It's Only Love

So I was over at Rite-Aid getting an Rx fill-up on Xanax, & I hear a very familiar song on the overhead. I sing along with it, but sort of unable to identify it. Then it hits me: It's "It's Only Love"! but it isn't the Stevie Nicks version.

What other version is there? Whom was I listening to?

Nikolaj 08-14-2010 11:34 PM

I'm pretty sure Sheryl Crow recorded a solo version of it, maybe 2 albums ago. Detours?
(Import version w bonus track?)
Louielouie will know the answer.

Yeah, I think Sheryl record it with Gwyneth Paltrow if I remember correctly.

DestinyRules 08-15-2010 12:44 AM

Correct. Sheryl re-recorded "It's Only Love" with Gwyneth Paltrow on her 2002 record C'mon C'mon.

The intro on Sheryl's reminds me very much of Joan Osborne's "What If God Were One Of Us".

[QUOTE=David;905889]So I was over at Rite-Aid getting an Rx fill-up on Xanax

Same drug store, same drug. 2 nights ago, here. I told my doc it only makes me go to sleep, but with it nearly 2 am, I'll take it. Or took it already. I'm not fond of Xanax, which my doctor says is good, but I'm learning to appreciate it a little, maybe.
Doesn't do a thing for anxiety, but it beats the hell out of Ambien to sleep well. I may be the only person on record who stayed up 3 nights without a wink after taking one Ambien each night. Another failed med for me. I've found these 2 I've mentioned will work best if I over-eat, and last night I desperately needed the sleep, so I ate a lot. But I'm not going to get fat to make any prescriptions work.
Sorry, David. You mentioned Xanax and I'm close to 60 days opiate free after about 7 years, which makes me want to whistle the Andy Griffith Show theme song- (Opie-ate...never mind). Besides, can't whistle, never have been able to. Lauren Bacall's well-known line doesn't work, for me.
Do you have any tips for making the Xanax kick in faster, that doesn't involve food? I'm relatively new to the drug, um, just about 60 days, not so oddly, in my case.
I had tried Xanax in the '80s for a week, and told my doctor it wouldnt work, it only made me sleep. She said that was fine, I was 21 yrs older now, and to nibble a corner in the day, which kind of is starting to help for stress, but it has to be like a flea-sized bite, or I get sleepy. I'm to take the rest of the 1 pill a day ration at bedtime, but the full pill is what knocks me out.
The pills are so tiny, too. I think it makes me think it's not working, I'm used to larger shaped prescription narcotics, those I felt, but got to needing too many. Now that it's been 2 months, maybe if I start the opiates again, I won't need as many? See the doc soon, again. Darvocet has been mentioned, but since it sounds so much like Percocet, it makes me think its an opiate, too. So, if after 2 months of being off them, and i go back to an opitate, it may as well be the one I liked. And just try to use less.
It's such an inexact science. What works best for you? If you don't want to answer, its ok, I will just go to the website, but maybe you know and the info usually contradicts itself, anyway, tho some sites are better than others.
Avoid suboxone David, it's very unpleasant. But if this Xanax doesn't kick in soon, I'll take one, my doctor says they should be taken together, and I took myself off the Suboxone though she wanted me to continue. Not serious here- but it seems like she wants me vomiting (suboxone) or over-eating (xanax) in order for me to benefit from the drugs.
What works for you, Mister Ledgie of many posts?

I don't want you guys to think that I'm taking all these tranquilizers. I'm a happy peppy person--all naturally! The only pills I take daily are blood-pressure medication & fish oil. I take a Xanax in the lowest dose once every six, eight, ten months or so for feeling frazzled. When I used to give piano recitals in college is when I started taking a Xanax before playing. But that was only a couple of times a year. When I'm not performing, I don't need the Xanax. So I'm not sure how to make it work best. But if you're feeling frazzled, take a Xanax & then use one of those head & shoulder pillow massage machines, & lie back in your favorite recliner whilst listening to the adagio from the Beethoven Opus 106 (which I introduced Ledgie John to yesterday).

Let yourself daydream away your cares! And then when you bestir yourself, go outside into the late-afternoon sun & jump up & down, & scream yourself hoarse (primal scream therapy).

Then do arm circles to loosen your tense shoulder muscles.

Finally--& don't laugh--rub your bare feet together & giggle. You will feel like a new you!

Who cares about the song? Pass the xanax over dude!

P.S. Miss you.

But I don't have that. Will any Fleetwood Mac songs achieve the same results?

Yes, the version of 'Crystal' recorded for Fleetwood Mac in '75, especially the spacey Christine fade-out at the end.

My MD just gave me a script for Xanax, .5 mg. Usually I take Ativan, which works ok. But the Xanax would hit the anxiety faster, so she thinks it would be better for when I need a quick escape hatch from a panic attack. She said I could even take .25, which is a very very low dose and probably even sub-therapeutic for most people. I split one of the tablets in half, and then split the half in half. So I had half a .25 mg tablet. It did nothing, which is no surprise, but I wanted to see if it would. Better to take the lowest effective dose possible.
I have 1 mg tablets of Ativan, I split these in half and then half again. .25 of Ativan does work for me, if I'm stressing at work and I feel my face and neck get hot and pins and needles, and the burning feeling in my neck and I'm starting to get aggressive and snappish, I can take .25 and in 20 minutes I'm better. .50 is even better, but 1 mg is a lot for me and I'd wind up very sedated to the point of euphoric. I take .50 for bedtime. It does help, and if I still can't unwind to sleep I can add another .25 gradually.

Xanax?????

Christopher 08-15-2010 08:38 PM

Haven't you all learned the lession from Stevie! Gosh:shocked: Stay away, run to the hills, whatever it takes to get away from Xanax and it's dirty kissing cousin's Klonopin and Valium.
"go on save yourselves"... "my first mistake was to smile at you"

And while I'm not a Sheryl basher per se, but I will say I think her version of "It's Only Love" BLOWS. And is far inferior to Stevie's interpretation and gorgeous vocal. Sheryl's version makes me want to take a bottle of Xanax to forget it exists. And what was up with that. She writes a song specifically for Stevie, than records it herself less than a year later. There's a word for that, but it's politically incorrect, so I'll refrain.

I think he means this version of Its Only Love, if you were actually asking.

Yes, that was a very good lesson too. If your MD prescribes you medication, draw on your past experience as a drink/drug addict and make a decision to take it only as directed. If you think you are taking too much, ask your pharmacist or another doctor instead of waiting 7 years. And don't feed them to your assistant as an experiment.
