Stevie in AC

To those going to see Stevie in AC, have a good time, but please be careful. I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, but there have been five robberies on The Boardwalk recently. I just watched the Philly news this a.m., & two men from Ohio were robbed on The Boardwalk, guns pointed right in their face! My husband & I were just in AC on Saturday to see Heart, & he noted that he did not see any police on The Boardwalk. (We used to see quite a few on trips there before.) Come to find out this a.m. that due to budget cuts, they are laying off some police & they only have four there @ a time for the whole boardwalk!

So again, have a good time, but please be careful. :wavey: And I expect a full report after the show since I can't go

Lee :)

nailatixela 08-12-2010 09:34 AM

Yeah, sadly AC isn't a very nice area. I can't believe they only have four cops for the entire boardwalk. Be safe everybody!

SapphireSister 08-12-2010 11:11 AM

I'll be dressed up in Stevie garb galore. Nobody's gonna ef with me. And if they try, I'll knock them over the head with my tambo.

I have to agree, last year the day after the Fleetwood Mac show. As I was walking down the boardwalk when this little wise ass yelled out at me and said your head looks like a
d%$k .I just kept on walking as this was said because I did not want to have a problem with his bigger friend sitting next to him on the bench. It's to bad about these kid minds are getting wasted and have no respect for others.

JerseyGirl 08-12-2010 05:04 PM

Welcome to jersey lol can't wait for the show.

FYI the heart concert there last weekend was amazing!!

Stephanie 08-12-2010 08:34 PM

so I won't start drinking until I get back to the Marina area LOL

SandyMac 08-12-2010 10:26 PM

Thanks for the advice. I am going and sticking close to the casino. NO ONE is gonna mess up this Stevie Experience... NO ONE ! So all those bad guys have now been officially warned by a member of the "Don't F#@k with Stevie Fans" group.

I am trying to take as many photos and videos as I can to share with everyone. :)

Regina 08-13-2010 03:09 PM

I was there this past week. Not too many cops around but a lot more security in the casinos (IMO) than I've ever seen before.

A few more tips: Keep money hidden (pocketbooks should be, again--IMO--for makeup and "show"), stay sober if you're going to walk around a lot and don't engage if someone tries to taunt you. Move quickly into a casino, store or restaurant and just pretend you haven't seen or heard the other person/persons.

Plus, a friend of mine told me this a while ago and it's obvious, but I wasn't doing it. IF you are walking from one of the "inner" blocks to the boardwalk--go through the back of the casino and walk through the casino to the boardwalk. I used to walk past parking lots, etc. and there's not too much security in doing that.

Also, I'm told that if you feel uncomfortable going back to your room--for whatever reason--you can ask hotel security to accompany you.

Is anyone going to the AC show from NYC?

Haven't been on here in a while :( So excited Stevie's doing this "This is Not a Tour Tour" lol...going to see her Atlantic City! Can't wait! My first time seeing Stevie solo and not part of The Mac (Saw them 3 times last year-Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Baltimore). Don't know if I want to wear my "Enchanted" or "Leather & Lace" shirt lol

Stephanie 08-19-2010 03:55 PM

Now that we are about 1 week away, who else is going? I can't wait! Will be there both nights, AC and foxwoods!

Amlyn 08-19-2010 07:24 PM

I'm going! Got my tickets in the mail yesterday! Woohoo!

Dreams22 08-19-2010 09:58 PM

To JohnL...I was going to see Donna Summer on that Saturday as well, but the date got moved to September 4 now instead of August 28. Just a heads up.

Are you kidding me? I am not a happy camper right now. Crap!!

llb 08-20-2010 10:45 AM

I seriously still need a ticket....a good one.

Dreams22 08-20-2010 12:39 PM

Sorry John :( Yea, it sucks.

I got scheduled to work that night and was ticked I was going to miss Donna, but then saw on http://www.donna-tribute.com/news.htm that the date got changed:

[JUL 7] Attention anyone who was planning to see the show at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City on August 28. The concert date has been changed to September 4. Any tickets already purchased for August 28 will be honored for the September 4 show.

Of course I have to work that Saturday as well so I'm going to see Donna August 29 (sunday) in Vienna, VA at Wolf Trap. From what I read, it's still basically the "Crayons" tour which I saw in '08 & '09 lol...o well...saw some pics and she's looking great.

I've seen Donna quite a few times since '05 but I've never seen Stevie by herself, so I'm really looking forward to the Atlantic City show...going to be great!

tothegypsy 08-20-2010 12:45 PM

To anyone who has been there before...the seating chart makes the sections on the side look awfully far from the stage. though it states that they are elevated above the floor. How are the views from the side sections?

Keith 08-20-2010 12:50 PM

well..

ticketmaster wants me to sit in section G, row B, seat 13.. that's all I keep getting when I try to buy a ticket.. as tothegypsy asked, anyone know about how far the sides are from the stage? I think this is the same arena Stevie played in 2001 (days after 9/11), but I was on the floor I can't seem to recall.

I'm glad to be going to see Stevie, but Casino shows can be a trip.. although I was on the floor in 2001, all I could hear for the first half of the show was "sit down.." and I was trying to sit but the folks in front of me were standing (can't blame them).. if not close enough to stand, then I'd rather get a seat in the back row.. too bad you can't pick seats from what is available instead of ticketmaster telling you where YOU should sit..

all good.. excited about seeing Stevie in a week... didn't think I would be seeing her this summer. JohnL.. cool that you are coming all the way from Tampa!

Ticketbastard sucks. Back in the 1970's and 1980's you were shown a floorplan of the arena and you simply pointed to the seat or seats you wanted and poof, they were yours. There was sometimes a limit of six seats max though.

Mywyldhrt 08-20-2010 02:31 PM

:] I am going......

wheart 08-20-2010 03:00 PM

I'm still waiting for all those "great seats" to be released on TM, you know the ones that get released right before the show. All I'm getting now are those seats to the extreme side of the stage...but, I actually enjoy a side view of a concert (call me weird). It's a different, kinda cool perspective on the whole thing so, if all else fails, I may end up getting one of those side seats. Regardless, I'm going. I need to see my Stevie!

I sure hope you go-and hit the Hard Rock before, regardless of what I could not even bear to read in another thread. It is what it is-a little get together for those who would to meet people they have communicated with for years or just one time-it doesn't matter. it is all good and in fun. Some feel a little compulsion to meet up as they knew loved and spoke to someone who while battling cancer, always posted very wise and valued advise to those who needed it. I hope you will come-I am a short 46 year old Lesbian with a wild heat tatoo on my upper left arm. :wavey:

JohnL 08-23-2010 08:55 AM

Gypsy 08-24-2010 05:21 PM

I'm going to the AC show!

Don't have a good ticket yet, but I'm sure something will come up the closer we get...

Oh, and thanks for the good advice about safety!

TrueFaith77 08-27-2010 07:59 AM

Is anyone going to AC from NYC via AMTRAK?

Keith 08-27-2010 09:09 AM

Well

I'm on the acela to Philly where I switch over to the NJ transit to get to AC..

Safe travels to all chiffonheads headed to the show. I'm in a serious Wild Heart state of mind .. Currently listening to it on my iPod... Listened to side 2 four times this morning before I left to catch the train - vinyl sounds so good

wheart 08-27-2010 09:13 AM

Everybody headed to AC have a great time at the show. I've a little bummed today. I've been searching for tickets all week but nothing good ever showed up in my price range so I suppose it wasn't meant to be. Still it's hard knowing Stevie is so close and I won't be seeing her but I have next year's tour to look forward to. I'll start saving now.:lol:

blackcat 08-27-2010 09:16 AM

See you soon Keith! Safe trip everyone!

Don't blame it on me--blame it on my wild heart!

Love IS!
blackcat

Gypsy 08-27-2010 09:58 AM

I'm taking the Greyhound bus this afternoon....whoohoo, see you all there! :wavey:

And if anyone has a spare ticket, please let me know!
Something will turn up, somewhere, amen.

Love,
Gypsy

Hi All --

I don't post too much, but I've been around for a long time.

Have tickets for tonight, but can't go at the last minute -- I'm just too under the weather.

Would anyone want them at this late hour? I can email them since they're e-tickets..

Would love them to go to a true fan :)

Let me know soon, because I'm headed back under the covers to recoup from this nasty cold I picked up. I'm so incredibly bummed.
