but...I am really mean in general, so I guess it's not unexpected at the very least?

Seriously, though, y'all - if any of you wanna throw a Stevie party and do a press release about it in future, give me a shout so we can cobble something together that will actually represent you WELL. It'll be fun and I won't want to bang my forehead on my desk repeatedly - everyone wins!

Louie and Zombie wrote what I was thinking, when I first read this.
I waited to reply; because I think it's sad, when fans get goofy enough to want press coverage for their fandom. I've seen it before, with fans of other performers. It can, and usually does, give 'fans' a bad reputation and it can get ugly.
I also think it's a smarmy way to treat the performer, for a group of fans to seek media coverage for themselves when her name is being used without permission. There doesn't even seem to be a charity involved.
As lacking as the press release was, the 'desperately seeking validation' vibe made me feel bad for the people involved. Yet, the people traveling from Ireland for the concert is touching.
I wish them all a fun time with their event, but, yes, it strikes me as 'creepy' also.

To me, it feels like a desperate attempt to get the performer's attention.

DavidMn 08-19-2010 04:41 AM

Exclusive?! Give me a break! I have been a fan for 32 years and been to over 100 concerts but I would NEVER even dream of putting on such a breathtaking display of egomaniacal behavior as these people are. We are all fans I dont care if youve been to 0 or 1000 shows. Who is anyone to assume they're a bigger fan than someone else. These people need to get an F-ing Life!

That struck me, too. I might feel a little differently if they were raising money for the iPod thing or cancer research or something. But this just sounds like a party for some friends, and there is no need for a press release about that. I mean, I don't issue a press release every time I do something mundane like that. "ATTENTION MEDIA: THAT ONE HOT GUY I'M SEEING AND I JUST DECIDED TO STAY IN AND WATCH A DVD. If we're feeling really froggy, we may even have popcorn and invite a friend or two over to watch it with us! Major media outlets are sure to find prime fodder for the evening news, so this amazing event is open to any members of the press ready to capture the magic of our special bond, which may or may not include That One Hot Guy not getting annoyed at me when I accidentally hit the fast forward button instead of the pause button for the 7th time in a row and us running out of Guinness not even halfway through the opening credits!"

Yeah, no.

But, to be fair, if I add something like, "Proceeds go towards Feed the Bear-Jew, a charity devoted to raising enough money to keep Eli Roth in blueberries for the rest of his natural days, thus keeping the world safe for democracy!" then it's totes legit.

diamondsnake 08-19-2010 08:39 AM

I hadn't been on this site in a while... I just read this, and the first two posts praising these people, and thought "Wow, the Ledge has really gone to pot."

Glad I kept reading and realized I wasn't the only one that thought this was coocadoodle doo...

Just because you reserved a table for eight at the Hard Rock Cafe doesn't mean there needs to be reporters involved! :sorry:

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but are you guys aware that this event involves one of our Ledgies?

Something else I noticed was that this event starts at 6PM. How do they expect to have all that raving done by the time the show starts?

I see that these folks are gathering, in part, to honor a Ledgie who recently passed away. I can understand and respect that. I get the idea that these fans want to gather and bond over their love of Stevie; I just don't understand the dramatic and painful-to-read press release." Seriously, why would anyone be interested in a pre-concert get-together?

First off let me say that I am not a part of this event but I really don't understand all the confusion by the folks who have responded to this post. Jannie, haven't you expressed in another thread how you wished you could have gotten together with some Ledgies while you were in NYC for the Night of a Thousand Stevie's? And hasn't many a Ledgie expressed their desire to meet up with other members to see each other face to face before many a show? Just because these fans want media attention, I personally don't see a problem with that. And many of you Ledgies are friends with Arlene.

I know Jannie's said this stuff before too - I figured she was referring to the media not wanting to come to the event. But to that, I say they might. My local news stations cover all sorts of stupid stuff that I couldn't care less about. Not saying that a Stevie event is stupid, but my point is it might get picked up by a local station if it's a slow news night.

It doesn't seem like anyone is confused about Stevie fans getting together before the show, just the reasoning behind sending an invitation to the media to cover it as an "Exclusive, VIP" event.

Sorry for the confusion- I *totally* understand the desire for a pre-concert get together. I loved NOTS and being surrounded by all those Stevie freaks! :woohoo:
I don't understand the need to alert the media for this particular event.

I'm going to say this... THIS was something that was written WITHOUT anyone's knowledge or CONSENT- Kathy Law Foussadier, myself, nor ANYONE ELSE involved in this letter had any idea this was written (other then after the fact, when it was sent to all of the "Admins" of this event)! - There is "NO" VIP event, nor does Kathy Foussadier have her home OPEN for everyone to camp out! She's having people such as myself, and several others stay with her, as we go back many years. This event is encompassing "ANYONE" who would like to attend, beforehand, which so far about 50 people who will be attending! So just to clear this up-everyone who is attending is extremely excited, as we all are, and there was NOTHING meant to exclude anyone, and NO ONE is out to get "Anyone's attentions" here! We are "ALL" fans, and it's a very exciting fan get-together- which we can't be prouder of! And we'd love for everyone to attend!

Hey Janet..

To clear up "Why" fans would be interested in a pre-concert get together.. Well, there are at least 50+ people coming in from all over the world, a Brother and Sister, who the Sister is one of our "Ledgies" too- Gypsy Nikita~ There are others who go way back with each other, such as myself, Kathy Foussadier, and many others- from the Stevie (online) community for well over 12+ years... and someone had mentioned that it would be a really fun thing to do, for all of us to meet up before the show, get a LOT of pictures, which I'm sure will be shared here, and have a drink together, just as I'm sure a LOT of us have done, as I have met up with Ledgies before FM shows many other times prior! Dallas 2003- Say You Will tour? I know many of our Ledgies were there! So this is just one more of those kind of things, and that's not anything "weird or foreign" to MANY of our Ledgies! Hopefully, now, this is making sense..

Thank you SO much Viv! You're a doll! There are MANY Ledgies who I have "personally" had the pleasure of meeting up with over the years, so why a "preshow get together" is so WEIRD and foreign is a mystery to me, when MANY of us have! Now the letter.. I had no knowledge of, until after the fact, as I mentioned..

Hugs to you my friend,

Arlene

Heya, Arlene,

I can't speak for everyone commenting here, but for myself, I totally understand the desire to have a fan party before a show. I myself would totally throw one or attend one if the opportunity arose. So please don't misunderstand - I'm happy you guys are having a party, which sounds like a lot of fun, and I hope you all have a blast. So that's totally not the WTF for me.

The WTF for me was just the press release itself, for several reasons, not least of which is the way it's written. The whole thing is just really quite puzzling on several levels - why a press release for a fan party? Why PRLog? What did the writer hope to achieve with this? I think it's casting you guys in a light you don't want or deserve to be cast in, which is unfair to all involved.

Hey Girlfriend- Thanks so much for the sweet words, as I can't agree more... I'm SO glad that I had someone call me to tell me about this on the Ledge, so I could come on here and answer questions. Not one of us were asked for a "consent" to "OK' this letter being put out anywhere, and none of us had any idea that this sort of thing would even be put out to the public, as all it was - was a fb page started by a friend of ours. Not sure what they were trying to achieve, nor why they chose whatever they chose, and yes, this is totally "against" anything that the people she mentioned in the letter, were about! All we are after is a great get together with a lot of people coming from all over the place to finally meet each other, and it seems this person, or people took this and put a "Glorified" slant to it, which NONE of us are about! We're just basically out to have a blast and meet other fans! No "VIP" no Glorified anything - No "needing a pass" to come, just plain old, good fashioned fan get-together - period! You summed it up beautifully, and I thank you SO much for the sweet post~
