Now We Have audio/video of 'Love Is"

I'm dying to hear it! Kudos to Stevie for unveiling a never-performed album track as a closer.

Huge for Stevie. I even considered coming out of concert-going retirement to see her perform this song.

The tiny clip on from SB is incredible. The arrangement sounds just like the demo. Hopefully, the rest of the performance will surface soon.

I have been scouring the internet trying to find more than the two short clips I saw for Love Is on youtube. In doing that, I came across this song on the tube so I thought I would share. Most of the vets have probably heard all of her material and songs performed. The link is below.

LOVE IT! Thanks! :xoxo:

ryguy2010 08-07-2010 09:28 PM

Your Welcome :) I think that song is totally rockin it. Here I am thinking I've heard it all and stumble upon two contributions our little queen has given us which were new to me. This song reminds me of one of those songs that would be great for playing at a Pub! I think I will have a drink on that one.

Here's my video for Love Is. I also recorded most of the concert audio which I'll upload when I get it ready.

Enjoy~

Thank you!!! What does she say at the end? "Also, the number three, the child..."

SO AWESOME Thanks! It gave me chills!

HejiraNYC 08-08-2010 03:29 AM

^^^ (picks self off the floor). Wow, that was amazing. Did anyone feel a little chill when she sang those softer, breathy notes towards the end. Such a powerful, in-the-moment performance from Mama... she gone done us proud! Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting!

Keith 08-08-2010 06:06 AM

"..you've got the softest voice.."

Stunning performances - thank you!

I really hate I'm not impressed with Love Is :distress:. I just don't know why Stevie insists on BELTING every song she sings these days. That's probably why she always sounds so off-key, too. Love Is should be sang softly, almost like a prayer. The song is a beautiful, sad sentiment... not a torch song.

It's never been sung softly, even on the recording, so why would she choose a huge outdoor venue to start singing it softly? She belts parts, she whispers parts- it's called dynamics. Otherwise it would be a dull song.

Amlyn 08-08-2010 01:11 PM

Found another upload of Love Is from Tahoe, minus the piano intro, but...you get to hear everything she said at the end of the song.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer and poo-poo on everyone's parade. It's just my opinion she's not being a 'dynamic' singer here, or even modulating her voice between belt and whisper. It's more like an on or off switch... there's no smooth transition. I just don't see why Stevie has to project her voice so loudly these days. She has a much fatter, more velvety, beautiful tone when she doesn't.

For what it's worth, the second recording posted in this thread quells my criticism. I think the sound quality/mic location in the audience from the first video just made her sound flat and off key. She sounds MUCH better on the recording Amlyn posted.

I'm so grateful for the full audio of Love Is...and it is amazing. I've always loved this song and it's so special to hear it live. I can't believe she sang the demo version lyrics - the angel line. So much emotion in her performance. I'm so happy she added this to the set.

And it's extra special to see what she was saying when talking about the number 3. I love hearing her talk about the new album...she can't wait for us to hear it? Well, we can't wait to hear it! Stevie seems so happy with what she is working on now and that makes me so happy. It's like one big exchange of happiness between fans and Stevie.

GypsySorcerer 08-08-2010 03:16 PM

Thank you, THANK YOU everyone for uploading these. What a beautiful performance, made me tear up a bit.

jannieC 08-08-2010 03:27 PM

"Love is...watching you go" (at 2:44). That is an example of the beauty and sweetness of Stevie's voice. I agree that her voice is so much more effective when it's soft. I do think it must be harder to do that, though? I thought someone said that once.

HejiraNYC...I think I love you! That pic you posted of Debbie Downer after Louie's comment made me spit out the juice I was drinking! So funny!!!

I don't think Stevie could hit those somewhat higher register notes by using a softer vocal. She seems to really have to push it out to get up there, plus she likely has more control over her voice when she's belting it out.
