Favorite rocker

In the vein of duets and ballads polls, here's a poll to ask which of the above rockers from Stevie are your favorite?

If you'd like, include why it's your favorite.

Artemis 08-16-2010 12:41 AM

I couldn't possibly decide between Edge, Nothing Ever Changes and Fall From Grace.

Edge is just a classic, that guitar riff, her vocal delivery... everything about it is perfect.

Nothing Ever Changes... it's just a great song. The drums, Stevie's vocal, the sax! It's perfect.

And Fall From Grace... it's her modern rock song, it has all the energy and fire that a great rock song needs, and Stevie really puts her all into it.

daniellaaarisen 08-16-2010 02:11 AM

Edge of Seventeen with a close second from Fall From Grace.

tilthefirefades 08-16-2010 03:17 AM

Other...Blue Denim! I know it may not be as rocking as the others, but it's my favorite rocker. Now as pure songs, I love EO17 and FFG much, much more. But Blue Denim just gets me pumped.

Sahara 08-16-2010 06:07 AM

Everybody Finds Out (I love everything about this song and wish it had been done live!), followed by Fall From Grace.

nailatixela 08-16-2010 08:53 AM

Out of these, I'll have to vote for Everybody Finds Out. Listening to Edge of Seventeen, Fall From Grace & Everybody Finds Out back to back is a great listening experience.

Travis 08-16-2010 09:00 AM

“Long Way to Go”, especially the extended remix version. The song is “driving” ….

“You were high in my life … obsessive was my love …. So have fun tell the world, oh no you are faaaaaaaading ouuuuuuuut.”

louielouie2000 08-16-2010 09:00 AM

I chose Freedom... I think it's one of Stevie's most under-appreciated songs. I love to listen to it when I'm pissed off... "All the looks that you use on me don't work now that you've FALLEN!!" Makes me feel bratty! :p

Another fav that's not listed here is Love Is Like A River. It's a bit more of a slow burn rocker, but it eventually gets to quite a boil at the end. I really love the sentiments of this song. It and Freedom seem to be about waking up from a bad relationship, being ANGRY, and not taking any more ****! :D

I must try that! :D

SapphireSister 08-16-2010 09:52 AM

The first thing that came to mind before I read the nominees was I Can't Wait but Fall From Grace is just as much of a rocker so I can't chose between the two. Can anyone tell I'm a Libra? I'm so indecisive and am always weighing the scales. The lyrics to FFG truly resonate with me ( "Why am I always so intense"!) but I have so much history with ICW (and who doesn't dance around in a circle wondering where they will be 20 years from now?). EFO is an absolutely fabulous song, so much fun, and a favorite from SYW but the other 2 are more defining Stevie songs to me. No pun intended. I will eventually chose between ICW and FFG but for now I'll just read what you guys say. Oooh but Edge rocks too!

Would it be offensive to start a poll of your favorite Stevie song to make love to or get you in the mood?

Hope that sounds good. I actually messed up the order. It's supposed to go EOS, EFO and then FFG. I just listened to those 3 one day in that order and it really gets you in the mood.

Ahahaha. I'd totally die if you did that. xD

Although, that being said, I lost my virginity while Sara was playing. :o

DefDumbandBlond 08-16-2010 02:39 PM

All these songs listed are some of my favorite Stevie songs of all times but in terms of rockiest FFG gets my vote definitely! :D 'Long Way To Go' probably would have been my second pick.

EnchantedKiwi 08-16-2010 02:46 PM

Fall from Grace and Everybody Finds Out are really close contenders, but EO17 is just Stevie's ultimate rock ballad

For one thing, by these song titles, I seriously wonder how the definition of a "rocker" is defined.

Stand Back
Edge of Seventeen
Rhiannon (live between '75-79)
Everybody Finds Out (only marginal)
No Spoken Word (only marginal)

Long Way To Go

Well I picked 'Long Way To Go' cause I've always loved this song....esp when I'm angry....its a great angry song ......"Go tell the world....I thought we already did that....."....love it esp from the masters when Stevie sings 'black bird' at the end....this really should've been sung live during the Mirror tour....I think it would've rocked than....anyway, of the other choices I do also love Fall From Grace. I did think that was one of the best songs live during TISL period. Edge well is an ok song for me now for me its just soooo overplayed now I almost can't stand it anymore. ICW hasn't ever been a favorite either. Its an ok song but its just too repetative of a song for me and I've got boots of it live and it doesn't come over too well. I'd have love to have heard 'The Nightmare' extended vocal version live......I think that would've been cool though. Anyway, just some thoughts.......:D

GypsySorcerer 08-20-2010 06:51 PM

Edge of Seventeen
Long Way to Go
Fall From Grace

jrpjr 08-20-2010 09:32 PM

By far her BEST rock song is "Violet And Blue." Everything about it is pure rock...Why this was never released as a single is beyond me....best commercial..radio play..."Edge Of Seventeen." Best non commercial off an album..."Long Way To Go."...i did like "I Can't Wait" wen it first came out...great video (at the time) she looked great...and it showed her dancing and stuff..but i can barely listen to it today..it is sooo cheesey.. i hate it today...even the video is rediculous..all done....thanks folks

AliceLover 08-21-2010 01:02 PM

Stand Back (live)
Fall From Grace
Edge of Seventeen
I Can't Wait

How the hell isn't Nothing Ever Changes a rocker. It's almost the definition for me. Listen to the Rain i could agree with, but Nothing Ever Changes hits me harder then almost any song Stevie or ohterwise. Does the sax disqualify it for you?

Silver Springs 08-21-2010 07:53 PM

I voted for Everybody Finds Out, but now that I think about it there's only one rocker of hers that sticks out for me. One that is constantly played to death on my iPod. Stand Back to me will always be my favourite Stevie song, be it by her lonesome or performed with more gusto as a live Fleetwood Track. Even though, as with alot of the songs that become known as greats, the lyrics are simple and somewhat repetitive, it always gets me to my feet performing the diseased chicken dance that only those with two left feet could perfect.

Sahara 08-22-2010 08:35 AM

^^ Stand Back is one of my favourite pick-me-up songs. It absolutely rocked the house in Dublin last October :)

Silver Springs 08-22-2010 10:30 AM

Have you seen them live more than once? I wish I could. I only saw FM in November of last year and they were phenomenal. Stevie didn't stand out as much as I expected in all honesty. But, as I knew would be the case, Lindsey well and truly stole the show. Converted my Mother from a casual "I'll bop my head if I hear one of their more well known songs" listener to a fan of Lindsey so that was definitely a job well done :P Even if they didn't perform my favourite song (Silver Springs, as though it needed to be pointed out hehe).

ryguy2010 08-22-2010 12:30 PM

I think Whole Lotta Trouble should get an honorable mention too!

Less not is Mirror, Mirror. I am not sure what you all think but that too just rocks for me.

I saw them at both their Dublin shows last October, that was my first time seeing them. Lindsey absolutely stole the show, eveyone said so, but Stevie definitely had some very powerful moments and it was magical to see her right before my eyes. They're both such legends to me! I think Lindsey made a bigger impact because of his interaction with the crowd up at the front of the stage. Stevie kind of acted a little bit like we weren't there... :o Can't wait to see them again ;)

Silver Springs came and went from the setlist as far as I know, depending on how Stevie was feeling on the night. They performed it the first night in Dublin but not the second, when Stevie wasn't on top form. Don't worry though, you'll get your chance!

Welcome to the board, by the way! :wavey:

Silver Springs 08-22-2010 08:50 PM

Oooo! Same tour! I saw them a little earlier than that in Manchester in November. It was a good tour :P Unfortunately for me I was nowhere near the front. In fact I was up in the gods with the noise folk. But it was still amazing. I would probably deny this in person but on this board I'm not ashamed to say I burst into tears when they appeared on stage and didn't stop crying until well into the third song (Gypsy, Rhiannon and Dreams were the first three). It was almost like an out of body experience, to be actually watching them on stage where I'd previously only be sat in my bedroom with my vinyl dreaming about it (I'd be the only one in the audience. But bugger it, it's my fantasy lol). I think all of them stand out in their own way, even though Lindsey definitely is the more flamboyant. John has this amazing err of "Yeah. I'm cool. I know it. But I'm not going to show it". You have to love that silent superiority :P And Mick.. He's with Lindsey in the child club. He picks up his sticks and you see the small boy he used to be and the glee on his face. It's magical.

She mustn't have been on top form during the show I went to then. Pity :( I hope I do get my chance! They need to tour again. Preferably tomorrow (wishful thinking :P). But obviously as we've learned with the band, you know not to expect anything to happen until it's already happened. But one can hope. Hopefully I'll be there in the front row next time, waving my Buckingham Nicks vinyl sleeve and a sharpie just in case Lindsey decides to pause the show just for me (haha! Yeah right!).

Okay. I'm getting carried away with myself here. No wonder people refer to me as Gob Almighty in real life. I don't know when to shut up hehe. Thank you, by the way! I signed up a while ago but I completely forgot about it being the scatterbrain/technophobe that I am :p

I absolutely know what you mean! I was crying before they even got on stage. I just couldn't believe it was finally happening for me. :o

He just might ;) I think I've seen photos of him kneeling on the stage signing things at his solo shows...? We'll keep hoping! :xoxo:

Yes, he does do that at the end of the show sometimes.

NO, the plodding beat...nothing about says "rocker" to me.

I had to vote for "Everybody finds out", it was my favorite from SYW, of course I have something to complain about, I feel that the song is sawed off the moment it really starts to rock, and I'm still waiting for an uncut version to see the light, which goes on for 20 seconds or more after the abrupt fade out from the album.

What about Angel? For Stevie it is a rocker. And it doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
